Mass Shooting in Tumbler Ridge Canada

Looks like it was a man in a dress. Another tragedy. More lives lost. Boys with violent tendencies cannot be told they are actually girls. The violent background of trans activism is a problem.

BREAKING

The identity of the Tumbler Ridge shooter can now be confirmed as Jesse “Jess” Strang.

Strang is a biological male who started to “identify” as a "girl" around 2023.

Strang was raised in a family that valued hunting, and began learning how to shoot rifles when he was just a child. Many guns were kept in the family's residence.

Facebook posts from his mother indicate he may have struggled with behavioral issues, including violent tendencies, from a very young age.

Strang fatally shot 10 people prior to taking his own life.

In 2021, Strang launched a YouTube channel that was promoted by his mother on her Facebook. The channel was dedicated to "hunting, self-reliance, guns" and his other interests. At some point, Strang deleted the content on the channel and changed his handle from "Jesse Boy" to "JessJessUwU." The only remaining post on the channel was made 6 months ago and reads "I've been pretty, um, aimless."

So true. Why do we accept wholeheartedly that affirming their disordered body issues to anorexics and bulimics is wrong because it is denying that anorexia / bulimia are mental illnesses, whereas affirming someone’s gender confusion by immediately offering irreversible chemical ‘solutions’ and surgery is fine because it is seen as ‘supporting someone be their true self’ not affirming a mental disorder .

In short, because trans advocacy groups worked long and hard - and in secret - to ensure that this was the case.

Grammarnut · 11/02/2026 15:31

The BBC reported the shooter was a woman. This was probably before the sex was known, perhaps?
Canada is genderwoo wonderland, however, so no telling what the police might say since a TiM may legally be 'female'.

Ozgirl76 · 11/02/2026 08:31

My 15 year old son said “can you believe a woman would do this” I said “no. I will put money on this being a trans woman”

Listening to the BBC earlier I thought so, too. Now confirmed.

Cailleach1 · 11/02/2026 15:34

@TempestTost ‘Because internet gossip doesn't meet the standard the BBC would accept.‘

That does sound good. If they indeed adhere to the truth in such a steadfast way. However, I’m just looking over an article on a male murderer in Oxford with the adopted moniker of ‘Scarlet Blake’. This former Mr Wang, was convicted of murdering Jorge Martin Carreno. This male murderer is being referred to as ‘she’ by the BBC. Even after ‘Scarlet’ is known to be a man.

‘The trial heard she came to the UK from China aged nine, and came out to her parents as transgender at 12.’

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-oxfordshire-68360122

Whatever the standards are, truth is not one of them in this example.

I think my point is that is is not just down to a reticence to be incorrect. They will happily print falsehoods. They are not alone, of course. If only they scrupulously adhered to a standard that held the truth at it’s core.

Scarlet Blake

Cat killer Scarlet Blake found guilty of murdering Jorge Martin Carreno

Scarlet Blake had a "fixation with violence" and "knowing what it would feel like to kill someone".

Tumbler Ridge is a small remote mining town with a small RCMP detachment. So I'm (almost) willing to give a pass to the local police if they worded the "shelter in place" . What I'm not willing to overlook is the government's dysfunctional "progressive" policies and the cowardly mainstream media who won't report what they know. I find X a more up to date source of information now.

BinseyPoplars · 11/02/2026 15:40

Even the Daily Mail say “the killer also shot herself dead at the school”; the Mail usually do better than that.

There are some corrections in the comments but clearly not all the readers are getting it.

ArabellaScott · 11/02/2026 15:43

Imagine working in the media, as a professional, and thinking your job is actually to collude in obfuscation of the facts.

We are in a dangerous place.

ArabellaScott · 11/02/2026 15:44

My heart absolutely aches for all of the victims.

They deserve respect and honesty and clarity. They should be the focus of the law enforcement, media, and government's most strenuous efforts, not the protection of some fragile idea of 'gender identity'.

Lalgarh · 11/02/2026 15:46

There's details on the gunman circulating on social media including more on his Animé fixation and how he wanted to be cute. Normally at this point BBC Verify or their misinformation busting team will pop up counselling gullible viewers not to take these things at face value.

This shooting wasn't actually featured on R4 world at one except way down in the headlines. They were running with survivors of Mohammed Al Fayed and Matthew Doyle

womendeserveequalhumanrights · 11/02/2026 15:46

Yes, imagine being the parent of a child killed by a man in a dress having to read the media and the authorities pandering to his delusion. It's sick that media outlets have done this so extensively in the past. It is putting the murder's wants over the consideration of the victims and their families dignity and the truth.

It's vile and evil and destroys trust in the media and authorities.

Credit to Al Jazeera for reporting with clarity in this case.

