No, seriously, I'm upset about that, I hope N. doesn't think it was intentional - d'you think I should PM her to tell her I'm sorry about it?🙁

Oh bless you it does mean naughty cant also a reference to derek and Clive I believe

(Dudley Moore and Peter Cook)

i really would not worry about it

MyrtleLion · 12/02/2025 21:52

Still tired, but I've been making models - very fiddly. And I didn't make the shortlist for a role I was told to apply for. Five months since I lost my job and not a single interview yet. Very demoralising.

Thank you for asking xx

Very sorry about the shortlisting situation, Myrtle. As we say in this house, they have no taste.

FuzzyPuffling · 12/02/2025 21:56

Aw Myrtle, I'm sorry to hear that. Somewhere there's a lion- shaped space just waiting for you. X

Britinme · 12/02/2025 21:56

Shame none of the fuckers recognises how brilliant you are Myrtle, but we know.

Bannedontherun · 12/02/2025 21:57

@MyrtleLion Sorry it will be okay xxx

Igmum · 12/02/2025 21:58

And I'm hoping that it is a generously paid lion shaped hole with good fringe benefits and lovely colleagues.

Thank you Banned, I was really upset about it because I started it as a humorous way to thank N. for all her work at keeping the threads going, and it unexpected turned into people making fun of her username😕
Not sure why it bothered me so much, but it did🤔
Anyway N. probably has a sense of humour and gets the references you mention, which I'm not familiar with, so I'm sure it's all grand.
Thank youSmile

I'm sorry Myrtle, that's no fun.

I am not greatly impressed with Gemini currently. I haven't specified a colour in any of the requests, but for some reason it is absolutely convinced that a frilly skirt just has to be pink.

get well soon and keep going and stay strong Myrtle! BrewCake

MyrtleLion · 12/02/2025 22:14

Thank you for all the love. I was unfairly dismissed in September after a vicious and personal vendetta against me by someone I thought was a friend. I was very senior with a high income and the intention was to destroy me professionally and financially.

We eventually agreed terms in November but it's been very hard as I was in a niche organisation. The current job market is very tough and every candidate shortlisted is very closer to the role requirements.

MyrtleLion · 12/02/2025 21:49

<saunters in... grumpily>

I see we've moved.

This bodice is too tight for me. And I'm really not cut out for frou-frou skirts...

I was nearly locked in the craft room and I've had to move all the models myself because all the gerbils left without checking.

And there are beetles. A lot of beetles.

Ahhhh...

I take it you are adopting the ones on your dress.

Please say yes I've got hundreds of them to get rid of find loving homes for.

They will be disposed of appropriately.

I mean, they turn into butterflies, dying don't they?

There you go. There's a few more hiding somewhere, I'll send them in a taxi when I locate them.

Please feel free to worry about gerbils, frou frou skirts etc. I have just dropped by for a bottle of @MarieDeGournay 's chambertin grand cru.

How many bottles of Chambertin Grand Cru do you think I have at my disposal....oh wait, this is the Bluestocking, so the answer is 'an infinity of bottles' so help yourself! Santé!🍷Smile

Beetle I didn't know you had child bearing hips, or any hips come to think of it. The gerbil baby beetle sitter seems to have put them in prison stripes...I approve.

Sorry about the shortlist MyrtleGin

Good call

I thought they were colorado beetles, after our potatoes. I mean, the gerbils appear to be sleeping in vegetable baskets.

Are you sure this Bluestocking is in the right universe?

Maybe it's a 'Man Friday' who mistook it for a pond.

(If you weren't around at the time, a few years ago in response to the incursion of males into the Ladies Hampstead pond, a couple of doughty women donned bathers and fake facial hair; I'm not sure if they were successful in their attempt to swim in the men's pond despite their 'identity'. These were the 'Man Fridays')

Hello lovely people! It is so good to see you all. I have been laughing like a drain at the thread so far. Such a relief after Fife, you know.

Wasn't there a bat somewhere round the place the other day? Bats eat beetles (only little baby ones, unless the bats are humungous big, I don't think Boily has anything to worry about).

Since she does not seem very emotionally attached to her shameful bundles, maybe it would be for the best if . . .
