Newly renovated, beautifully appointed. Food and Beverages, excellent (if sometimes unexpected service), delightful clientele, special accommodation for invalids, pedants, readers and normal people.

Gosh i must apologise for my reference to shoe size in my ditty, am really sorry.

I think, although I'm prepared to be corrected, that size 10 would be out of the ordinary for most women.

If I could make a suggestion though

and they said her her she she

in the second or third repetition? Either way, it's inspired.

@FuzzyPuffling I cannot get AI to give us both the correct number of shoes!

To be fair, neither of us look impressed at the available footwear choices. Twas ever thus!

Magpiecomplex · 27/01/2025 18:35

At a push, I might be prepared to wear the lace-ups, but the ballet flats are horrible! And the others are just plain unwearable.

Bannedontherun · 27/01/2025 19:05

I like doc martins always have!!!

Boiledbeetle · 27/01/2025 19:11

I think most of you know my shoe preference by now!!

And if anyone sees a gerbil I need the gravy bowser and removal of the peas!

Are those pineapple chunks on your plate, @Boiledbeetle? They can’t be chips because they are too cube-like, and you already have mashed potatoes and a tasty large green leaf.

I am very fond of sweet additions to a savoury meal.

I'm really hoping it's pineapple If it's swede/turnip the gerbils can take that away as well! I asked for pie, mash and gravy so I understand the peas, it probably thought I'd just missed them off. But the mystery food was all the AI's doing.

I'm just going to assume it it's pineapple.

<tentatively bites into a piece>

Nope not pineapple!

GERBIL! GERBIL! COME AND REMOVE THE TURNIP OFF MY PLATE!!!

AsWithGlad · 27/01/2025 20:07

Turnip left over from Burns Night on Saturday?
You deserve better than leftovers, and neeps do not improve as they mature.

But leftover turnips [that's Swede turnips to us in Ireland] tasted wonderful when my mam used to cut them into chip-sized shapes and fry them with rashers of bacon the next day..
off the menu when I became a vegetarian, but I'm still fond of turnips. Pass me over yours, Boily, but not if they are insipid white turnips😝

I will gladly give you my turnip, considering the gerbils seem to be hard of hearing this evening and have not come to remove it, it's quite orange coloured, also slightly cold now. Although I'd be happy to try them cooked in your mother's style with bacon. Everything tastes better with bacon added to, even sprouts and usually I really don't like them!

Weird shaped tomato, I reckon.

There was a Christmas TV ad on telly here in Ireland which had a little girl giving her complicated recipe for sprouts, with all sorts of additions. Her mother says 'But with all that you couldn't taste the sprouts' and the little girl replies 'EXACTLY!'😂
It reminded me of the Accrington Stanley ad for milk on UK TV yonks ago.

I thought of it on Saturday as I saw the results of a match between Accrington Stanley and Crewe Alexandra - they knew now to name a team back in them days, didn't they?😉

Found it!

DeanElderberry · 27/01/2025 21:08

btw, watching Murdoch Mysteries series 16 DVDs, and it's nice seeing a much-loved long term character happily married (at last) to a woman several inches taller than him.

wanna weird shaped tomato.

DeanElderberry · 27/01/2025 21:30

But imagine the horror if it turned out to be a hot chilli pretending to be a weird shaped tomato! Though maybe red chillis are less hot than green ones. I mistrust them all on principle.

Do the gerbils run a food testing service, and how do they signal the Scoville scale? And will they tell the truth? Not that I don't trust them but they can have a funny sense of humour.

AsWithGlad · 27/01/2025 21:34

Is it a large plum tomato? An untinned version of the sort I only ever see in tins.

I much prefer baby plum tomatoes to any other sort of not-astronomically-priced tomato.

Certainly peas, green leaf and 🍅 coming your way.

Now I'm back off to play with my Smurfs.

No. That isn't a euphemism, I'm actually currently playing with my Smurfs. I've decided to act my shoe size (7 sometimes 6 or 6.5 depending on the make)and not my actual age.

Ooh I do like a baby plum 🍅. Much tastier than their bigger siblings.

AsWithGlad · 27/01/2025 21:45

That’s a fine collection of Smurfs, Boily.

I don’t understand the crocs with arms and feet, though.

Britinme · 27/01/2025 21:55

I avoid chilis on principle. You can tell the gerbils never to serve them to me. I don't mind a small amount of chili heat, but every time I've tried to eat one it feels like Bikini Atoll in my mouth.
