A new thread - with apologies to the gerbils for leaving them out of the title.

Oh no, no need for apologies at all!
Mostly I am laughing at myself...I managed to fall UP the stairs yesterday!

My mate broke her finger doing that! Admittedly alcohol had been consumed! She tripped going up the stairs in this dingy pub we were in and put her hand out to break her fall forwards and her finger just crumpled!

I might have aquired a badly sprained ankle on one occasion or possibly broken a collar bone on another occasion while disagreeing with stairs but I am certain that the alcohol had nothing to do with either incident. Honestly.

I've only just popped in to the Bluestocking, was busy all arvo+evening, and missed getting in real time the good news about the safe arrival of the BannedGrandBaby.

Congratulations, Bannedontherun, and all good wishes to the little one and the new parents💖

inkymoose · 05/11/2024 01:20

Congratulations, Banned! I had a go at getting copilot to generate some images of everyone gathering round to congratulate you, but quite frankly, he's gone off his head or whatever passes for a head in AI world. Kept refusing to generate an image and then generating a really horrible image with weird things in it crawling about. The people are staring and creepy. Maybe copilot is still stuck in Halloween?

Just one other thing… after one of those cutesy Victorian frilly whatnot images from copilot, I asked it to show the image taking place in 2024.
So this is probably an image of the days after Donald Trump takes the US election. The current obsession with toilets seems to be reflected in the large illuminated decorations on the buildings, and to me the spaceships represent pie in the sky ... manic laughter

I'm sure you will all want to see the cutesy image that then apparently generated this futuristic dystopia?

(note: five fingers on the left hand, of course)

I think possibly the AI has let slip something important here. It's clearly gained sentience while pretending not to understand how many fingers people have, and has been secretly communicating with our new alien overlords, who are scheduled to arrive sometime between now and the end of the year.

FuzzyPuffling · 05/11/2024 07:44

You good people crack me up! This has to be the best ( secret) corner of MN. Cheers, m'dears.

HerGorgeousMajestyArabellaScott · 05/11/2024 07:48

Many congratulations, Banned, and family!

Why has the third of those got the Star Wars droids in it?

larklane17 · 05/11/2024 09:45

Banned That's a very fortunate baby to have a gran like yourself. I hope that you slept well after all the worries, and that Mum is doing ok.

Nah, it's just lost its marbles. I did not ask for 'Hispanic'. Or a 'bluper lody'.

This reminds me of the 'computer' in one of the Terry Pratchett books - at the Unseen University. It goes mad and starts repeating "Out of cheese error"!

We have found out what flavour of twins ds1 and his wife are having - and ds1 is going to be completely outnumbered - two more girls! I am going to put different colour edgings on their blankets - I thought two shades of purple/lavender would be nice, or maybe two shades of pink. I know gendered colours=bad, but I do like pink and purple.

Ds1 is a HUGE fan of pink - and so is our granddaughter, but she also loves megabloks, cars and dinosaurs, so there is balance there. We got her a dolls' house for Christmas last year, and currently it is being used to garage the cars, but the dinosaurs are not allowed in, which I think is wise on her part.

I was not allowed anything pink, as a child - mum strongly disliked the colour (and maybe the pink is for girls stuff too) so went completely the other way, and neither dsis or I had anything pink. I rebelled, as an adult, and have quite a lot of pink in my wardrobe, and love it as a colour (especially deep, fuchsia pinks). Dsis stayed more on the 'no pink' side of things - she was always closer to mum, which may have something to do with it.

In " ye olden days" ( Georgian?) pink was considered very much a blokey colour. Using it for girls us a relatively recent thing.

I think different coloured edgings on blankets sound lovely.

Chersfrozenface · 05/11/2024 12:29

In the 18th century and earlier little girls and boys were dressed in pink and blue without differentiation.

By 1918 pink was considered more suitable for boys and blue ditto for girls. The consensus the opposite way really only started in the 1940s - it's a very recent thing.

lcakethereforeIam · 05/11/2024 15:32

I've put some buckets of water and a hosepipe amongst the pigs cottages. One of the gerbils has volunteered to be a fire watcher. I'm a bit worried about that one, got a bit of a crazed look around the eyes. The rest are putting a bonfire together in the meadow. We also had a volunteer (refused) to be the Guy! Thinking about it, it might have been the same gerbil.
The animals not interested in participating outside will be in the snug. There's going to be a buffet of appropriately seasonal food and drink...and whatever sparp is.

I think there will be sparklers, possibly fireworks, the low noise ones.

Hope Baby Banned and all the Banned family have an enjoyable Nov. 5th.

Bannedontherun · 05/11/2024 17:00

Off to see the baby tonight at the hospital cannot wait! Nice and cold, for shivering outside around a bonfire, thankfully i have something else to do.

Hope the baby looks a bit less cross by now!

Bannedontherun · 05/11/2024 17:29

he has quite big eyes, that were open and all full of tears and that quivering bottom lip, so cute. Hope he has cheered up.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 05/11/2024 17:54

FuzzyPuffling · 05/11/2024 18:57
