nauticant · 22/01/2024 14:57

Roz Adams was employed by Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre (ERCC) as a counsellor. She is claiming constructive dismissal for Gener Critical (GC) beliefs. The CEO of ERCC is a well known transwoman known for, among other things, controversial "reframe your trauma" remarks.

There's live tweeting from https://twitter.com/tribunaltweets or if Twitter doesn't show the tweets, look at https://nitter.net/tribunaltweets. There's an informative substack here: https://tribunaltweets.substack.com/p/adams-vs-edinburgh-rape-crisis-centre

This post explains how to get access to watch the hearing: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4988632-another-gc-employment-tribunal-roz-adams-vs-edinburgh-rape-crisis-centre-2?page=24&reply=132419912

I don't think they are being very nice about Roz is the gist I'm getting

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 12:35

Lots of page turning in the b**dle

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 12:35

I have no idea what the hell is going on at this point!

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 12:36

And neither does the witness!
Don't blame her!

OvaHere · 23/01/2024 12:36

DadJoke · 23/01/2024 12:14

I think this means that if a client asked for an AFAB person, they would be assigned one, without outing other staff members. Is that right? I find it tricky to parse.

NC - at the new initial meeting, what would you do if SU asked for a biologically female SW

KM - we would tell them we couldn't give them information about bio sex but would honour their request

This is where the devil is in the detail because many of these employees seem to believe someone such as MW is biologically female.

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 12:38

On about a meeting that the witness didn't attend

nauticant · 23/01/2024 12:38

NC: ... in the absence of Mridul or Nico ...

I love it every time she does this.

My phone has overheated! Will have to find a nother way to listen...

catscatscurrantscurrants · 23/01/2024 12:39

RedToothbrush, reading yesterday's tribunal notes, all I kept hearing in my head was 'Are you or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party?' McCarthyism in action right under our noses.

Mmmnotsure · 23/01/2024 12:39

NC email explaining c meeting we'd asked for minutes of. Told no notes taken, the team were thinking c implications of AB and name change. There's nothing here c RA

KM I wasn't at mtg

NC in absence of MW and Nico, do you agree clear implication is there is going to be a mtg c what nearly made KimT's 'head nearly shoot off my shoulders'

KM don't know

NC and none of people giving evidence was at mtg

KM no

NoBinturongsHereMate · 23/01/2024 12:40

NC is doing a brilliant job of bringing in wider aspects of the debate - asymmetry, the piss protests, raising the question of NWORIADS ...

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 12:40

Onto the outcomes of the grievance procedure

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 12:41

I love her long questions!

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 12:41

NC asking witness to read part of the outcomes i think

Long wait again

Mmmnotsure · 23/01/2024 12:42

NC Elaine's email summarising things ercc to do, includes apologise to RA c unwarranted and unhelpful lang used within the docs

NC What lang was that

KM don't know.

RedToothBrush · 23/01/2024 12:43

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 12:28

NC is asking of its found that claimant discriminated against by a colleague that that person will be disciplined!

Witness if there was a finding then that would have tho be acted on

WOW thats a set up...

The answer given is that 'they don't think thats whats happened' NOT 'if thats what found then of course an investigation into discrimination should be conducted'.

That speaks volumes of the culture for me tbh.

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 12:43

My attention is going, something about the claim that the claimant was transphobic.

Witness. Not a discussion about the claimant being transphobic within the process so that word shouldn't be used

???

HarpQuartet · 23/01/2024 12:45

Hello and apologies if this has been discussed: I have a busy few days at work and am a few pages behind.

Do we know if the tribunal will continue tomorrow? I'm wondering about freeing up some time to observe.

Many thanks in advance.

Mmmnotsure · 23/01/2024 12:45

NC can you agree that ElaineC is suggesting ercc apologise for claim RA = transphobic

KM [long pause] just reading it. There's no discussion c RA being transphobic in the processes so word shouldn't have been used within the grievance letter

NC but doc says that word transphobic shouldn't have been used, and no evidence transphobia occurred. Clear that ercc should apologise for use of word transphobic. You agree?

KM yes [for once]

Chrysanthemum5 · 23/01/2024 12:46

They are hoping to get through all the witnesses by the end of tomorrow so it will probably be a full day again. There is at least one more witness to go

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2024 12:46

so they didn't apologise?

GCITC · 23/01/2024 12:46

Last day tomorrow. Still two more witnesses to get through.

Chrysanthemum5 · 23/01/2024 12:46

Oh so they did attempt to settle before going to the hearing, interesting

Appalonia · 23/01/2024 12:46

And I'm back!

Mmmnotsure · 23/01/2024 12:47

KM Unfortunately I have to agree that apology for the language wasn't made to RA. There was an error about who was responsible for doing that and so it didn't happen. Sorry about that.

KM [re the apology] It got caught up in attempts to settle prior to coming to the hearing and that meant apology not made.
