.

Mmmmm! May I order another one please, the first was eaten a little too quick!

ErrolTheDragon · 03/11/2024 19:43

Bloody hell Beetle, that second one it's mashed up the dragons and beetles. Sort of like The Fly but with dragons and beetles instead of a fly and Jeff Goldblum.

FuzzyPuffling · 03/11/2024 19:44

Ah beautiful flowers, thank you.

I love Paul Whitehouse, especially in that fishing programme with Bob Mortimer. I'm not a fan of fishing, but the relationship between those two is a delight.

<picks a bigger bunch of flowers for fuzzy>

Oh god! Another to add to my list of men i just can't watch!

If there is a hell my version of it would involve watching that pair, and Harry Enfield, and every episode of the Office, Gavin and Stacey and Father Ted whilst only being allowed to eat macaroni cheese and lemon drizzle cake!

I'm still behind the sofa! It's terrifying!

On the subject of Joni M, here's one for Pedantry Corner: did she write the longest sentence in popular music?

The last time I saw Richard was Detroit in '68
and he told me, "All romantics meet the same fate someday
cynical and drunk and boring someone in some dark café."

The only competition I can think of is the Doobie Brothers:

What a fool believes he sees
no wise man has the power to reason away.

I love River too, lcakethereforeIam. Also on Blue - every track is wonderful.

But it's hard to beat the lyrics of Chelsea Morning, which is on Clouds from 1969 (she's been so creative for so long!) - they make me smile every time, such brightness and joy and uncomplicated happiness:

Woke up, it was a Chelsea morning
And the first thing that I knew
There was milk and toast and honey
And a bowl of oranges, too
And the sun poured in like butterscotch
And stuck to all my senses
Oh, won't you stay? We'll put on the day
And we'll talk in present tenses

FuzzyPuffling · 03/11/2024 20:05

I love lemon drizzle cake. Could you pass yours over here please Boily?

( And I like Gavin and Stacey too, but I hate Friends.)

DeanElderberry · 03/11/2024 20:05

An antidote to Sunday mornin' comin' down, from the same year - which came first? antidote mood-wise, S m c d is another fantastic song by one of the greats. Another great who survived.

Well, I woke up Sunday morning
With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad
So I had one more for dessert
Then I fumbled through my closet for my clothes
And found my cleanest dirty shirt
And I shaved my face and combed my hair
And stumbled down the stairs to meet the day

FuzzyPuffling · 03/11/2024 20:06

Songs that make me sad..
"Diamonds and Rust", by Joan Baez. About Bob Dylan.

Have as many as you like - this is the Bluestocking. They're not even fattening & they're suitable for diabetics.

Let's all play 'Spot the Deliberate Mistake', shall we? (We might be here all night.)

I just don't get it. Someone opens a door- laughter. WHY?

( "But Jerry, why is it funny?" )

Have you seen 'Help'? I found it again on YouTube & it's glorious. PW plays lots of different people.

Rather stylish, I thought. The AI must've remembered you've lost your underused car.😥

FuzzyPuffling · 03/11/2024 20:16

My car is so unused as I can't drive atm, I have lent it to DD1 for the foreseeable.
Testing carlessness.

I got visitation last weekend, and had to drive it one last time so we could take sisters old car to be scrapped! She'd already added 100s of miles onto the clock!! Poor car must have been in shock!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 03/11/2024 20:18

Can I have the world's biggest glass of Baileys, please? The builders are arriving at the crack of dawn tomorrow & I haven't recovered from last week yet.

Certainly (you can tell which companies have come to an agreement with the AI company can't you!!)

If you're a mouse then that glass is huuuuuuge!

But as it's the Bluestocking it self refills anyway!

I'll have your macaroni cheese, Boily. I shall selflessly devote myself to the task of saving you from ever even seeing said foodstuff. Heroically. Or should that be heroinically? 🤔

Magpiecomplex · 03/11/2024 20:52

Also I'll take Bob Mortimer too. Once had a humongous crush on a man who looks very similar...

Fair enough.

Personal hells: having avoided 'Last of the Summer Wine' for years, in the middle of the Christmas Holiday From Hell I was forced to sit & watch, not just an episode but a Christmas Special of the bloody thing, unrelieved by food treats or alcohol. It felt like it went on for hours, without a laugh or anything of interest happening.

And I once picked up & read a menu for a special evening do at a place I usually like, but every course was turning out be something I loathed. There was only the dessert left, & before I read on I tried to imagine what the worst possible thing could be for me. I hit on something, glanced down at the menu & there it was: marmalade pudding. I thought I'd invented it in my fevered imagination.😂
