NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #14

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to continue for 2 weeks although once it was in to the second week it was looking like this would not happen. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on Thursday 6 February.

Access to view the hearing remotely was obtainable by sending an email request to [email protected] headed Public Access Request (Peggie v Fife Health Board) 4104864/2024 and requesting access.

However, as a result of problems with the livestreaming, apparently, as a result of a very large number of observers, remote public access to the hearing was suspended on Tuesday 11 February. It was suggested that it might be reinstated at some point but don't count on it.

This from earlier - is this Schrodinger's patient safety issue again? This is one of the incidents that HE reported as a patient safety concern.

I guess this is his excuse for not reporting it until a considerable time later.

It refers to the incident when Sandy (outrageously) asked him to take a set of obs.

DU I was busy, stressed. It was late at night. Patient safety not compromised cos I can take ob s so don't immediately need to raise it. Can't recall why I didn't raise it earlier. Perhaps I was still naively thinking it was a lower level comms issue not patient safety.

First time alleging this bollocks about SP intentions.

Isn't one of DUs assertions that he was "trapped" in the CR by SP and couldn't leave?

That's a generous interpretation of the judge in my view.

Not sure how wise it is for JR to draw attention to this. Isn't it just evidence that he was out to get her? Her or me.

Why is he worried that SP would recruit others to her side? I thought he already said everyone else was fine with it.

I think he ended up saying he was metaphorically trapped because he couldn't leave until she'd agreed with him and she wouldn't.

So this witch-hunt against a nurse of 30 years was based on something this deluded, vindictive man-child imagined she might do?

And the NHS happily played along with this.

This man spends more time controlling others' thoughts and actions than he does being an actual doctor.

If there is so much importance on who was standing where, should they have not performed an reenactment?

DU: me by toilets, she presumably, must be between me and door, me and the lockers, in the middle
