Rory and Alastair have deigned to discuss the ruling in their podcast… it would be great to see some more GC comments underneath this episode….

Have you listened? Is it a stressful listen?! The latest Double Jeopardy is also just out 😊

I have pretty much stopped listening to them but listened to this episode. It was outrageous. Particularly Alistair. What a twerp.

He knows a friend's child, who is trans (female to male) who he misgendered and said his beliefs were attributed. To this relationship and his daughter.

I wonder how he will feel in a few years time when his friend's child can't have children, can't stay on tersterone because of the effects on the body and I'd experiencing other effects such as hair loss.

My position comes from wanting to protect children and young people from harm.

He was so scathing about JK Rowling, because she had a cigar.

I have been meaning to for ages, but this has led me to finally press the unsubscribe button.

TheaBrandt1 · 23/04/2025 06:44

I boycott these two now. Their views on Afghanistan were abhorrent.

I won’t listen to all male political podcasts anymore.

SummerDaysOnTheWay · 23/04/2025 06:46

Yes definitely a stressful listen.
Especially disappointed at Alastair’s completely faux bafflement “I just don’t understand how those mean women can be celebrating when they’ve really upset some person I saw give a moving speech one time … oh and Jameela Jamil says, so it must be true “ give me fucking strength.

As a life long Labour supporter it just smacks of the old school sexist male Labour party issue. Thanks for fucking nothing guys.
Love Rory’s take though.

I have been wondering if they would stop to talk about the Women's thing.

I shall give it a listen.

Sidebeforeself · 23/04/2025 06:51

I will listen but I know I’ll end up shouting at the “ radio”. These two are usually obsessed with facts … don’t tell me they have decided this is a fact that doesn’t count! I’m not surprised at Alistair as he’s trashed JK before , but I’ll be really annoyed if Rory agrees with him. Actually, I’m surprised they are even talking about it

LittleBigHead · 23/04/2025 06:55

Ugh. I’ll have to listen to, but I might listen to the rational and fair Double Jeopardy guys first.

They had Professor Stock as a very early guest. They are calm and rational. Give them a listen!

pinkfloralcurtains · 23/04/2025 06:55

They’re dinosaurs. They lost me around the end of last year when Rory described the Rotherham/Rochdale/Oxfordshire/etc child grooming rings as “men paying girls for sex in parks” and various other offensive statements that dismissed the depth and illegality of the issue.

SummerDaysOnTheWay · 23/04/2025 06:56

Trying to decide what to add to the comment section after the episode, it’s crying out for some feminist additions!

The comments on their twitter feed are a good read

Sidebeforeself · 23/04/2025 07:16

Also .. does this mean Alistair is disagreeing with his beloved Keir?! Or what Keir thinks today at least….

Sausagenbacon · 23/04/2025 07:25

I thought RS was OK.
AC was awful, no surprises there.

I really disagree about Rorys take. Hes acting like hes the first one who ever thought of unisex spaces but never acknowledges that unisex changing rooms really are statistically much more dangerous for women.

Then he claims that a transwoman in a skirt could be beat up by a man in the mens bathroom and that the solution would be unisex bathrooms but what is to stop the same man beating up the transwoman in the skirt in the unisex bathrooms. Clearly the problem is male violence and women shouldn't be responsible for stopping that through their presence.

Also claiming that case by case basis for prisons is the way to do things when up until recently thats whats been happening in UK prisons and women have been abused and traumatised by it.

Friends with a transman who runs a puberty blocking clinic that if children didn't get they'd kill themselves but has also read Cass so knows that to be false just won't say it.

I hate this faux pretending to be the sensible voice on this when clearly hasn't thought it through with any rigour.

I'm not even going to start my rant on Alastair Campbells take on this as I'd be here all day on how awful it is

VioletSpeedwell · 23/04/2025 07:37

I just can't bring myself to listen. Imagine those two having a pint with James O’Brien and Richard Madeley.

It shoes how bonkers this topic is that a Leftie like me finds her spiritual home on GB News, Talk TV and the Telegraph.

BlueEyedBogWitch · 23/04/2025 07:40

I’ve deliberately avoided listening as I feared it would go this way.

Thanks for taking one for the team and listening, OP. I’ve now unfollowed the show and followed Double Jeopardy instead.

The whole war crimes thing always made me feel uncomfortable listening to Alistair anyway.

Thethingswedoforlove · 23/04/2025 07:47

I’d love to leave a comment. Any good suggestions? I am thinking something around ‘facts’ has to be the way to go….

Talulahalula · 23/04/2025 08:02

Just ask them if they have actually read all 88 pages of the judgement and if they care to respond to some of the finest legal minds in the country about the incoherence of recognising certified sex as the protected characteristic along with biological sex.
The judgement is comprehensive and the judges have done women a huge service by providing it. Should people read and consider the contents, they would also see that the judges have clearly laid out the protections afforded to people with a GRC as well.
Women (and some men) have expended enormous amounts of time, money and energy at often significant cost to make the arguments now recognised in the judgement. If men cannot do the basic reading to inform their opinions rather than relying on sound bites and anecdote, then I think it shows a basic level of contempt for women and the law. And I judge that.

Gonners · 23/04/2025 08:13

I gave up on that podcast quite a while back as Alistair Campbell - name deliberately (and childishly) mis-spelled to register contempt - drives me to shouting "Nobody cares what "Tony" says/thinks!"

CheeseChamp · 23/04/2025 08:31

When RS started talking about his friend who works in getting puberty blockers to kids ... I was so disappointed. That's no friend. That person is extremely misguided if not, dare I say, evil. Strong word? No. STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM CHILDREN. That is literally all I care about. Trans women can use my bathroom, WHATEVER, just get off my kid and her childhood and fuck the fuck off trying to tell us that they were born in the wrong body, need sterilising and mutilating to be happy. STOP. Don't they see how evil and disgusting that is???

RoyalCorgi · 23/04/2025 08:36

He was so scathing about JK Rowling, because she had a cigar.

Does he really believes that JK Rowling smokes a cigar, or even smokes at all? (Has anyone ever previously seen a picture of her with a cigarette?) The cigar was surely just a prop for the joke, which was referencing Hannibal Smith in The A-Team.

Hypercatalectic · 23/04/2025 08:50

I have unsubscribed from this podcast as a result of that episode. I always got irritated when they bothered to ‘discuss’ the topic, I’m done with it now.
