Here at the Bluestocking there's a place for all women. A break from Reality, and many laughs and stories to share. Have your fill of Tunnocks bars and tea cakes, sing feminist anthems, drink as much beer or gin or hot chocolate as you desire. It won't make you fatter or drunken but oh, it's fun. Sit in the garden with our Lion resident or the Quokkas and Capybara. Express your opinions loudly in Pedantry Corner. Ask for whatever you fancy to be served by our obliging Gerbil staff. Come in, all women, welcome!

Pallas's cat remind me of scandalised Victorian gentlemen with fine muttonchop whiskers.

Love that cat. Never seen that variety before.

If I ever won the lottery, or one of the Omaze houses with a few acres, I’d buy a Maine Coone. Am allergic to cats apparently, but I’d just have the jabs. They are gooooorgeous!!

Magpiecomplex · 23/04/2025 18:08

Excellent idea, @CautiousLurker01. In fact, two excellent ideas - scampi fries in bulk plus a rum-enhanced hot chocolate sounds very restorative.

Boiledbeetle · 23/04/2025 18:12

Scampi fries is an unknown food item to AI.

Sorry!

Maybe someone else can rectify the situation.

Devil of a job to get Bing to stop adding ever increasing numbers of MEN and I think only one of those cats is authentically Pallas's. And the gerbils don't look nearly as nervous as they should.

I think the gerbils are still checking Isaiah 11:6-9

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb,
The leopard shall lie down with the young goat,
The calf and the young lion and the fatling together

because they are sure that it says

The gerbil shall share the public bar with a large number of cats

somewhere.

This is also useful for Pedantry Corner: the bible doesn't actually say the lion shall lie down with the lamb.

Somebody once said [I know who, but I won't name him because he is a persona non grata these days which is a pity because he didn't 'alf say some funny stuff]

The lion shall lie down with the lamb. But the lamb won't get much sleep.

Magpiecomplex · 23/04/2025 18:24

Best I could do... Gemini has turned into a master gaslighter. It told me with great authority that Scampi Fries come in red bags, presumably because it chose to portray them in a red bag.

Another of those sentences that only make sense at the Bluestocking!
It's as if we have a team of gerbils with typewriters trying to produce the Complete Works of Shakespeare and every now and then they throw out sentences like
Woley made a Parsley.
and
Who's the extra green lion who has nicked Swashy's cutlasses?
and
Either that bowser is very small, or those gerbils are very large.
Grin

I feel these should appear in a book of Useful English Phrases, translated into French, German, etc.

In addition to the other benefits of the Bluestocking, all the animals know the other animals are Friends not Food.

The proper Pallas cat shown upthread looks like a small snow leopard or suchlike.

The lion kind of sits guard over the lamb. If the prophet Isaiah knew about penguins he would have included a penguin. There actually are gerbil-sized rodents in there, up at the back with companion animals of yesteryear (who I hope are making straight a way for me).

I've skipped a few pages, so goodness knows what you lot are discussing now, but my memories of Music & Movement are of just taking off our shoes & socks for it, & going round & round the main hall of the infants school.

I was only ever bought sensible, round-toe, tan leather shoes, but one girl had pointy cherry red shoes with holes making a pattern around them, & as we went round & round passing the collection of discarded shoes each time, little me tried to come up with a plan which would allow me to snatch these beautiful shoes at the end of the lesson & make off with them.

I couldn't. So I didn't. But I wanted to sooooooo much.

I was equally covetous of the extra large pack of crayola crayons because it had particularly rare taupe/denim blue crayon in it that you couldn’t get in the standard packs. I toyed with pinching them from the local shop every time we visited (most days after school). Strangely I am wearing a sweater the exact same colour today. Somehow it just speaks to me…

😂Somewhere I read someone's addition to the Psalmist's 'I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills' which as a lazy person I sincerely agree with:

'I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, but I see no reason to drag my carcase up there.'

I assume, btw, that the Bluey has a reverse zip wire to get to Peak Woo, or better still, a chairlift. I've tried to get Bing to make an image of me ascending Peak Woo in the most luxurious chairlift imaginable, but it appears to be broken & unable to create a single image.😱

CautiousLurker01 · 23/04/2025 19:07

Here I am, in said sweater! Hid the gin…

@CautiousLurker01 Glad you got your colour. I have a pair of cherry red, circular-hole-patterned shoes upstairs somewhere - but they're wedges & have a shiny gold lining, so they're even more 😍😍😍than hers were.

Waiting for MN HQ to approve the sensitive image. Should have worn more than a g string, I suppose…

There's a funicular railway to take you the top of Peak Woo.

When I was little I would have killed for a pair of gold or silver strappy sandals. I visited Blackpool Tower ballroom, which at the time was lovely, so chill. There were little old ladies their who, I swear, could barely shuffle. When they stepped onto the dance floor the years fell away from them, they just glided round. They were wearing my sandals! 😠 I can't dance. Bloodshed was avoided.

😁.. I'm sorry to see your left paw was involved in some sort of industrial accident. Do you still have the full range of movement?

Yeah, I got it caught in a sloe press on a UK tour of Gin distilleries with SAGA. My own fault, of course, but my drinking paw is fully functioning!

I had a series of pairs of gold strappy sandals as a child, they were my party shoes! I think they came from BHS and weren't expensive. My mum had the possibly slightly odd opinion that I needed to learn how to walk in heels, and the sandals were her solution to that.

If you want it to, it does. That's how the Bluey works. I tried to take a photo using a different way in, but it's still not working 😥.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 23/04/2025 19:25

Thanks, Cake, I forgot about the funicular railway.
