'She told Mr Chorley the 24-hour nature of the House of Commons, alongside the backstage skullduggery of Westminster, made those who become involved "not normal anymore".
She added: “You start losing touch with reality and with what everyday people are experiencing and living through and what they think."'

MHAIRI BLACKS DA SELLS AVON

PronounssheRa · 02/01/2024 13:50

I particularly liked this bit

Ms Black, MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire South, said, of the "cult of personality" around Nicola Sturgeon: "It always made me quite uncomfortable.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 02/01/2024 13:52

Is she yet another potty mouthed MP with limited self regulation who displays an open hostility to women voters who disagree with her?

Yes she is. Mhairi famously told feminists who disagreed with her not to be 'Jeremy Hunts'.

Is this the political equivalent of a bad workman blaming their tools?

mummywithtwokidsplusdog · 02/01/2024 14:19

MB is a self interested non listening MP :(

In other news:

The Archbishop of Canterbury was 'always a bit cynical about that Jesus bloke and doesn't understand why everyone else made such a fuss about him'.

Mr Kipling thinks 'people eat too much cake'.

Katie Price 'wishes young girls would wear less makeup and be confident in their natural beauty'.

Unbelievable reverse ferret from Black here, clearly desperately trying to distance herself from a coming sh*tstorm and hang onto whatever new career opportunity she's got planned next

TheClogLady · 02/01/2024 14:37

Fucks sake, that drag queen isn’t even a decent quality drag queen!

Froodwithatowel · 02/01/2024 14:40

Lost a bit of touch with reality eh? 😂

There's a lot of it about.

I'd assumed Black was uber SNP all the way, but I've just read this and in fact she doesn't seem to be that supportive of Sturgeon even back in 2017. So perhaps I've misjudged that aspect of her.

She also attributes her very poor attendance record at WM to bad health in this article.

Overall, I am left feeling somewhat sorry for her - perhaps being elected as a 20 year old and coaxed into being a foul mouthed 'mad fer it' renegade by older people who should know better is at least part of the reason for some of her bad decisions.

Baldieheid · 02/01/2024 15:09

She's a foul mouthed playground bully who is just trying to run run run as fast as she can away from the tide that's now coming in to droon them aw. She was out of her depth in the rock pools, despite the early promise handclapping the press gave her. Vapid, vacuous and naive as fuck.

I wouldn't put her in charge of a till in asda.

I agree with this. I feel strongly that 20 is too young to be an elected representative. Being an elected representative in a representative democratic system ideally requires an analytic, calm, cool mind that is able to see the bigger picture beyond one's own singular passions or ideologies, with a sound understanding of economics and political ethics.

There are very few people in their 20s who fit this criteria.

MB was portrayed as a bit of a social media rockstar for a while and it must have felt like a lot of pressure. Not conducive to doing the job at hand.

TheClogLady · 02/01/2024 15:24

A very sensible 20 year old could serve on the parish council or as a ward cllr (especially in a ward with more than one) but I agree, not as a Westminster MP.

I think my local labour council leader was probably first elected at 21 ish (after joining the party at 14!) but it’s then taken him 20 years of committees and ward surgeries to get to council leader (along with working in the MPs constituency office part time for a few years).

TheClogLady · 02/01/2024 15:28

I seem to remember MB having a good friendship with old Labour’s Dennis Skinner (the Beast of Bolsover)?

Although perhaps that was just Father of the House keeping an eye on Baby of the House?