Many are autistic

I think it is well known now amongst the medical community that all of the ROGD boys are autistic. Sadly, they’re not getting the care they need to manage distress and past trauma.
Psychologists are starting to stand up and offer therapy to these kids, but there are still many who are afraid to touch them for fear of being cancelled or worse.
If there are any healthcare professionals or teachers or others in positions of responsibility reading this, please do your research before mindlessly affirming a young person with multiple mental health conditions. You wouldn’t affirm an anorexic. Start by listening to the testimonies of whistleblowers who have worked in gender clinics to get a true picture of what is actually happening and the damage being done to our autistic young people.
Deepest sympathy to all the victims

HolyGround13 · 11/02/2026 15:56

Even if this person wasn’t trans (and I still haven’t seen anywhere verified that they were- not that I disbelieve it) I don’t think most news organisations would reveal the sex of the shooter without it having been verified by the police. I don’t know how much of a role it’s having. I don’t think it’s sensible to assume their sex is not yet being reported because they’re trying to obfuscate

GrandMamaMe · 11/02/2026 14:57

odd how Mumsnet once crucified any of us who dared to say men are never women and now an entire chat is acceptable.
For over a decade we said that this mental health epidemic of confused young men being flattered as stunning and braved and being confirmed in their delusions, would lead to violence and we were branded fascists and Nazis and banned from every platform where it's now totally acceptable - yet none of us were invited back on or received an apology when the rest of the world caught up!

Men are NEVER women. You can't all just say it when you don't want a murderer classed as a woman but then fawn and applaud when it's everywhere else! Men do not belong in women's spaces, not in sports, not in prisons, or hospital wards, not in refuges or clubs. Just because you may want the man you like, you don't get to forego every woman's wishes and celebrate them when you pick and choose.

And for heavens sake, it's about time we all grew up and stop using trans language when we all know that our language functions perfectly well - he was a man who murdered children. He wasn't EVER any type of woman. He was born a man, lived a man however he thought of himself and died a pathetic, weak, fearful, murdering man.
Stop pandering to him even in death!

Exactly right. Except, I would correct one thing. If the suspected murderer is this 17 year old, he was a child. He was a 17 year old BOY.

I'm not excusing his alleged crimes, but children need safeguarding and he was a child. Did someone tell an unstable 15 year old with a history of gun use, that he was a girl? If so, who? And, why?

This gender confusion doesn't come out of nowhere. Adults need to step up and take a share of responsibility for this and for every single time a trans identified child harms themself, or someone else.

JanBlues2026 · 11/02/2026 15:59

If she was going to shoot up a school, a woman wouldn’t put a frock on to go do it, very impractical.

Lalgarh · 11/02/2026 16:01

ArabellaScott · 11/02/2026 15:48

I find it frankly disgusting to watch people stumble and fall silent to avoid stating the plain fact - this was a disturbed male.

This has happened before - a news story goes from being BBC front page with live updates, to sudden stuttering into silence because the facts are inconvenient.

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/rest-of-world/who-was-jesse-strang-18-year-old-named-in-canada-school-shooting-that-left-10-dead-dozens-injured/articleshow/128206626.cms

Yes
It just drops out of the news. There was a shooting in Minnesota last year (not ICE) where it was all huge interest and then nothing

SquirrelSoShiny · 11/02/2026 16:02

I wish we could just call a spade a spade. These are almost universally emotionally stunted, autistic young men who had unfettered Internet access and feel a weird combination of thwarted desire and rage for women / society.

If you are parenting a young, autistic male you will need to monitor his Internet use like a hawk and do NOT let him live his existence online locked in his bedroom.

I am so done with no one just saying the unsayable.

I agree. I think there is also concern about the impact of media coverage of mass shootings that focus on the perpetrator, and that this would discourage organisations like The BBC from reporting more than what has been officially announced.

More and more of us are trying and at every turn there is some fucking grifter/ be kind nitwit flapping their hands and completely failing to see how truly dangerous a percentage of these young men are.

Well the official warning for the community to lock down immediately, said the shooter was “female in a dress with brown hair”.
My first thought was, I bet it’s that special kind of “female”

As soon as I heard that I knew it would be a male - 100%.

If sex isn't known they shouldn't repeat "female in a dress" all over the place.

Also, this is Canada known for disbarring a nurse for knowing about biological sex and willing to employ male teachers who wear size Z giant prosthetic breasts in class.

That’s a great point. Media is generally trying to de-center the perpetrator because many of them end up being idolised by future shooters.
I know how upsetting I find it when news about violence against women as girls focuses on the perpetrators (“he always kept himself to himself” etc) rather than acknowledging the victims and impact.
I suppose this thread is revealing how many people mistrust mainstream media.

ChapmanFarm · 11/02/2026 16:10

I knew as soon as I read 'in a dress'. If a female did do such a thing, I can't imagine them selecting such impractical clothing.

In terms of the 'BBC didn't know '. Fine but as soon as there was doubt they should have said 'person'.

They are no longer looking for the suspect so they don't need to stick to the wording of the original report.

If they stopped reporting the original quote, I wonder what people might accuse them of then? E.g. covering up that the police had originally reported the shooter as female. I’m sure many here would also take that as evidence of bias on the BBC’s part.
