Is it porage or porridge?
We only eat Scotts Old fashioned here.
It's the rules.

I will admit to being rather partial to Ready brek, which is an abomination on the porridge front, but if you get the milk to Ready brek ratios just right and add in way way to much sugar, then sprinkle more sugar to form a layer over the entire bowl it could be up there as one of my final meal contenders!

lcakethereforeIam · 30/10/2024 21:46

I've not done it for years, but crumbled up weetabix stirred into hot milk then lavishly sprinkled with sugar which forms a crust. The scrapings set like cement though, have to soak the bowl for hours.

Oh, cripes. I'll get my coat, then. Sorry, everyone.

<runs round to the front of the pub>
Oh no you don't! Get back in there!

The gerbils have just brought your food order out.

It was you that ordered the knickerbockerglory wasn't it!

I used to make the DC Ready Brek in the winter. It was a long walk to school, and there was a very exposed stretch between fields.

Porridge requires a bloody great dollop of golden syrup in it.

I'll be honest I prefer my weetabix with butter and marmite

lcakethereforeIam · 30/10/2024 21:52

I remember someone having weetabix with butter. I thought I'd imagined it!

Just finished watching yesterday's GBBO. Now I want to make some parkin.

larklane17 · 30/10/2024 21:55

A parkin thread?
We need a diagram.
I love parkin as much as I love Christmas cake😍

😁

I don't think I've ever eaten parkin, which having just looked at the ingredient really surprised me as I'd really like it!

larklane17 · 30/10/2024 22:03

Parkin, Toffee Apples, Treacle Toffee.
Heaven.

lcakethereforeIam · 30/10/2024 22:49

I'll do my grocery shopping at the weekend. If I get the ingredients, I'll try to bake some parkin. If successful I'll post a picture, possibly with a diagram 😁

Wow, just dropped by and things aren't what they were in the good ol' days of thread-page-7 or so - fluffy animal pics transmogrified into Dead Animal World, and Tunnocks replaced by Weetabix, Marmite and porridge with SALT?

Parkins and toffee apples are an improvement, that's good at least...

Edited after noticing the toffee apples, with great relief...

Don't go! I hope the Bluey has its own Flouncers Corner & you're there, tucking into some white pudding 😬while watching questonable animal videos.

Dint know which corner Arabella is in but i'm currently in the Crocs corner eating marmite on weetabix watching questionable animal videos. Can't think why I'm here on my own!

Catiette · 30/10/2024 23:21

Ugh, crocs! Also a troubling mystery to me...

larklane17 · 30/10/2024 23:30

Bartender! A pint of shandy and a crocodile sandwich and make it snappy!

At least no one is eating WBH, though it's always on the menu in memory of LangCleg, late of this parish (though I'm sure alive and kicking elsewhere)Wine

Boiledbeetle · 31/10/2024 00:05

WBH?

Catiette · 31/10/2024 00:14

Also wondering. Google results are wide-ranging & highly entertaining (up to & including the name of a Polish rock band who don’t believe in vowels) - but not yet edible…?

MarieDeGournay · 31/10/2024 00:16

This looks like someone asked AI for a cross between a FuzzyPuffling and a Magpiecomplex. Broadly correct, but with one huge error - that's about par for the course for AI, isn't it?Smile

They don’t look THAT tasty, either…
