Women's rights general conversations - Thread 10

Continuation of Thread 9.

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or "Has anybody noticed this recurring theme that keeps coming up??" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions in the supermarket, grr"- that sort of thing).

OK, so it looks like the TRA was making sure the bunny charity was nice and pure and not following any of the wrong people.

I understand that following people doesn't mean you endorse them but looking at who you follow I was able to find quite a few anti-trans/far right accounts in under a minute

If you truly support us I'd reccomend not following back the anti-trans/far right people in your audience. "

A couple more tweets.

Here is the issue. I support bunnies. I’m not here to advocate trans lives nor transphobia. It’s literally just about bunnies."

And I respect the work you do for bunnies, however you can't accept trans people into your community if you're also accepting people who want to take away our rights or even want us dead."

Kucinghitam · 02/06/2025 09:55

These people are absolutely batshit (or bunnyshit) bonkers!

OP posts:

Juno (PearFucker) sounds like a complete delight.

Why would anyone take advice from someone who calls themself 'PearFucker'?

NoBinturongsHereMate · 02/06/2025 12:29

On the plus side, my timeline is now full of adorable bunny pics - and I think the charity has had a surge of donations on the back of this.

TakingMyChancesWithTheRabbits · 04/06/2025 04:03

Reading all the bunny posts has now earwormed me with the "Bunnies! Bunnies! It must be Bunnies!" bit from the musical episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Which is nearly 25 years old (having looked it up). I have got some weird shit lurking in the recesses of my brain.

FlowchartRequired · 04/06/2025 08:22

Ahhh... 'Once more with feeling!'

The greatest musical episode in a long running series ever made IMO. Anya really didn't like rabbits.

Kucinghitam · 04/06/2025 08:34

Bunnies aren't just cute like everybody supposes!
They've got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses!
And what's with all the carrots?
What do they need such good eyesight for anyway?
Bunnies, bunnies!
It must be bunnies!

I might start rewatching BTVS now (plus Angel of course).

Kucinghitam · 04/06/2025 10:21

I think the thread should turn to really weighty issues like...

Angel or Spike?

OP posts:
FlowchartRequired · 04/06/2025 11:24

Spike (with soul) and Buffy.
Angel and Cordelia should have been given a proper chance to be together. We shall not mention Connor.

Spike without a soul is such a great character, although the gambling for kittens is not something that I am for (I don't think it works out well for the kittens). 🐈

Kucinghitam · 04/06/2025 11:51

Spike (without shirt), don't care about the soul Grin

OP posts:
NoBinturongsHereMate · 04/06/2025 12:02

Spike. No doubt about it.

  • Sexier.
  • If you compare their behaviour without souls, he is the fundamentally better person.
  • Also, sexier.
NotMeekNotObedient · 04/06/2025 12:21

Spike for me too ❤️

FlowchartRequired · 04/06/2025 12:25

Plus, Billy Idol stole his look.

Britinme · 04/06/2025 12:43

Britinme · 04/06/2025 12:43

I have never watched BTVS..,

Lucky you! You get to watch it (and Angel) with fresh eyes.

I am so jealous!

It may be very 90s and have lots of special effects that are a bit dated by modern standards, but it is brilliant for character development and plot arcs. OK, it has its good and bad episodes (season 5 is most people's favourite as that was a Hell of a strong season) but overall it shows why modern TV needs to ditch the message and get back to great storytelling.

Kucinghitam · 04/06/2025 13:49

We recently introduced DDs to BtVS and they've now watched up to the end of Season 5 and stopped there. We're pretending the final two seasons don't exist because they were rubbish, especially Season 7. But we'll show them OMWF at some point because it's marvellous!

OP posts:
FlowchartRequired · 04/06/2025 13:53

Are you going to show them Angel? You could always stop when Cordelia goes on holiday, although the final season is amazing, and I think the final episode is my favourite final episode of any season of TV ever.

Kucinghitam · 04/06/2025 13:56

Yes, might move on to Angel. I didn't enjoy the series as much as the original BtVS, but there are a few standout episodes. The muppet one, for example.

OP posts:
TakingMyChancesWithTheRabbits · 05/06/2025 03:57

The problem with the Angel vs Spike thing is Spike was more fun as a character, but bleached blondes really aren't my thing. So on balance I'd have to say... Giles.

BezMills · 05/06/2025 07:32

Sad eyes of Wesley

FlowchartRequired · 05/06/2025 08:45

If someone said give me an example of good charcter development, I would have to say Wesley. He changes so much from how he first appears in Buffy to how he is at the end of Angel.

I see the appeal of Giles more now that I am older. I wish the Ripper series had been made. That man had a few secrets.

Kucinghitam · 05/06/2025 10:35

I agree with @FlowchartRequired about Wesley's character development. Also that Giles was way sexier than he seemed (looking back he was cleverly portrayed as seen through the eyes of his teenage charges).

Still Spike for me though!
