NHS Fife tries to silence nurse

1000 replies

Hoardasurass · 13/10/2024 09:36

So as has been mentioned on threads about the Darlington nurses a nurse is sueing NHS Fife over its trans staff policy.
The poor nurse was forced to get changed infront of a man in the female changing facilities, when she complained about it she was 1st told to change in a cupboard if she didn't like it, then they tried to bully her into swapping shifts so she didn't work with the man in question (she wouldn't), then they wanted her to move hospital (again she refused) so then they suspended her without pay for months until her solicitor got involved and now they are trying to gag her by insisting that the court case (starts in February) must be held in secret (I wonder why) and will be in crt next month asking to restrict reporting on the case.

This case is really important in Scotland because the trans staff policy that's going on trial in this case is the Scottish government's own policy used in all public sector organisations in Scotland and works on self id. So when this case is won it will finally kill the Scottish government's self id policy in all public bodies

Watch your language, O Nest of Vipers Women.

It's not only Sandie Peggie who is being told to watch her words.

In the preliminary hearings, the counsel for NHS Fife/Dr Upton argued that Tribunal Tweets coverage was picked up by other social media sites such as Mumsnet, where it is repeated and much objectionable and offensive commentary has been added.

Objectionable comments like women should have equal human rights? And not be forced by organisations like the NHS to undress in front of men without consent or prior knowledge? That sort of objectionable comment?

Yes. And almost certainly also saying that men cannot become women simply by saying they are women. Completely offensive and objectionable.

BonfireLady · 02/02/2025 19:45

Maybe if the word "man" gets written too many times on a MN thread, an alarm will go off in the courtroom?

Mmmnotsure · 02/02/2025 20:02

Wonder how many times Sandie Peggie will be allowed to say 'man' or 'he' before an alarm goes off in the courtroom.

Cailleach1 · 02/02/2025 20:58

What could you say though? Imaginary situation, not presuming this happened.

You could say ’this person’, or ‘the respondent’. The respondent and I were the only people in the room, and the door was shut. I was the only biological female in the room and felt very uncomfortable and vulnerable having been forced to change in those circumstances.

It does sound very uncomfortable. If you were in a place where you could nip home, that is the option I would choose. Rather than be alone with a biological male (i.e man) undressing himself in an enclosed space meant for women. Outside of any potential exposure and/or voyeurism. My spider senses would be pricked. I would be thinking of that word as a noun applied to any biological male (i.e. man) who would deliberately make women feel uncomfortable like that.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 02/02/2025 21:01

Well NHS Fife need to stop abusing nurses. This is institutional abuse.

Apollo441 · 02/02/2025 21:05

Stonewall say it is no longer transphobic to say transwomen are men. Game over?

Yes. The NHS Fife do need to stop putting their female staff in abusive situations by design. I also think they are not just being abusive to women by creating the space in such a way that it makes women so uncomfortable and vulnerable. To my mind, they are also an accessory to any sexual harassment, exposure, and voyeurism that would occur therein. It is by their design that women’s comfort (or lack thereof) and safety is entirely at the whim of any biological males who get to use it with their full permission and indeed support.

I hope this organisation doesn’t dare to spout about comfort or safe spaces for others when they are abusing women in this way.

WearyAuldWumman · 02/02/2025 21:33

As someone who has had many family members who - unfortunately - have required treatment at the Vic, I'd be very concerned if part of their treatment team included a man masquerading as a woman.

Not yet, but the battle beginning to go the other way, or the tide beginning to turn. I hope that we will look back and compare the mantra of TW are W as being like the witchcraft trials of the middle ages.

Skyellaskerry · 03/02/2025 08:34

Does anyone know if it’s too late to request online viewing please?

PoshCoffee · 03/02/2025 08:59

Morning all. What time does the tribunal kick off this morning please?

We hope to report today on the employment tribunal of Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife and Dr. B Upton. Conflicting information on the start time; either 10 or 11 am. We have been given permission to live tweet with some cautions for witnesses from Employment Judge Sandy.

GCITC · 03/02/2025 09:05

10am start I believe.

You should still be able to request to view remotely. Add 'URGENT' to your email header. You might miss today's submissions but it's scheduled to last 2 weeks.

HarpQuartet · 03/02/2025 09:05

@Skyellaskerry I wouldn't have thought it's too late. Why don't you email anyway and see what happens.

I asked whether my link and PIN (that I received on Friday) will still work even though the hearing has been moved and the reply was that it will still work.

Skyellaskerry · 03/02/2025 09:07

Thanks all ☺️

howonearthdidwegethere · 02/02/2025 11:13

Oops. Thought I had added an image there. Trying again...

It states 11 on this. I don’t know if you should log in before hand to be ready to go at the stated time.

Cailleach1 · 03/02/2025 09:23

Sorry, image didn’t load. You could just go to the post at 11:13 to see the linked image stating the time.

Skyellaskerry · 03/02/2025 09:24

Thanks @Cailleach1

GCITC · 03/02/2025 09:26

Trib tweets are saying either 10 or 11. No one seems to have a definite answer.

We're already off to a great start.

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 03/02/2025 10:00

The usual shambles, @GCITC !

LipbalmOrKnickers · 03/02/2025 10:01

Agree. Had access from Edinburgh but have emailed Dundee this morning in case change of venue means change of access required, although I see @HarpQuartet has already had confirmation back, so fingers crossed.

I'm concerned about the possibility of planned disruption online - feels like we're precariously balanced already and any excuse will be used to shut observers out. Hope SP knows how many of us are cheering her on from afar! 💚

HarpQuartet · 03/02/2025 10:04

I'm waiting for the conference host to join, although I note I might be waiting until 11!

Did you get anywhere, @Skyellaskerry ?

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 03/02/2025 10:07

Same, Harp.

LipbalmOrKnickers · 03/02/2025 10:07

WFTCHTJ here too, will log out and back in at half-past if we're not in by then.
