I have to go out after lunch. And I will be sitting in a lecture. So I won't know how to live as a woman until much later. (I have short hair, don't wear make up and always wear trousers, jumpers and boots. So I was hoping to find out how to improve. I did give birth 3 times though. So there is that).

I'd put some lipstick on before leaving to cover yourself, or you might be inadvertently living as a man.

I have got some lipsyl. Does that count? (Hopeful).

GCITC · 27/11/2024 12:34

Judges tell Crawford she's wrong.

Crawford seems to accept this by saying 'well it doesn't matter my case doesn't rest on this'

What a car crash!

I think the giving birth only counts if you do it in a womanly way. As you weren't wearing make up and keeping it topped up throughout labour then I have a sneaking suspicion that you laboured as a man. I guess you weren't also making sure your hair looked pretty during contractions so lose woman points for that too

HarpQuartet · 27/11/2024 12:35

I'm glad they're making sure of exactly what points are being made, even if I've lost the thread

😬 Judges arguing

Oh dear, they're all getting hangry, time for lunch!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 27/11/2024 12:36

If it's tinted pink or red, yes. If not it's a bit too non binary.

HarpQuartet · 27/11/2024 12:36

I'm considering a fish finger sandwich.

Iamiams · 27/11/2024 12:36

Imagine if aliens are tuning in to this. They must be laughing their heads off and think we are easy pickings for invading or giving a wide berth!

CriticalCondition · 27/11/2024 12:37

Hmm, I thought she didn't like the term 'certificated sex'...

I did swear a bit. Which isn't ladylike. Looks like I will have to tell DH we have been living a lie...

Shortshriftandlethal · 27/11/2024 12:37

It hasn't been mentioned that one of the purposes of the GRA was to allow two same sex people to marry - pre gay marriage equality.

musicalfrog · 27/11/2024 12:37

Surely not good form to interrupt the judge while she's still formulating a question?

I think the judges weren't arguing between themselves, more trying to help each other understand (not sure how successfully tbh)

NoBinturongsHereMate · 27/11/2024 12:37

The judge on the right pointed out rather firmly that sex and gender reassignment are 2 separate provisions in the Act.

NonPlayerCharacter · 27/11/2024 12:38

Ereshkigalangcleg · 27/11/2024 12:34

The judges are really confused what she means!

They might be so disconnected from the issue that they're still at the "some part of it must make sense or it wouldn't have got this far" mindset. I've managed to disabuse a few people of this recently by really hammering home that they're NOT MISSING ANYTHING. You know how insane it looks? That is actually how insane it is!

I think one of the judges mentioned that when they were arguing? (The woman on the right)

Right hand judge did pick up that point.

Iamiams · 27/11/2024 12:39

What’s a Section 9 woman she speaks of?

fanOfBen · 27/11/2024 12:40

oo, attempting to address the "strangely constituted group" issue...without success as far as I can see, given that a woman with a mastectomy and a GRC is still a woman, really truly...

Ereshkigalangcleg · 27/11/2024 12:40

Yes, but what it won't have is any actual MEN.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/11/2024 12:41

I don't understand why she thinks that transmem shouldn't be counted as female for sex discrimination?

AgathaChristmas · 27/11/2024 12:41

Oh for goodness sake. All these people are actual women. So of course that is their sex. It isn't a 'strange group' at all!

CriticalCondition · 27/11/2024 12:41

Right hand judge with long dark hair is Lady Simler. Left hand judge with short white hair is Lady Rose.

Glamourreader · 27/11/2024 12:41

Hi, just reading along, I can't bear to watch 😬 which point did the judges say she was wrong about please?

NoBinturongsHereMate · 27/11/2024 12:42

She seems to be undermining her own case here. Does the Act intend to protect the coherent group or the nonsensical one? Hmm- tricky.
