BMA beclowning themselves over the SC judgement

Pressure groups don't understand the SC ruling, the reasons for it and how the Court itself operates for the same reasons that they have been spouting all that illegal rubbish to date. They have outsourced their reading, listening and thinking to others. They have not yet learnt their lesson.

How many people were at the conference? Generally, only a few people attend party conference, union conference etc (compared against membership numbers), so it's easy to skew a vote

Please tell me that there is another BMA and that this isn't the actual British Medical Association making complete fools of themselves.

Thinking…

Bonkers Myths Association?

Blatantly Mindless Assiciation?

Biologically Muddled Association?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 27/04/2025 19:15

😂

Lemonz · 27/04/2025 19:16

Can someone ask them how is babby formed?

ILikeDungs · 27/04/2025 19:18

I just...can't even.

I read to the word "reductive" and my brain shut down, sorry.

Oh god, they're doctors, actual doctors. It honestly makes me die a little reading that. It is so embarrassing and so very concerning. Frankly it is no surprise we ended up with the Sandie Peggie case given this bunch of absolute twerps.

There was a woman who started a thread several months ago to ask if she was going mad. She'd had an argument with her daughter ( daughter was doing a medical degree) about sex and the changing of it. The daughter was adamant that , if a young boy took puberty blockers then he wouldn't become an adult male but would become an actual female because the puberty blockers would change his biology. Utterly batshit

murasaki · 27/04/2025 19:25

I wonder how many votes Upton had.

AlexandraLeaving · 27/04/2025 19:36

I wonder what training they recommend for doctors present at births on the whole “assignment” process. I figure it must be carefully thought-through, with a lot about seeing into the future character and interests of the baby in order to maximise the chances of making an accurate assignment. It would be interesting to know how they think it should be done. It might give us all an insight into the gendered soul.

I can’t wait until the EHRC start ensuring the law is applied as it is, and not how people want it to be.

I’m enraged that the EHRC have failed so abysmally to date.

viques · 27/04/2025 19:46

“Scientific illiteracy”

Well that leaves them open to a lot of low blows doesn’t it? Is this where the famous Dr Upton “I am biological therefore I am a biological woman” school of thought gained traction?

Calling Professor Lord Robert Winston, your presence is required, please bring a bound volume of your collected research papers and academic reviews to beat some sense into these idiots.

TheaBrandt1 · 27/04/2025 19:47

Utterly embarrassing

guinnessguzzler · 27/04/2025 19:47

@AngelinaFibres There really isn't an appropriate reaction emoji for that one ... that is just absolutely mind boggling. It really does make you despair for the future of humanity.

"any identity assigned to them at birth"
Is that a new phrase they just made up?

“How nice to see you again Mr and Mrs Hussain, and many congratulations on your new baby. Now let’s get the formal stuff out of the way shall we. Today is Tuesday and the wind is from the north with the prospect of rain later so I assign this child to be a black , Jewish, intersex child, left handed, with a tendency to lisp when tired . Oh and s/ he is allergic to penicillin and cashew nuts, but will have really great hair and skin - but start saving for some major orthodontic intervention from eleven onwards. There we go. Aaaah, I see you have brought little Miranda, she is looking lovely, that little cat harness is so very cute, here you are poppet, a chicken dreamie for my favourite cat child.”

SionnachRuadh · 27/04/2025 19:58

Am now flashing back to Dr Spaceman in 30 Rock explaining that medicine isn't an exact science and nobody really knows anything

ItsCoolForCats · 27/04/2025 20:00

Embarrassing. Hopefully Hannah Barnes is ok the case.

There's no end to this madness Confused

loveyouradvice · 27/04/2025 20:06

I HOPE that doctors will sort this soonest - I know many have resigned from BMA but far more importantly that they enable it to become a reprreseenative body again... They must know how this will impact on people's belief in doctors

Marvel23 · 27/04/2025 20:08

Unreliable source but India Willoughby is claiming it is fake on X

Theeyeballsinthesky · 27/04/2025 20:21

I guess we’ll find out tomorrow when the BMA social media ppl get into the office

Faffertea · 27/04/2025 20:46

BMA is supposed to be the trade union for doctors. Funded by members paying a fee.
There are different committees for different types of doctor- Resident doctors (what used to be called junior doctors), Consultants and GPs. I joined in the last couple of years to try and stop the decimation of General Practice. To be able to take part in collective action you have to be a member and we need a strong voice on this- and the GP committee chair is a woman to be reckoned with.

There are unfortunately some captured medics who I just can’t understand and why they have chosen the anti science, poorly evidenced route they have is both incomprehensible and I think really damages what people think of the profession. I did write to them about their stance on the Cass review and I know many colleagues who did the same.

weegiemum · 27/04/2025 20:47

Dh (a GP) just saw this cos I showed him.

We can’t find his eyeballs, they have rolled so far back in his head.

He hasn’t been a BMA member for several years for reasons such as these. Just described junior doctors as “woke and whacky”.

HelenaWaiting · 27/04/2025 20:53

I used to be a member of the BMA. Honestly, the only info I would accept from them is what day of the week it is - and I'd still check even then.

DogeCon · 27/04/2025 20:59

reductive really is not the massive win they seem to think it is. If I have breakfast in bed, it isn’t reductive to say my bed isn’t a kitchen table.
… but that’s definitions for you. Words have meanings.

Bless her deading with these fudds.

I actually can't believe what I've just read my first thought was it can't seriously be the British Medical Association.

Even more reason why we all need Sandie to stay strong 💪

rebmacesrevda · 27/04/2025 21:02

Aside from the stupidity of it, the thing that makes me think it's fake is the word "intersex". It's outdated terminology that I just don't think they would use.
