Bats? Well, there's always Soupy. I'm not sure where the other one came from tbh.

I'm coming in and dropping some pasties off, but the Donut doesn't do Frou Frou, just saying.

DeanElderberry · 13/02/2025 09:24

The only Bluesockers required to wear frou-frou were the dancing gerbils rehearsing or performing their opening night routine.

Which was a triumph, hence the prevailing hush this morning.

If anyone sees a gerbil persisting in performative frills that they find personally offputting, they are free to ask for a return to normal furry form. The staff workwear protocol is relaxed, but not non-existent. Refer the issue to H&G&a LBs&C&aAsR (1) if necessary.

And PS, @AlisonDonut , in case something distracted you yesterday (can't imagine what), the gerbils' frou-frou was welcomed as an alternative to some excessively verbose bloke (I assume from the username and writing style) droning on about epistemology elsethread.

Magpiecomplex · 13/02/2025 09:45

Thanks Dean.

Frou-frou skirts were indeed only for the gerbils, and are no longer mandatory.

The overly verbose example I saw that word in was a woman, tbf. And some of the discussion in the posts around it was quite positive, on balance I think.

Chersfrozenface · 13/02/2025 09:53

I loved ra-ra skirts when they were a thing. I still like ruffle skirts when I can get away with them.

I'd take any discarded frou-frous off the gerbils but I'm not undoing seams and sewing together eleventy billion teeny skirts to make one that would fit me.

Anyway, I must get back to my shot taffeta confection. Annoying fraying git as taffeta is.

I must say, this place is the fanciest I’ve ever been to. I feel quite whelmed. Nay overwhelmed!

Bats? Did somebody say bats? Well that got someone excited!😄

There's quiet cosy corners too, bars where muddy boots are welcome etc etc.
It's basically the women's pub version of the Room of Requirement.

MyrtleLion · 13/02/2025 10:54

Another "we will not be progressing with your application. We nonetheless thank you for your time and effort taken to participate in the process" this morning. The closing date for that one is tomorrow.

😭😭😭😭😭😭

GIN!!!

LOTS OF GIN!!! (Specifically the kind that gets you very, very, very drunk for the time that you need to be drunk, and then miraculously become instantly sober without a hangover when needed.)

Come and join me in BookNookCorner. Warm blankets, much reading matter and sensible, unadorned gerbils bringing refreshments.

Ahhhhhhh........

was it? I couldn't see beyond the plantain fruit support garment. Cultural references aside, that is something only necessary for a person with a plantain fruit. And after a certain medic's carry-on, I am mistrustful of people's statements.

Anyhow, speaking of cultural references, I was thinking of Mrs Beetle, doubtless a matriarch of Boily's clan, and wondering would she be able to train four of these youngsters up into one of those jazz bands. She has form, after all.

Someone (not me) might have a word with Boily re: the desirability of flying in the face of nature if she plans more dissipation.

anyhoo, back to thread 15.

and 16?!?

Britinme · 13/02/2025 11:57

Sympathies @MyrtleLion . Reminds me of the emails I get regularly along the lines of "Thank you for sending us your wonderful poetry which we really enjoyed reading. However we will not be publishing it at this time."

ErrolTheDragon · 13/02/2025 12:02

We are quite possibly thinking about different posts, Deano as your 'plantain fruit' reference is bananas to me.ConfusedGrin

MyrtleLion · 13/02/2025 12:18

As I'm not currently working, I trained some beetles to be jazz musicians. They have a drumkit but no drummer, which they are trying to disguise by standing behind the drumkit.

The Bluestocking. All gerbils welcome, must have own frou-frou skirt.
FuzzyPuffling · 13/02/2025 12:38

Ah, the long awaited Beetles reform.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 13/02/2025 12:39

The Beetles. Hmmmm - not sure it's a band name that will catch on. 😉😂

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 13/02/2025 12:39

Great minds, @FuzzyPuffling!

Thank you for all the love. I was unfairly dismissed in September after a vicious and personal vendetta against me by someone I thought was a friend. I was very senior with a high income and the intention was to destroy me professionally and financially.

We eventually agreed terms in November but it's been very hard as I was in a niche organisation. The current job market is very tough and every candidate shortlisted is very closer to the role requirements.

I am beyond furious for you, @MyrtleLion. Fingers crossed for better news on the job front soon.

MyrtleLion · 13/02/2025 12:47

Thank you x

DeanElderberry · 13/02/2025 12:52

Myrtle, it stinks, and this bit a vicious and personal vendetta against me by someone I thought was a friend gave me horrible flashbacks.

You never 'get over' it, you just have to go on. There'll be real friends ahead.

FuzzyPuffling · 13/02/2025 14:17

DH and I got royally screwed over by some friends a couple of years ago. It really hurts. Much worse than if some random person does it. Hugs to you Myrtle.

Thank you, and I'm so sorry it happened to you. You're so right, and I am going on.

I was completely blindsided and I couldn't work out why except it was about the ex-friend's insecurities. Even if I was utterly destroyed it would still not be enough. I don't know what I did that meant the ex-friend turned on me, but it was four years of being my friend before it all kicked off.
