Feminism: Sex and gender discussions
LilyCraven · 17/03/2026 08:43

Thank you for starting a new thread, Thimble Thief.

Unusual Dog remarked that she was happy to see all of these new groups but predicted that they would implode within two years as a result of infighting.

I am happy to report that the Women of Wessex and the Women of Surrey have been going for about three years now - with no infighting - and we are going from strength to strength. I predict that the Women In The Chilterns will do the same (being collectively Heathered is quite a bonding experience) and I have high hopes that the Women O’Scotland will too.

Did anyone notice that this thread was hidden for a short time this morning

ThimbleThief · 17/03/2026 11:12

No but I had a lot of difficulty posting my previous message with a link to the archived thread. The Post button was not working. Other Mumsnet pages were working fine.

Thanks for this second thread. It's been interesting and I await the "nothing to see here" posters arriving soon.

I'd love to be part of a new Scotland group. Also, I am starting to look into volunteering so am going to start doing some sneaky research into which ones centre real women and will fight against the Scottish government's misogyny.

NameChangedWren · 17/03/2026 17:12

Sorry to be the poster @HagsRule! The fact is that WRN have been very effective at putting a lid on all this - apart from the occasional link to these threads it’s all been very much squashed.

inkognitha · 17/03/2026 17:53

The thread was also hidden for me earlier today, glad to see it back.

I suppose someone complained …

The message said that there had been a number of posts reported so it was being hidden for MN to have a look at. There were only 4 posts including the OP when it was hidden

I was wondering whether to add to the Title of this thread something about "ex-WRN Group News" but it was so close to the end of the first thread that it was rushed, just to make sure I could post a link to this thread at the end of the first one.

The story has broadened so maybe there was a wish to erase news about developments outside of WRN?

Whether that or festering annoyance about continuing exposés of WRN shenanigans, it would be the height of hubris and impertinence if WRN had tried to stifle discussion on Mumsnet.

NameChangedWren do you mean the inner circle have got their fingers in their ears and are going la-la-la? If so, they might have learned nothing from this episode but a lot of other women have.

Adding my voice: not on twix, how do I get in touch with the women's group? DM me if preferred.

WaterThyme · 17/03/2026 22:29

Same as @FabulousFryingpan - not on X, would like to know about new group, DM if preferred

RinklyRomaine · 18/03/2026 07:05

WOS are aware of this thread and will have some mechanisms in place very soon. 😊

Whaaaaat?? Why was my post deleted? I just asked why the thread was taken down earlier. This one gone be deleted too now?

ThimbleThief · 19/03/2026 01:16

It might have been misunderstood that you were challenging a moderation decision and action. That tends not to go down well with the Mods.

I think I have worked out why the thread disappeared for a while but to explain would probably get this post deleted too.

This thread going well so far then. Kinda proving the point.

It absolutely is a live demonstration for those of us not in the WRN. We can see ex and current members discussing their opinions on the organisational structure and processes. And we can observe the holes in this thread. And we can draw our own conclusions based on previous experiences where we know extremely sensitive and litigious TRAs were reading threads and the threads looking similarly like a colander.

In case you missed it, or are not on Twitter, the Women O'Scotland have officially launched this morning. We Women of Wessex look forward to working with them collaboratively on national issues, and wish them every success.

Women's Rights Network Imploding - thread 2
TipsyKhakiJoker · 19/03/2026 13:00

Congratulations to the women of Scotland, starting up their own independent group. I wish them every success. I hope that WRN takes a salutary lesson from this, not those of the leadership who we know don’t listen to anyone outside their own echo chamber, but the volunteers and coordinators, whose efforts and actions keep those women at the top, but who are ruthlessly discarded when they start having opinions.

Amazing! I'll need to reach out to a couple of the women who were also chucked out like me and see if I can be involved

Seriestwo · 19/03/2026 17:10

great!

Congratulations to Wo'S. Ive been looking for a group to be involved with for a while. Attend Alloa Womens Festival every year, but not living in Glasgow makes it difficult to attend FiLiA events

I'm the same! Rural and more difficult to commit to big events in big cities and especially with young children, disabilities and other issues.

I couldn't go to alloa this year but would love to reach out and find this new women's group in Scotland.
