NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #55

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to last 2 weeks. However, after 2 weeks it was not complete and it adjourned part-heard. It resumed on 16 July and the last day of evidence was 29 July 2025. It resumed again over 1 to 2 September for closing submissions.

The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton gave evidence from Thursday 6 February to Wednesday 12 February 2025. Sandie Peggie returned to give more evidence on 29 July 2025.

Where did the idea of today being Decision Day come from? I would have thought that there'd have to be some pre-announcement, they wouldn't just drop a big decision like that out of the blue..
but I know zero about the process, so....😏

Oh whit - no judgement?? Damn you to hell, judge - now I'll have to do some work. This is most unsatisfactory.

More generally, often feel a bit like that. It's a bit worrying (in a way) when you're saying, in effect, I'm right and everyone else (the BBC, most of the media, etc) is wrong. It all seems a bit chemtrails or anti-vax...
But, I guess the mood is turning especially in the UK.

My usual reminder that anyone can claim to be anyone on the internet. I could claim to be "Carol Potter's friend" or even Carol Potter, although I like to think I was more competent than Carol. Carol may claim family reasons for retiring for all I care, I just hope they manage to recruit a more competent replacement who doesnt waste quite so much taxpayers money.

I'm being a bit cautious with my glee before the judgement is given. I am quite sure it will be in Sandie's favour, but I'm holding myself back so I can give a massive scream when the time comes. I don't want an anti climax 😂

There may be some caveats, and it may not all go 100% the way we presume. But then again, maybe it will. Hence the holding of my breath for now!

If I was Carol's friend, I would be cringing for her and making sure we had some meals out and weekend breaks booked.

I absolutely wouldnt be defending her leadership and workplace failures
