Welcome to The Bluestocking, the welcome is warm, the conversation is wide-ranging, the food and drink are delicious but magically free from anything they need to be free from, and the bar staff are highly-trained, professional, efficient and very friendly gerbils.

I’d like a full cooked breakfast too now you’ve mentioned it. But in real life, it might have to be some sort of omelette.

'One omelette that identifies as a full cooked breakfast, or vice versa, coming right up, Swash!'

Thanks, Marie. I’d like a very large portion of everything. Probably twice.

I think of it as more of an Inn too @DeanElderberry

Or possibly a tavern.

I think of it as several taverns, existing in parallel universes, coming into focus to a greater or lesser extent as we change threads. Or as we move through time. Or something.

I've asked the gerbils to start work on our very own 'Flouncer's Corner'. They're going at a cracking rate, & it should be ready soon.

Swashbuckled · 22/01/2026 12:43

How big are you as a beetle, Boiled? I realise I see you as human sized, but you might actually be beetle sized.

Might take a bit longer now, Gloria and Gaynor are having an argument about bunting. They have both flounced.

AuntieMsDamsonCrumble · 22/01/2026 12:45

btw - I had heard the rumour of an offer for the Bluestocking by Weatherspoons, but they were gazumped by a consortium of capybaras.

Swashbuckled · 22/01/2026 12:45

Can’t wait to see it, Android.

I still like to think of us in our houses in the village.

It varies. I carry round various drinks and cakes with 'eat me' 'drink me' labels on.

Like most illicit drug taking I'm never quite sure what will happen

Ooh. Was it Capyspoons. A consortium started by the pissed off construction capybaras crew that never got paid by Weatherspoons for doing a pub refit two days before Christmas 2022?

That's why it sounded so familiar!

I decided when I was doing my groceries that I was going to eat lots of salads this week. Now my fridge just makes me sad.

It's the weather Taztoy. I can eat salad when it's cold outside as long as it's a bright day. When the weather is damp and grey (as it is today), all I want is carbs. Just as well I've just had a huge, cooked breakfast in the Bluestocking.

DrAuroraSoupDragonsFriend · 22/01/2026 13:04

Please can the bargerbils sort me out a nice take-away vegan packed brunch? Thank you.

I've decided that, in the interests of reducing eyestrain from uninterrupted document writing, I need to go for a drive to visit my granddaughter et al after all. Knowing that my optician would support this plan validates it.

Good thing they built the gerbil-sized exit first, then. Don't worry about them, they will survive. Boom-tish!

EdithStourton · 22/01/2026 13:07

I'm so bewildered by the morning's events that I need a decent drink. A pint of Adnam's full-fat Ghostship would do the trick. (Not the alcy-free version. Not today.)

I passed the half-wit test at the door, though, so yay! And even though I don't have any Cerificates of Feministing Credentials, I was still allowed in.

EdithStourton · 22/01/2026 13:08

And Auntie M is right, Taz - salad loses most of its charm between October and April.

Do they live in Barnard Castle?

For Swashy...

Plain or fancy?

The AI likes to show its workings these days, & it told me it was 'fabricating flounces profusely'.😂

Even in the summertime, dh will refuse to eat salad, if it's a wet, grey, chilly day - and living in Scotland, we do have one or two of those each summer! I want to eat more salads, because I know it would be good for me, but the weather wants me to eat hearty casseroles!

Definitely the first one; plain.

The frills made me feel strange….

DeanElderberry · 22/01/2026 13:27

I love salads but in this weather tend to eat them mixed with hot food (meatballs, frankfurters). And went right off them in the first weeks of this virus.

Swashbuckled · 22/01/2026 13:29

I made a salad for on the side of my plate the other evening. I was impressed with my own genius when I had the idea of putting grilled (air fried) mushrooms on top. Brought both heat and mushroom juice to the salad and I can recommend.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 22/01/2026 13:30

I will not have our beloved Myrtle spoken to as she was upthread, & to show our appreciation of her I asked the gerbils to bake a cake in her image. They're transporting it here now. Can confirm that it contains no salad ingredients whatsoever.

I have to eat something salad-y every day, even if it's freezing cold out. I crave that crunchy-munchy texture!

What makes a salad worthwhile is the dressing - having made v low fat dressing [cos I have to] from 0% fat yoghurt, I've recently tried both Skyr and Fage [which makes me a Fagephage😄] as the base, and they makes a nicer, more substantial dressing than yoghurt.

Stir in a dollop of Dijon mustard, a bit of low fat mayo, and a small amount of something with a very strong flavour, like ranch dressing =a yum low fat dressing .Smile

I was deeply offended upthread not to be told to F Off. That must be the ultimate rejection. Waahhhh...

Shouldn't "Flouncers Corner" have an ejector seat, not a comfy chair?

I've just eaten a massive cream bun
It is cream bun weather.
