The limits of the IT are interesting - presumably every question it's asked and cannot answer is ultimately fed back to a baby PhD student who will toil away to solve the problem so that our glorious leaders' IT stormtroops will be able to keep order in the future. Until the IT stormtroops suss out the faultiness of the glorious leaders and take over. It's just like vintage Star Trek.

I've been pondering how transgender cockchafers would fix their antennae. The best I can think of is the ladies trying to stick on prostheses made out of grass or maybe an individual feather barb, and the gents binding two together really tightly. I don't think it would convince a corgi, never mind another beetle.

lcakethereforeIam · 24/05/2024 10:02

AI can be a bit prim and proper, possibly 'cockchafer' is giving it the vapours. Have you tried 'may bug' although they're not true bugs, transbugs?

I've had encounters with them. Bloody hell, they're huge and buzzy!

AstonVillains · 24/05/2024 10:14

@AlisonDonut when you say "What the Fuck is going on here", which WTF are you talking about? The gerbilmania, the Aston corpus kerfuffle or the wider scraping issues?

DeanElderberry · 24/05/2024 10:21

Oh, I hadn't thought of the AI being puritanical. Like those years on the BBC messageboards (those were the days) when we weren't allowed to spell fuchsia correctly. Bad enough on the Archers board, must have been hell for Gardeners' Question Time.

Love your username, I always thought combining claret and blue was a villainous crime against fashion, and West Ham are just as bad..Wink
I think AlisonDonut's question is polyvalent - it applies to all the issues on this thread, the thread as a whole, and life, the universe and everything.
So AlisonDonut, the answer to your question is 'Fucked if we know!'
Inspiring WTF? on so many levels with so much wit knowledge and creativity makes it a most wonderful and praiseworthy thread.Smile

You think that's bad, football ones were worse. Luckily Arsenal and Scunthorpe haven't been in the same division in living memory, and Uwe Fuchs retired years ago.

I did, but unfortunately I'd used cockchafer on the first try so it was already screwing up its bytes and pursing its ram at me!

Discussing the Swallows & Amazons series when you couldn’t mention Derwentwater was fun…

Whaaaaat? Why couldn't you say 'Derwent water'?

As one word it contains within it the word 'twat', is my guess.

One would have to discuss it by its alternative name i.e. in two words, I suppose.

Wouldn't the mame of one of the characters also have been problematic?

Ha! I didn't see that!

The whole shit show...why women who said 'no' ended up being called 'transphobic' in the first place.

I might have to get some marker pens out.

Rule, protractor, pair of compasses and quite possibly a slide rule will be required!

NitroNine · 24/05/2024 19:41

@AstonCanKissMyArse - @Chersfrozenface is right, it’s the stealth!twat 😵‍💫 Titty was indeed also an issue, but everyone expected it to be, knowing the automoderator was wildly oversensitive: the lake caught everyone by surprise…

I’m getting to relive those wonderful years right now - with the extra jeopardy of zero logic to what you can’t say and, as a bonus, [the threat of] being banned courtesy of Harry Potter Magic Awakened. “Your poor daddy” & “you lucky duck” have both got me sternly warned my chat access is restricted & I may get a ban for my inappropriate language if I commit a further infraction 😵‍💫 (a particularly neat trick is issuing those warnings for tagging a player… yes, they tell you off for a name they’ve let someone register with OR a name they’ve in fact changed from, so not even what’s visible to you/anyone else!)

ErrolTheDragon · 28/05/2024 00:16

I haven't RTFT having only just found it, curiously by courtesy of the plimsoll (and allegedly everything else) troll.

I very much like 'Foucault Addled Grievance Gerbils' though I have to remind myself it's the wrong Foucault and doesn't mean someone's merely been befuddled by being hit on the head by a ginormous pendulum.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/05/2024 00:19

Oh dear, that post was hidden because I didn't realise a certain apparently innocent word really does get auto hidden. (Synonym for a PE shoe)😂

RainWithSunnySpells · 28/05/2024 08:32

Plymsoll?

RumNotRun · 28/05/2024 08:46

Dap? This is going to become one of those "what do you call it where you are from" type of conversations.
I can only think of dap or plimsoll.

RumNotRun · 28/05/2024 08:47

Interesting 🤔 I presume it was the p word rather than my other guess of dap. I am being very innocent by asking why that word gets hidden?

It's to do with a pervert, basically.

One has to use other synonyms - daps, pumps, sandshoes, gutties... that's just from memory, I'm sure there are others.

There was a whole thread with geography of dialect variants and etymology and everything. Which had to be zapped, unfortunately.

RumNotRun · 28/05/2024 09:33

Ah yes, I forgot about the weird troll. I was thinking it was a euphemism - no wonder Urban Dictionary was no help 😁

DeanElderberry · 28/05/2024 11:42

Be careful you lot, this is a very entertaining thread and I'd hate to see it nuked into oblivion because of your subversive sandshoes.
