Oh Trinny …

Have just watched the latest episode of her Takeover show on You Tube…

…I’m very disappointed…

… and to think I used to be a fan.😧

I’m sure she has done it to appear cool and relevant but if her target market for Trinny London is women of a certain age, then I think this might have the opposite effect. I for one am certainly reconsidering buying her products now.

I’m deliberately not commenting on the individual concerned who seemed a nice enough person, but speaking very generally, are we meant to applaud Trinny for affirming and enabling people’s delusions?

She did do a little piece to camera at the end acknowledging that some people watching the video “may not be understanding”.

OP posts:

'Didn't Trinny immediately take up with that man who tried to choke Nigella Lawson in a restaurant? I lost all respect for her then.'

Same. I find her a very prickly and strange personality, or her public persona anyway. She can be funny, and I do think that she often looks amazing, but there's way too much of what I would call aggressive positivity for my liking. I won't be wasting my time watching this, it sounds like a cringe fest

I really loved Trinny’s dress in this episode.

Trinny trying to be genuinely enthusiastic about the whole charade and failing. He's a delicate gay man! Wearing a frock and shaving his Adams apple ain't gonna solve his problems.

The hilarious reveal at the end, he looked like a trans Trinny!🤣. You cldnt miss the resemblance!🤣🤣🤣
Agree with previous comment. He needs a dose of the real world. It was all a bit sad and pathetic.

"He's a delicate gay man!"
JFC this comment does not reflect well on you.

This is a great example of how the Streisand effect has impacted on my perception of trans women.....

Maybe six or seven years ago I would probably have thought this was lovely and sweet. I would have been pleased for the trans woman, who did look very nice in the last reveal - if still obviously a man.....

If I knew this individual, I would probably have quietly acquiesced to sharing a same sex space with her - a loo at work or in the pub, a changing room, included her on 'girls nights outs' and hen do, etc.... I would not have felt entirely comfortable doing so, but I would have done so out of politeness and compassion.

But I know too much now to ever go back. If the trans community hadn't pushed for more and more, hadn't insisted on taking so much away from women, then I would never have educated myself about what actually makes a man a trans woman and what they actually want.

I bet thousands of trans women wish we could just go back to the days when everyone thought they had a female brain trapped in a male body, and were treated accordingly.....

That’s exactly how I feel too. Didn’t really see any issues with the whole thing till J.K. Rowling was all of the sudden branded a ‘transphobe’.

Skyler is trans. And so is the sibling. And on the TV. Fawned over by a middle class woman influencer.

I mean, how incredibly unpredictable this all is. No way could I have ever guessed this could be a thing on reality TV.

In fact, what's wackiest of all is calling any of this reality TV. Pretty much the opposite, really.

So Trinny, you keep up with the "I'm up with girl power", and Skyler and sis, you act all aggrieved when this makes this all fine for other men to be in changing rooms not in yours and Trinnys exalted class surroundings, but in Primark etc where real girls and women are forced to swallow this groupthink.

In defence of Primark I was in there on Saturday and needed to find the changing rooms - was told very clearly by the assistant "we have a woman only one on the first floor and an any gender one on the ground floor". and there was a big sign in the woman-only one stating this too.

But I agree with your general point Smile

None of them "pass". It's all so sick. We are not blind. Men are not women and never can be. I'm tired of shit like this being pushed in the mainstream.

Exactly this. I don't want any part in this delusion.

We’ll still looked like a bloke in a dress to me, which is fine where what you want etc, but stay out of women’s spaces, sport’s prisons and shortlists etc

This is how I feel, too.

I've never been a fan of any of Trinny's makeovers. Like Gok, she dresses people to a formula rather than in something that suits them.

She had a hell of a job with this one, though, and failed as miserably as expected tbh. Sometimes being kind just isn't.

I was looking to see that "Skyler" used the correct changing room for himself. They didn't show that.

The refusal to address reality is all around. From Trinny desperate to make a point, to all the women in that show just saying nothing relevant, to two highly effeminate gays having no boundaries, now women and men conspiring for the most misogynistic of end results.

Fail!

thenightsky · 08/08/2023 14:54

Skyler was wearing the fake boobs too high up. A bandau top under the black dress to hide them would have been a heck of a lot better than that awful knitted jumper!

midsomermurderess · 08/08/2023 15:07

She ended up looking like Sarah Jessica Parker. Sort of.

RunAwayTurnAwayRunAwayTurnAway · 08/08/2023 15:23

Silly commercial-brained tits.

They think contentment and self-acceptance can be bought in Zara and Skylar keeps chasing happiness in 3 and 5 years after Skylar's next mutilation-pamper procedure.

Hardwork people indeed.

Yup. Me too.

I lost patience one outrage at a time; Maya Forstater; Lia Thomas; Isla Bryson; Kier (before he sensed the wind had changed)... the list goes on and on.

I do feel sympathy for those quiet, respectful transsexuals who stayed in their lane; but they, along with LGB rights will get demolished in the oncoming backlash against this genderwoo that is so badly damaging vulnerable young people's lives and health; and destroying women's rights with a smirk on its face.

They brought it on themselves.

WinterTrees · 08/08/2023 15:50

What an awkward, uncomfortable watch.

I felt oddly sorry for Skyler who was forced to confront the reality of their appearance without the dated, bust-thrusting bodycon female uniform. Trinny was clearly desperate to be kind and inclusive, but I fear her endeavours ended up having the opposite effect.

The sibling thing is interesting. Did I hear 'Grace' use they/them pronouns for Skyler? There's a weird dynamic at play there I'd say.

I've been eyeing up the Trinny London BFF cream for my next facial spf purchase, but this has resolved me to pass. The name already annoyed me - a bit try hard and forced - and this has amplified that. I think I'll find a brand with more authenticity.

JoodyBlue · 08/08/2023 16:13

I have enjoyed using Trinny London products. But I wont buy any more. This has nothing to do with Skylar enjoying a design consult and everything to do with the gaslighting from Trinny to her female customer base. Not having it!

Melroses · 08/08/2023 16:36

The only improvement was his hair. I preferred his original clothing and it would have been even better if he’d just rocked a great androgynous look, as a man.

I have a relative who was really rocking the slim snazzy suit with flowery shirt androgynous style with massive aplomb - but started taking oestrogen and changed pronouns and now everyone is saying 'She' looks 'Wonderful' with the aggressive positivity mentioned above. 😳

I'm not wasting any energy on feeling sympathy on them. My sympathy is for the real women and girls shoved aside by them.

Trinny is, frankly, a twit.

I was sorry for Skyler too, clearly a very vulnerable person being exploited by tv to prove their cool progressive credentials. Styler looked dreadful after the makeover.

RedLem0nade · 08/08/2023 20:33

Agree wit

RedLem0nade · 08/08/2023 20:37

Pressed post too soon.
Agree with @ValerieDoonican It must be exhausting to have to perform that role every day. To have put on the costume.

From an aesthetic perspective I look like crap when I wake up in the morning, but I’m still a woman even if I spend the whole day makeup free in my —frayed and ancient— pyjamas.

MaggieAggie · 10/08/2023 20:45

He says that he needed to see a counsellor who diagnosed Gender dysphoria and they wouldn’t give him hormones because he dressed too androgynously. Can anyone on here confirm if this is true - I find it incredibly hard to believe

BlessedKali · 10/08/2023 21:22

i just eatched the trailer and the upside-down la-la land madness utterly blows my mind.

The voice over says 'She is on such a massive journey' whilst the camera is zooming in on what is very clearly a man's face.

how are people living this lie.
