Yeah she can afford to employ someone to delete spam. Or a tech person to block it.

Seriously: the tantrums that women could afford to protect their rights under law when these are breached is 'anti trans'. So logically being 'pro trans' means breaking the law and everyone enabling prejudice and discrimination against women?

Let's just agree that women daring to exist at all is 'anti trans' and be done with it.

JKR's response to a poster on X musing about her data security and where date stored:

J.K. Rowling

@jk_rowling

Wait - are you saying I should have hired legal, data protection and IT experts when putting this together? OMG, I feel like such a fool, but it’s my very first time, so I just set it up on my own without telling anyone. And to cap it all, I’ve forgotten the password.

What was that wonderful quote by a MNetter tech expert to some nitwit man? It should have been framed. Something like 'Oh thank God you're here, I've just been bashing it with my tits and hoping."

Waitwhat23 · 25/05/2025 10:00

Found the quote -
'Oh thank GOD you're here! Thank you SO much. I've been using these magic boxes for over 20 years without a CLUE what I'm doing. I remember when the demon known as the internet came into my house. you'd have been about 5 back then. I have been keeping the evil at bay with chicken legs and candles. Thank goodness you've arrived.Back when my job involved working on these machines all day, I just bashed them with my tits and hoped for the best.I'm not actually sure how I managed to get on here, tbh. I was dusting it one day and all this stuff appeared.'😆

Yes, I'll never understand how people just can't see the sorts of men who inhabit this ideology.

The entire thing is based on sexism and uses rank misogyny to uphold itself.

Little wonder that they are dinosaurs who genuinely think women can't do anything.

Including billionaire women who have dozens of businesses and employ thousands of people.

I guess that when your entire existence is predicated on the idea that women are service humans, it's quite difficult to imagine that they are good for anything else.

Conxis · 25/05/2025 10:25

The legal team will already be on top of which cases are important for setting precedent. We need those rulings, not out of court settlements. I think that if you decline an out of court offer but then win and aren't awarded more than the settlement offer, you're liable for all costs, which can easily exceed the award. (Happy to be corrected.) If that's the case, the fund will mean women can push for the case to be heard when that's necessary to get the precedent ruling without having to weigh up whether a win could still ruin them.

Agree with this. I think they will be looking to support targeted cases affecting schools, hospitals, HE, prisons, unions, gyms, Local authorities, job loss due to GC beliefs, high profile places such as HOC toilets Hampstead ponds, etc. Success in these areas will help bring all the places into line which were “confused about the law”.

rebmacesrevda · 25/05/2025 10:28

Very much hoping someone will sue Scottish Government. That'll be the bullseye.

zenas · 25/05/2025 10:28

A bit of an aside, but is there any update on the Hampstead ponds situation?

Thank-you JKR.

Can we take a guess the first beneficiaries are FWS and a teeny wee nurse fae Fife?

You know it might just need to go out and replace my HP books. Mine were read to death by a young family member. (Never abused just read and handled so much).

Actually maybe both my kids should have their own copies 🤔

I reckon a certain superstar lesbian barrister suing the hell out of her chambers in a situation so stressful that she ended up in hospital was perhaps the catalyst.

Either way, the woman is an absolute goddess.

I think Hampstead ponds shows exactly how tra's think

There is one for women, one for men and one for both (I.e the third space)

They don't want the one for both. They want the women's one.

I'm dying for a case against the unions, it's absolutely shameful how they have handled pretty much everything. I'm not sure who would be my preferred first example but Jo Grady and the academics finally facing the music would be nice - though it does look like it will be Sandie Peggie going for the RCN.

Has the council or whoever is in charge of the ponds banned TiM from the women's pond yet after SC though (if you know) ?

Well, you'll not have too long to wait. The judgement on Adult Human Female v UCU is due this summer...

From X, re Jayney Sutherley suing the Scottish Prison Service:

Lucy HunterBlackburn
@LucyHunterB
Worth remembering that whenever a prisoner in Scotland takes legal action, it's against Scottish Ministers directly, not the prison service. The SPS has no separate legal identity of its own - it's what's called an executive agency./

No doubt thought women shouldn't have brought the equal pay claim against Glasgow City Council either, rather than GCC perhaps shouldn't have implemented discriminatory grading.

They seem to be showing themselves up more and more on this kind of thing and few women on 'their' side are picking them up on very basic principles.

I’ve seen a couple of men on twitter being pissed that it’s only for women too. Plus the “this fund will only be used to harass trans people and people she doesn’t like”. I personally think she will back the cases that will have the most impact (sandie P etc) and be instrumental in changing/clarifying the law for the betterment of women. She’s set this up over a long period of time and will have very clear objectives because she’s phenomenal.

While not denying the validity of cases taken by men, it says something that a thread about a woman setting up

'A legal fighting fund for women protecting their sex-based rights'

only gets as far as page 4 before 'but what about the men?' appears!

Three blissful pages where women could have something that was explicitly for women..🙄

BernsBellRowling · 25/05/2025 12:04

Every time I think I can’t love JKR any more than I already do, she does something else so absolutely epic that I’m prostrate with gratitude yet again. What a woman. There will never be enough words to thank her adequately for how she is the shield and the sword protecting our sex-based rights in the face of an unrelenting onslaught of misogyny, violence and oppression.

The fact that so many men’s rights activists are incandescent with rage, and desperate in the face of the dawning realisation that they have been outmanoeuvred by someone so superior in intellect, integrity and resources, is just the delicious icing on the cake.

Jo, you are sublime. Thank you.

Do you have a form of words I can crib for my MP please? Not good at this stuff

If you visit the Sex Matters website they have a template and have requested as many of us as possible send emails to our MP. You might need to subscribe, I’m not sure. I emailed my MP, Tulip Siddiq and, as well as asking her to support enforcement of the law, especially at the HoP, I asked her to address the situation at the Hampstead Ponds as @zenas enquired about. Plus I mentioned that as a woman and a mother, she must understand the issues and threats to women’s rights. I have had ok responses from her in the past, let’s see what happens this time. Sadly, when the boundaries got redrawn, my MP changed, it was Keir Starmer before, I would have been on his back 😹

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 25/05/2025 13:02

I wrote to my MP a couple of days ago via the Sex Matters site and am interested to see what, if any, response I get. He's a Lib Dem so I'm prepared for anything.

So's mine and the response was rage worthy. All about how much confusion and upset the judgment has led to and how it's now time for a sensible conversation. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 25/05/2025 13:16

You mean TRAs are up for something other than 'No debate'? Well there's a turn up for the books.

I'm prepared to be enraged by the reply. Did you respond to your MP?
