I'm not Mishy WTF 😁

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/04/2024 17:46

I don't think you are Mishy, @GoodAfternoonGoodEveningAndGoodnight but not sure why you would find it so weird that someone would?

WallaceinAnderland · 01/04/2024 17:46

You know, we don't have to explain ourselves to any creepy men in female only spaces or, in fact, in any discussion about it.

We don't have to justify why we get a creepy vibe from them. Maybe if they were women they'd understand.

Either way they don't care and are just attention farming imo.

Yep, 100%. And that's not directed at anyone in particular. It's a general observation about women, boundaries, and women's spaces.

LarkLane · 01/04/2024 17:49

Attention farming is a great phrase Wallace.

Yes, everyone knows that. They also know about the likes of rose west and myra hindley. That proves what, exactly? a very small proportion of women are wrong un's. The overwhelming majority of sex offenders (to the tune of 98 %) remain men-thats why they need keeping out of women only spaces. But you know this anyway, so what are you playing at?

There are so few female sex offenders, that we know almost all of their names and the details their horrible crimes.

There are so many male sex offenders that they could list them like one of the big, old-fashioned yellow telephone directories, and their crimes are so many and varied that only the most appalling ones hit the headlines. All the rest are just same-old-same-old - except for the victims.

I don't think anyone actually cares whether spaces are "women only" or not. Do I care if there's a convicted rapist in my space, yes - it's irrelevant what their sex or gender is, it's the fact they're a convicted rapist. Stopping trans people from using the same public sink space as me doesn't help me if there's a lesbian sex offender in there.

It's just something else for people to rage about so they can feel sanctimonious and be distracted from their own shitshow lives.

Hands up everyone who's ever been or felt threatened by a lesbian sex offender...

I didn't think I could love JKR any more than I already did but now I do. Thank goodness she is standing up to this bullshit.

This. The publicity around the world on the stupidity of this law will be huge.

WallaceinAnderland · 01/04/2024 17:51

I believe the phrase is actually engagement farming @LarkLane but I prefer my version of it as there often really isn't much engagement going on.

What some people do not seem to understand is that single sex spaces are a preventative measure.

Once a woman has been sexually assaulted there is no going back to before it happened.

It is literally life changing. One can “recover” can move forward, “survive” but life is never the same again.

Not distinguishing Biological facts up the risks all over the place, and those who come here with made up experiences about what women who have been raped, think, boils my blood.

Totally agree. I hugely admire her. In fact she is the only ‘celebrity’ I do really admire.

Helleofabore · 01/04/2024 17:56

Flowers for all those victims of violence and sexual violence on this thread.

LarkLane · 01/04/2024 17:57

I'm old. Lots of unpleasant situations with men. Including assault as an eight year old by a group of young men.
Had a man in a frock threaten to thump me in Liverpool at LWS. There's video footage of him roaming around making threats. There's a link on FWR somewhere.

Never ever been threatened sexually or physically by a lesbian.

Tropics4 · 01/04/2024 17:58

Emotionalsupportviper · 01/04/2024 17:32

What if you describe yourself a a woman identifying as a man who identifies as a woman?

Would that work? 🤔

Might do, kind of illustrates the problem perfectly. Great idea!

ChristinaXYZ · 01/04/2024 17:58

ResisterRex · 01/04/2024 17:31

And those who say they don't care, don't get to override our consent.

This. The rights belong to all women. Individual women saying, "Well I'm not bothered", so what!

Karensalright · 01/04/2024 17:58

Never been threatened by a lesbian, not that one can just tell anyway.

BonnyBo · 01/04/2024 17:59

Funny how women-only spaces are only an issue when people object to transwomen in them, but outside of that, no one seems to have a problem.

Where is the campaigning to get rid of all single sex spaces if it is so irrelevant, old-fashioned and bigoted to sometimes separate men and women?

LarkLane · 01/04/2024 18:01

WallaceinAnderland · 01/04/2024 17:51

You are so right. Engagement is an honest dialogue between people who might disagree.
Your phrase is more accurate on this board.

Nothing useful to add, except that I admire JKR so much.

lifeturnsonadime · 01/04/2024 18:07

The only threatening 'lesbians' i've seen are the self identified heterosexual male ones, they like to threaten to choke women with their lady dicks. There are a fair few of those hanging out on twitter abusing women.

Same old male violence.

Ah was that the event when the infamous band 'Frog Dylan' had to delete all their social media because of their actions?
See how it all went quiet for them yet women speak up and they get cancelled and pilloried foreeeevvvvvveeeerrr?
