JKR has called the SNP's bluff. If they don't go after her then the act will be meaningless. They won't be able to target other women without causing massive drama. With all the other people defying the law it looks like it will be the most defied piece of legislation since the poll tax in Scotland. Meanwhile Sunak is attacking an open goal by backing JKR.

JK Rowling's 'come and get me' retort to Hate Crime Act is direct challenge to Yousaf (archive.is)

Rishi Sunak backs JK Rowling in trans arrest row with Scottish police (archive.is)

Someone should put Starmer and other political leaders on the spot and ask them what they think.

Really got a live one here! 😃

VG from JD.

Gay man lives through eighties. Marginalised, treated like a leper through s. 28 and Aids crisis etc.
Hopes one day not to be labelled. To just be James.
Lands in 2024 which is full of labels and people asking does he not remember the eighties.

Erm yes mate, but he posts on the " gender critical" side of this topic.
What leads you to believe he's posting it in humour when that's his usual stance?

He's taking the piss. If you can't see that, I can't explain it to you.

You either read it and get it or you read it and don't.

GoodAfternoonGoodEveningAndGoodnight · 02/04/2024 00:31

ILikeDungs · 02/04/2024 00:24

Exactly. Since when the hell would there have been a "Gay Day of Visibility".

Way to completely not get it.

Your 'not getting it' is so very very illustrative, though.

Ok, so what's the problem with there being whole Pride months for people who are gay/lesbian now or trans visibility days nowadays?
If it is indeed just a piss take then there's no problem then.

Over It Ugh GIF

.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 02/04/2024 00:38

Is he conveniently forgetting Section 28 or what?;

Why would a gay man "conveniently" forget section 28?

Mmmnotsure · 02/04/2024 00:44

Just wondering how good AI is with humour or irony?

Exactly 😁
Edited for a smily to convey tone lol

So, given this law only applies to those in Scotland it appears Scottish women are in a similar position to women in Afghanistan.

Women outside Scotland / Afghanistan can talk about how women have lost or are losing human rights in Scotland / Afghanistan but within those countries, women are prevented from speaking up about women's rights.

Yes, one is far worse but the direction of travel is the same.

Datun · 02/04/2024 00:51

What is the point of Sunak 'backing' her? What does it even mean? Is it the same as a 'like'.

Does he have absolutely zero power over this??

Oh FFS no, you are not comparing the UK to Afghanistan, just what the hell

Oh no! You aren’t conflating all 4 nations of the UK as if they are the same?

What the hell?

Where did I do that?
Last time I looked Scotland was still part of the UK.

He re-tweets IW. A lot. He also claims that he was asked to go on GB News but he declined.

Edited

He's been weirdly all over IW's tweets for several weeks now. Giving unsolicited (and wrong) advice. Very odd.

RapidOnsetGenderCritic · 02/04/2024 01:21

SidewaysOtter · 01/04/2024 23:26

I think he’s just the archetypal random man who felt he had sufficient expertise and wisdom to tell a woman (one could afford a far better lawyer than him) what to do, despite such “advice” being entirely unsolicited, and then got snippy when she dared ignore his “expertise”.

We all know the type.

And the saying. “God grant me the confidence of a mediocre man…”

I don’t think you want my confidence 😏

Maybe they're dating

I see that Willoughby’s made it into the top
article of the Mail Online.

Probably not quite the glorious puff piece that Willoughby would have had in mind though.

A fine example of the TWHT there.

NitroNine · 02/04/2024 08:02

JKR has been on superb form; & the TRA frothtacular has been truly staggering.

As a result of JKR’s absolute [non-]crime spree, your man who makes “The Quibbler” look like solid, reliable, & rigorous journalism & Rita Skeeter a dedicated & fiercely ethical investigative journo is back on one TwiX. Having clearly learned the cubed root of feck all from endangering some poor random woman (& her dotey wee baby girl!!!) because she’d the same name as JKR’s eldest daughter. So like any normal person the great buckeejit decided to just spin a whole spiteful tale & then howled about it not being their fault they’d repeatedly insisted their wild fabrication was absolutely true.

So looking forward to them bringing further measured & rational takes to the discussion 🙄

He's too dim to realize that she did this bc she can be reported and it arguably breaks the law. She's daring the cops and politicians to arrest her or else admit the law does not apply to statements like hers.

He doesn't seem to realize that (1) every time someone in Scotland reads a tweet, it's a new publication (and, if illegal, a new breach of the law) and (2) she's returning to Scotland so that when someone in Scotland later reads her tweets, the law applies and she can be arrested. He's loudly missing the whole point. Leaving Scotland would only help if she never returned
