The Blue Stockings Society was founded by women emphasising education and mutual cooperation. Men could attend as invited guests, but in this Women's Pub, they are only welcome to peer enviously through the windows.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Stockings_Society

All women welcome!

All tastes catered for.

All food containing calories will not increase waistlines.

All drink containing alcohol will not intoxicate beyond the mildy merry and slightly inhibited stage. Guaranteed no hangovers.

Don't mind the gerbils, hamster, capybaras, quokkas and other assorted rodents. They're all female, all staff and very accommodating...

<Goes off to cry>

Hi all,
We've now disabled image posting from the site and are working on removing it from the Apps. We're also looking at some longer term AI alternatives to prevent recognise harmful content prior to being posted but they'll most likely take a few days to implement. Thanks."

Imagine me in the corner being consoled by gerbils bringing hot chocolate, Tunnocks and fluffy blankets.

They could at least buy a bigger gif package until it's sorted!

Boiledbeetle · 03/02/2025 19:13

That is a very odd colour combination for school uniform.

I'd add the AI creations but can't add images, I presume that's due to the overnight troll photo attack?

The school has recently gone co-ed. I'm mildly interested to see whether the boys are going to be wearing pink shirts too...

DeanElderberry · 03/02/2025 19:47

Lovely imaginary gerbils. Pity about the images but obviously the right call in this situation.

FuzzyPuffling · 03/02/2025 20:09

I am imagining a group of gerbils in a wide-range of school uniforms.

Magpiecomplex · 03/02/2025 20:30

The nice thing about imagination is that it does what you tell it to. No swearing at it when it insists on adding a random man in the image, or refuses to include something you specifically asked for!

ErrolTheDragon · 03/02/2025 20:35

The reason for the suspension of image posting is horrible.
But I'm not too sorry about missing AI'd school uniforms.

JanesLittleGirl · 03/02/2025 20:55

Given that AI is a male project, I hate to think what the output would be if it was asked to produce an image of a girl in school uniform.

FuzzyPuffling · 03/02/2025 21:12

I am confining my imagination to gerbils.

I'm really sorry about last night's utter unpleasantness on MN. I'm glad I didn't see any of it- there are some very sick people about.

Given that AI is a male project, I hate to think what the output would be if it was asked to produce an image of a girl in school uniform.

So, as I can't post the images. I asked:

Depict a school aged girl dressed in school uniform of virulent pink shirt and navy skirt

Depict a school aged beetle dressed in school uniform of virulent pink shirt and navy skirt

Depict a school aged magpie dressed in school uniform of virulent pink shirt and navy skirt

Girl: Photo of a very innocent looking pretty white schoolgirl aged about 12? With long flowing blonde hair with a loose twist to the flowing locks sat over the strap of her backpack on her right side. (backpack correctly on both shoulders). Wearing a pink shirt with ruffle feature up the button bit, partly turned up arms on the shirt. A thin blue ribbon tied in a bow at the neck. The shirt is pleated but the picture cuts off. But judging from the blurred image behind of another girl wearing the same outfit the skirt is about 6 inches higher than her kneecaps. The blurred image girl is wearing white socks that come about 3/4 of the way up your calf.

Beetle: Photo of a Beetle (correct leg and antenna count) A fine looking Boiled wearing a pink shirt tucked into her skirt. The shirt has short sleeves with a turned up edge. There is a left breast pocket. A properly tied navy tie is around the collar, clearly showing that I did not do up my top button. Wearing a navy blue pleated skirt that sits just below knee height. I'm also carrying a very handbag looking brown satchel. No shoes or socks.

Magpie: a Magpie with wonderful blue white and pink plummage. Wearing a pink sleeveless shirt with a white collar and a blue tie. No undone top button for Magpie! She's wearing a brown leather? Rucksack over her wings. No shoes or socks. Wearing a navy blue pleated skirt that quite frankly shows her arse and I will expect her in detention tomorrow after school.

Magpiecomplex · 03/02/2025 21:28

I'm quite grateful I can't see the magpie version, Boily!

Thank you for taking one for the team! It reads like it could have been a lot worse.... pace Magpie's arseGrin

[I'm expecting to be summoned to Pedantry Corner about the imprecise use of 'pace', but who could resist writing the phrase 'pace Magpie's arse - it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, innit?Wink]

Britinme · 03/02/2025 21:51

I totally missed whatever it was happened last night - anyone care to enlighten me beyond 'it was very unpleasant' or would I rather not know?

lcakethereforeIam · 03/02/2025 21:56

Yes. What happened?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 03/02/2025 21:58

Over the space of about 5 hours, Cat A CSA images were posted on random threads. People were hitting ‘Report’, but reports go to MNHQ, not to the Night Watch - voluntary, unpaid night mods. Eventually these posts were brought to the Night Watch’s attention, and the pictures were removed, but more were popping up on other threads, so the NW were playing whack-a-mole.

lcakethereforeIam · 03/02/2025 22:07

That's vile. I wonder if any other fora were targeted? I'm glad I didn't see it. I don't want that in my head. I'm sorry for the posters that weren't so fortunate.

I'm really glad I fell asleep and didn't spend the middle of the night scrolling aimlessly as I'd been reading some of the threads they appeared on earlier in the evening.

lcakethereforeIam · 03/02/2025 22:15

I'm going to assume there's been a Police report. It's probably a slim chance but I hope they get someone for it. Not least because they had to have the images to repost them.

MyrtleLion · 03/02/2025 22:15

FuzzyPuffling · 03/02/2025 07:59

Myrtle was yours a GPDST school?

Probably originally but it went co-ed and comprehensive a few years before I attended.

Oh my god, that is horrible. I completely missed it too. I am sorry for those people who had to see those images.

Bannedontherun · 03/02/2025 22:51

Hmm i guess it just goes to show precisely who are associated with the anti MN movement

DeanElderberry · 04/02/2025 07:09

The place I went to in England was GPDST. Ghastly place. The obsession with weird uniform details was symptomatic, I am so lucky I escaped.

Yes, I read a bit of some of the threads on Site Stuff, MNHQ have reported it to the police.

lcakethereforeIam · 04/02/2025 10:56

I'm not sure about my secondary school. My sister went there a couple of years ahead of me. A hat, with hat band, was part of the uniform and by far the most expensive. My mum had to get her one but she never wore it. When I went, two years later, the hats were gone and I never, ever saw one except the neglected one at home. I believe the design for the summer dress had also changed, the new design was blue check as seen through wibbly glass. Grey skirt or pinafore, white shirt, tie (although was all girls), grey cardi or v-necked jumper and a thin coloured sash, worn round the waist to show your year. The sash was supplied by the school and some were very tatty. The blazer was the same colour green as the fake grass that butchers used to display their wares on. There must have been a pool of a few thousand that were traded amongst the community. I don't know that anyone ever had a new one. They were made of very thick cloth and weighed a ton. Too hot in summer, too cold in winter.

The school merged with the neighbouring boys school as I started 6th form. We had a school assembly every morning with a hymn. The first mixed assembly everyone was too self-conscious to sing with the opposite sex, so the hymn was sung at a rousing mutter. This went on every morning for two years! I then left and, for all I know, it's still happening.
