Here for your delight and delectation is the hostelry by, for, and about wise, intelligent, creative and kind women, their assorted avatars including (but not limited to) a remarkable beetle, an astute android, a wise cake, and an assembly of companion creatures and animal assistants.

Food and drink available in abundance, all with remarkable non-damaging qualities.

Males may congregate in the nearby Staunch Ally and sometimes visit the stableyard to view outdoor performances by the gerbil waitstaff (who need to be distracted after the moment after that terrible 'misunderstanding' about the meaning of safe sex).

last thread here if you need to know why the Quokkas need some extra cuddles, and why the Cabybaras are being particularly efficient just now

The physio was very encouraging, @MarieDeGournay - thank you for asking. She had a good look at my knee and said she reckons I've torn some fibres of my hamstring, but haven't ruptured the whole thing, because if I had, there would be swelling and bruising. She says it will take a while to heal completely, but she expects it to have improved by the next time she sees me.

@FuzzyPuffling - I am in awe at how much you have accomplished today - I have done nothing, apart from managing to have a shower - most of the week I have been relying on a sit down wash, because I couldn't stand long enough for a whole shower, but it felt better today.

My plan for the day is knitting in front of the TV. I am on the final part of the body of the sweater for dh's brother, and then his wife has asked me to knit her a cardigan, ds2 wants me to crochet hydrangeas for his girlfriend, and I still have a sweater to finish for dh - and eventually, I have the yarn to knit myself a cardigan - maybe next year!!

That's positive news about the knee, Myrtle - it's always good to have that expert opinion about what's really going on, and how best to deal with it, isn't it? I find that knowing why something hurts takes away the worried speculation about how bad it might be!
Hope it improves soon.

Your knitting schedule is impressive! and a nice creative way to make the time pass while sitting around waiting for your knee to healSmile

Fuzzy - you are WonderPuffling, and deserve all those medals and the rest of the weekend off!

I think it's Wolef's knee.

I'm struggling with thinking about leaving my best friend because she lives too far away, doesn't drive and refuses to move next door to me away from her lovely home to a completely different area that would be a terrible commute for her. She is being unreasonable.

Obviously I should LTB but she is otherwise a lovely and supportive friend. What to do?!

FuzzyPuffling · 01/03/2025 15:22

Thank you all for the applause and medals. I feel humbled and honoured.
A day off tomorrow isn't going to happen...I have been to the paint shop and can now tackle the fence and shed. DH has said he'll finish the decking.

Sitting on the sofa now watching "A Place in the Sun" ( guilty pleasure). Why is European interior design stuck firmly in 1970? Why is there never a single person in any of the pools?

You can't leave her. What you need to do is visit her more often! Or you could move to live next door to her ...

Impossible I know. I have several far away friends. I love spending time with them and wish they lived nearer.

Got slightly confused while reading your post and pictured you sitting on a comfy swing seat on the patio reading a book called "A Place in the Sun".

Sorry for casting aspersions on your knee, Myrtle!
I went back and added a name to make my post friendlier, but added the wrong oneConfused

Had a great time in London with my friend. Stayed up.late in a cocktail bar. Discovered she lives two train changes away and the second train arrived late so I missed my connection. On a train home but it's been just over two hours.

Lovely sunny day and DH is picking me up at the station.

AIBU to think that ny BFF should move to a more convenient location for me? Like next door? 😂

lcakethereforeIam · 01/03/2025 18:15

Could you both move house to some place somewhere in the middle?

Glad the professional assessment of the knee is positive.

Puffling looks adorable on the swing and the beak is probably getting to be on point.

Happy Saint David's Day

Do we have any Welsh Blueys?

DeanElderberry · 01/03/2025 20:01

Daffodil

can't find a dragon so just double hearts for any Welsh, and happysad memories of a dear little non-Welsh Limerick Dingo who joined my family on March 1st 20 years ago, and wasn't named David.

I am not Welsh, but I am learning Welsh on duolingo, @ErrolTheDragon. So I can say Bore da, ErrolDraig, which means hello Errol the Dragon.

FuzzyPuffling · 01/03/2025 20:42

I lived in Wales for a few years. Doesn't count though, but Happy St David's Day.

MyrtleLion · 02/03/2025 00:01

I tried to show everyone celebrating St David's Day and the AI did its thing. 😭

The version without men and with new daffodils was much worse.

A tad belatedly, Dydd Gwyl Dewi da i bawb.

Ddim yn hir tan y gwanwyn, merched hyfryd!

I lived in Wales in the long-ago, and went to Welsh lessons, and learned the phrases "sut mae" and "nos da", but now ... google translate, when it feels like obliging.

The dragon is one of the old emoticons that's not publicised - you just type dragon in square brackets. I'm probably the only person who uses it!Grin

Are Welsh dragons meant to have horns or has there been some experimentation with sheep?Confused

No, Welsh dragons don't have horns.

Most of the usual Welsh breeds of sheep are hornless, both male and female, though Welsh Mountain rams do have horns.

In this case I'm inclined to blame AI fever dreams rather than interspecies goings-on around the remoter slopes of my country.

Magpiecomplex · 02/03/2025 10:33

Or maybe the Welsh dragon found a discarded set of horns and decided to wear them as an adornment? Like a fascinator.
