Oh, well, if you're giving it a go...

I'm sure the Bluestocking has a sound proof snug somewhere. We could fix a date. And even a set list, so that those who want to come a-carolling but don't want to hear us fail to sing the descant can withdraw temporarily.

A sound proof snug? My dear, we have a recording studio!

We had a cat who hid in a cupboard. The door closed automatically behind him. I think he liked being on his own. It's similar to cats hiding in boxes. He also wouldn't use the litter tray if we were watching. He had a big need for privacy.

One of my cats would never let us see her washing. That was private, apparently.

That is brilliant!

As someone who has sung alto in many choirs over many years, I have the alto parts to every carol committed to memory, so count me in for the carolling.

I have written 82 Christmas cards - I still need to do the ones we will give out locally, but I've broken the back of the task.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/11/2024 12:42

Oh - and Fairytale of New York is one of my absolute favourites - I have just listened to it now - the original version, no bowdlerisation here, I promise.

MyrtleStrumpet · 28/11/2024 12:44

Cat refusing to wash unless it's private.

I have on one occasion sung the bass line to Silent Night, but can't remember it now, so I'll join you in the alto parts. No one needs to hear me attempting the descants!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/11/2024 12:47

What a very handsome cat!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/11/2024 12:48

In my heyday, I was a soprano - or a mezzo - and I could sing the descants, but old age and covid (and lack of use) has brought me back down to alto.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/11/2024 12:47

Indeed. It took four goes before I had one with all its legs. I had to specify a cupboard because they were all images of a cat in a sink.

Ooh, there's posh!

Does it have a bar? And tables for the drinks? And comfy chairs? I'm so over standing to sing. (Even the male voice choirs round here sit down for rehearsals, though that may have something to do with the demographic.)

AlisonDonut · 28/11/2024 12:57

You need me to step away for this gig to be honest. I once got asked at Donington Monsters of Rock to stop singing along with Guns and Roses.

I'm that bad.

I'll do the bar that night.

lcakethereforeIam · 28/11/2024 13:02

There may be an opening for someone to wrangle the triangle.

Can we do Ding Dong Merrily on High? I have a feeling it'll be hilarious.

That's impressive, I have to say.

We can merrily do Ding Dong, as far as I'm concerned. On the set list it goes.

Chersfrozenface · 28/11/2024 13:08

For the dinging and the donging, as well as my sleigh bells (below) how do we feel about a small set of handbells?

I'll be needing one of those myself.

MyrtleStrumpet · 28/11/2024 13:18

Sadly my singing voice has become a croak. They say it's because I have silent reflux but after three years on omeprazole it's no better. 😪

Lovely.

Only, where's me drink?

WallowingInCandlelight · 28/11/2024 13:19

In my dreams, I'm tucked away in the inglenook beside the fire with a mug of vegan hot chocolate and a notebook and I'm planning a knitting pattern collection containing lots of quick knits designed to combat the 'chilling effect'. I'd really like to produce a commemorative Fair Isle or intarsia chart of repeated raised-eyebrow designs. Fair Isle would be best because of the Scottish connection.

PS. I could add a jingle bell instead of a pompom on a hat maybe?

In reality, I absolutely have to sort through lots of life admin, including phoning British Gas (again). Oh well.
