Here for your delight and delectation is the hostelry by, for, and about wise, intelligent, creative and kind women, their assorted avatars including (but not limited to) a remarkable beetle, an astute android, a wise cake, and an assembly of companion creatures and animal assistants.

Food and drink available in abundance, all with remarkable non-damaging qualities.

Males may congregate in the nearby Staunch Ally and sometimes visit the stableyard to view outdoor performances by the gerbil waitstaff (who need to be distracted after the moment after that terrible 'misunderstanding' about the meaning of safe sex).

last thread here if you need to know why the Quokkas need some extra cuddles, and why the Cabybaras are being particularly efficient just now

I found this pebble on the beach today. Thought it was unusual; as if somebody had peeled it like a tangerine. But now it also looks a bit like a muppet who is holding forth.

It looks as if someone did something terrible to a Tunnock's Teacake.

I’ve had a quick gaze and can see that.
Didn’t tell the pebble; wouldn’t want to body shame him 🤣

Britinme · 09/03/2025 19:52

Maybe he was interrupted in coming out in his true identity?

Maybe he was interrupted in coming out in his true identity?

Ah, yes. No wonder he is holding forth!

FuzzyPuffling · 09/03/2025 20:26

He's fine, he's just got a chip on his shoulder..

MyrtleLion · 09/03/2025 20:38

Can someone direct message Boily on TwiX? My username there is not the same as here otherwise I would do it myself.

@MyrtleLion

I assumed the news that Boiley had gone on holiday with a new friend was genuine….

Was I being naive?

I don't know. It's hard to distinguish between fact and fantasy here...

DeanElderberry · 09/03/2025 21:20

oh no it isn't

Pantomime in March?

No, it's behind us

DeanElderberry · 10/03/2025 08:07

Never pantomime in the Bluestocking.

Commedia dell'arte

That said, it really is behind you!

Ah yes; so much more in keeping 😊.

MarieDeGournay · 10/03/2025 17:13

It's all gone a bit quiet here in the Bluestocking today. Does this mug capture the mood?

EdithStourton · 10/03/2025 17:17

Marie, that is the sort of mug one needs on one's desk in one of those insufferably jolly offices where everyone is always keen to pop to the pub for a swift half after work...

Magpiecomplex · 10/03/2025 17:40

I've been banging my head against an institutional brick wall all afternoon (external, not internal for a change) so I will order a vat of hot chocolate big enough to swim in, with a pizza chaser, and another hot chocolate after that please. Plus something or someone to vent at - make sure they have ear defenders on.

MarieDeGournay · 10/03/2025 18:06

My day - already not great as a lot of pain from a trapped nerve - just got worse cos I opened a kitchen cupboard - not a foody one, but a tall one that used to be the 'hot press', where I keep tea towels and bags and things like that - and saw that a mouse has been nibbling at things.

How the heck do they get up to that height? pole vault??
I closed the door, and walked away, I just can't deal with it now, and my immediate reaction was to run away and abandon the house🙄

Meantime the rodent is having a lovely time.
I wish a gerbil could pop around and talk its cousin into leaving me alone.

Last time I had a rodent visitor I got a pest control guy around and he said that he could charge me several hundred euro to try to seal the house, but because it's a terraced house, they'll just come back by some other internal route, and he didn't feel it was right to take my money. Noble of him, but defeatist.

I don't mind mice qua mice and if they weren't dirty they'd be as welcome as a Bluestocking gerbil but
And I won't do lethal traps, though maybe I'll try a humane one.. oh it just ran past!😨

I'll have what Magpie's having, please, with extra toppings on everything.

FuzzyPuffling · 10/03/2025 18:15

I'm quiet while real life intrudes a horrid way.
Send quokkas and Rosy.

MyrtleLion · 10/03/2025 18:29

Messages received and AI is on it. Bear with!

Note we are an equal opportunity employer as the gerbil has a limb difference.
