'She told Mr Chorley the 24-hour nature of the House of Commons, alongside the backstage skullduggery of Westminster, made those who become involved "not normal anymore".
She added: “You start losing touch with reality and with what everyday people are experiencing and living through and what they think."'

Bloody hell!! 18?! I've got socks older'n that.

You've been wearing the same pair of socks for 19 years?!!?

😃

stealtheatingtunnocks · 03/01/2024 09:21

I’ve got a 24 year old lipstick, got it for my wedding and I’m keeping it for “best”.

I worry a bit that the next pandemic is growing in it.

Abhannmor · 03/01/2024 09:22

How far will she reverse? Perhaps we will see her on the Orange Parade with Arlene.

' I was never comfortable with all this. As a foetus I was a devout royalist.'

RoyalCorgi · 03/01/2024 09:44

Pitt the Younger was 24 when he became prime minister. So being young doesn't necessarily mean being foolish.

DifficultBloodyWoman · 03/01/2024 09:46

I think she is using an irregular verb.

I am justified.
You are bullying.
They are toxic.

I particularly liked this bit

Ms Black, MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire South, said, of the "cult of personality" around Nicola Sturgeon: "It always made me quite uncomfortable.

"uncomfortable".

That:s an unusual way of spelling 'envious'. Is it a dialect thing?

Well. I take them off for baths and other special occasions.

So they get washed twice a year, phew!

I've got band T-shirts from the 90s, but not as many as a couple of years ago, as my evil wife chucked a load of them when I was at sea. I mean sure, the logos had worn off and they were more hole than fabric....

I wish Joanna Williams would stop beating around the bush and just say what she thinks 😁

😂Williams nailed it didn't she?

ArabellaScott · 05/01/2024 13:53

That's a very perceptive article. Thanks.

Being diplomatic, I'm going to say that the SNP has fostered an atmosphere where this type of politics is pushed forward as desirable - superficially impressive posturing, fronting an absolute vaccuum of skill, ability, and integrity. So in a way it's perhaps not entirely Black's fault - she is a product of a certain type of politics.

"She has also recently spoken to the BBCC_ of her struggles with imposter syndrome, the term given for a psychological state where people doubt their skills and accomplishments and have a fear of being seen as a fraud."

That's not "imposter syndrome" hen, that's a description of reality...

Baldieheid · 09/01/2024 11:25

I hope the door skelps her on her arse as she leaves the building. Nasty, yapping, Jack Russell of a woman with a massive chip on her shoulder despite her cushy upbringing. Or perhaps, because of it. Poor wee Mhairi wanted to be downtrodden and a victim. Now she is, cos she's leaving Westminster cos of all the meanies. Yay! Mhairi is finally the "victim" of the piece, not a Jeremy Hunt.

Delusions of adequacy, as someone cleverer than me once said!
