Haven't read this latest idiocy, but nothing she says would surprise me. I mean, a small child can pretend they're a minotaur, of course. But no credible adult would agree that they actually were a minotaur and that their claim to identify as one is anything more than play and pretending. Or perhaps some evidence of an emerging SEN or developmental issue, if the child was truly unable to distinguish imagination from reality.

Ah, having read the article and not just the headline I see this is a metaphor of sorts rather than actually identifying as a mythical creature. This woman is away with the fairies. I would just laugh in her face if she actually started to explain her thoughts on this.

I remember as a child of about six pondering philosophically if someone's body could be half-male and half-female. So I can definitely see that a child might invent some kind of "half-and-half" gender for themselves and might persist in believing it to be true with the support of suitably insane adults (who are nowadays in no short supply).

Of course a lot of kids think gender is about clothes and many are persisting in this belief much longer than they should be because adults no longer put them right. If this is how you think, then of course someone who wants to wear both a skirt and a Spiderman jumper is "half-girl / half-boy" (bottom half / top half).

I think this is being somewhat misrepresented. It doesn't seem like she's claiming anyone actually identifies as a minotaur.

I was shocked that they were out there repeating the ludicrous claims about onsies and hairclips. Having a child who hated anything on their head or clipped up around their body, turns out they just hated anything on their head or tight fitting. Still does today. Many babies do, it is not unusual. To use this as any way to diagnose gender dysphoria is fucked up.

To then support different parts of the body having different identities is an indication of significant dissociation, this is not even a gender specific issue. Any person who believes a part of them that they were born with and that is not a person with chimerism, has any identity that is different to the rest of their body needs significant help. Not validation.

@Boiledbeetle I pride myself on my imagination and have been telling tall tales since toddlerhood but this level of make believe is beyond my powers!
