Scottish Greens being sexist again

With Sparkles no longer a member other male Scottish Greens have had to step up to continue their terrible reputation. They are doing their bit.

Scottish Greens council candidate claimed JK Rowling was a Holocaust denier and said trans rapist Isla Bryson was a woman
Exclusive: Eryn Browning has been chosen by the Scottish Greens to contest a by-election in Clydebank Waterfront but offensive historic posts have resurfaced.

There is hope the Scottish Greens might plunge into civil war after their conference. Patrick Harvie is standing down as leader but Slater is standing again and there is opposition over her elitist behaviour.

I agree with everything you wrote.

Resilience is really important, as is learning to work towards something and overcoming challenges on the way to achievement.

This was why I mentioned AI. It's frightening stuff.

Being politically homeless, I contacted the Scottish Greens to ask about their position on women's rights to help me decide who to vote for in May. I wrote quite a long message outlining my concerns about how women's rights were being affected by trans ideology, and gave some actual impacts on women and children. The entire response:
We believe that trans women are women and should be treated as such despite the Supreme Court ruling.
Well at least it is clear! And better than last year's email before the UK election when they didn't bother to respond. Needless to say they will not be getting my vote...

Bloody hell. As you say, at least they're clear, they just don't care about women at all.

YourJollyHiker · 26/03/2026 16:21

Don't care about women, children or indeed the law it seems. I really wish we had a decent environmental political party in Scotland.

I want to know whether there's a German version of mumsnet, where German women are tearing their hair out over their loony lefty politicians...

Unfortunately not afaik.

Birgit Sippel isn't even a Green or Linkspartei politician. She's in the mainstream SPD, which tells you how far the party of Willy Brandt and Helmut Schmidt has devolved into craziness.

There is Rund Ums Baby but it has gone completely tits up. I used to be a fairly active poster in its Aktuell forum (more than ten years ago) but it's pretty much dead. Days can go by without anyone posting and if there are posts it's usually just posters accusing each other of being far right/left.

I've looked up "feministisches_forum" and it's wall to wall "Queer feminism".
I think German women are a long way behind on this.

This is one of those areas where the principle bumps up against the outcome, isn't it?

I mean I'm not unsympathetic to arguments for electoral reform, but then it turns out electoral reform means you can't vote out Maggie Chapman.

ArabellaScott · 31/03/2026 08:37

Is there an argument its best keeping people like Maggie Chapman in parliament where we can see what she's up to? 80k per annum to keep her away from general public life may be no bad thing. Plus, she is a very helpful proponent of the Let Them Speak strategy.

Lalgarh · 31/03/2026 11:35

Statement from Guy Ingerson saying he has been blocked and smeared to stop him standing. This giving Chapman the candidacy

Eh, not even remotely! She has far too much power in parliament, she'd be ignored in most jobs

Pure manipulation and abuse of process. GP is terribly vulnerable to this - see.'gc' members who are constantly suspended pending repeated investigations due to malicious complaints.

guinnessguzzler · 01/04/2026 07:07

Yes, the BBC article certainly makes it sound like Chapman is highly problematic. It doesn't seem right that Ingerson had to be replaced because there was an outstanding complaint against him when the person replacing him is in the same boat. So the Greens aren't just completely deluded about sex, they are also full of power-crazed bullies and in-fighting.

Wasn't her last job at Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre? And now they can't even recruit a CEO because noone will touch it! Admittedly not solely because of Chapman but she definitely helped create the culture and conditions that led to that shitshow. Speaking of, I see the job ad for CEO of Rape Crisis Scotland is now out, wonder who will end up there. What a mess these numpties make wherever they go.

ArabellaScott · 01/04/2026 08:01

'Ingerson topped a vote of party members last summer. He defeated Chapman, a sitting MSP in the region.'

😁

I remember when the lib Dems went into coalition there was a piece that said the more Naice and innately progressive "nice party" a group projects itself as, the more insanely ruthless and petty the internal politics. The writer was basing that on the record of the lib Dems in local government

The whole saga is worse than the article describes. Chapman (allegedly) has some kind of enforcement mob doing her bidding in the party. Some eejit got kicked out after offering to to sort out Ingerson for her! Naturally, when he got caught he claimed he was only joking. The Courier did a series of articles on it and it all sounded so farcical I don't know how anyone can take these people seriously.

Justme56 · 01/04/2026 09:40

There was something on X where Ingerson was described as a ‘visually impaired, working class, queer person’ and even with all that, Chapman managed to get in.

Oh I hadn't heard that one 😂
He looks like he identifies as a normal man, and I'm all for it.

guinnessguzzler · 01/04/2026 10:01

@Lalgarh That sounds about right!

@GinaWhoLikesADrink Bloody hell! It all sounds so dodgy.

How do they have time to actually get anything done?
