Annoyingly they still didn't correct the fact that they called it an 'anti-trans' event - eh, no, it's called 'Let Women Speak', it's a women's event.

I wonder if all the people who frothed on here about what a horrible nazi bigot she was (I seem to remember lots of threads about it) a few months ago will come back and apologies....probably not.

Farmageddon · 04/08/2023 11:08

*apologise

Looks like we accidentally summoned up the AGCL 😂

man alive, who forgot to put down the salt circle? I will check you know

DomesticatedZombies · 04/08/2023 11:14

What isn’t AGCL?

SunnyEgg · 04/08/2023 11:14

StephanieSuperpowers · 04/08/2023 10:54

But, I would welcome trans people with open arms into women's spaces to protect them from Nazi's.

And how would you see that working, since you think that the women are the nazis?

😂 Well spotted

DomesticatedZombies · 04/08/2023 11:19

I meant what is AGCL?

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 04/08/2023 11:23

If you'd welcome men into women's spaces you're not 'as gender critical as they come.'

DomesticatedZombies · 04/08/2023 11:19

I meant what is AGCL?

actual gender critical left

a group of facebook weirdos whose raison d'etre seems to be making increasingly wild claims about KJK

we've had occasional visits from them here. they're invariably extremely odd

ArabeIIaScott · 04/08/2023 11:28

DomesticatedZombies · 04/08/2023 11:19

I meant what is AGCL?

Actual Gender Critical Left - a facebook group that discusses gender issues, mostly from a US perspective, and does a lot of character assassinations of women they disagree with, last time I looked. Not a very sisterly place.

popebishop · 04/08/2023 11:30

It the risk of being piled on, the fact these events, and the views underpinning them, attract the support and agreement of neonazis really worries me.

If a prominent person kept lying and saying various events had Nazi salutes and were anti-minorities, do you think those events might start attracting neonazis?

They go where they can be violent and aggressive.

Helleofabore · 04/08/2023 11:48

pope has a point also.

If the lies have been constantly supported by others, including feminists and media, it becomes self fulfilling in a way. I am not sure though just how many times Kellie Jay and the Melbourne organisers can say 'they are nothing to do with us' for it to stop being treated as truth. In the meantime, if neo-nazi groups turn up uninvited, and not able to be stopped, they will either come because they have been led to believe they are welcome or they will come as per their original intention - to harass the extremist protestors who are also 'attracted' to the women's events.

The logic is that any neo-nazi turning up at a women's event is just as 'attracted' as Antifa and the rest of them. What is the difference between neo-nazis turning up to hold their protest and Antifa and any other extremist group?

Kendodd · 04/08/2023 11:56

I knew there'd be a pile on.

Yes your post wasn’t convincing and many saw the issues with it

It happens

Although I take it you won’t look at why it’s so poorly thought out

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 04/08/2023 12:04

you say pile on, I say your post was poorly thought out with several logical errors and people pointed that out

potato / potato

What's the stop the Nazis from coming in after them? By that logic, you've got women hating trans activists, and trans hating Nazis.

All in the ladies 🙄

Kendodd · 04/08/2023 12:40

Trans issues shouldn't be a left/right issue. It has become that though with the far right jumping on it. I'm left leaning, this is very off putting to me. The right has historically been on the wrong side of history on issues like gay rights, anti racism, and women's rights, even now, the right is more racist anti gay etc. Although with trans rights it baffles me how the Tories (the party first suggesting self ID) seem to get a completely free pass on this and is seen as some sort of champion for women, as far as I can see nothing could be further from the truth. The Tories have driven much of this and presided over the whole sorry mess. Never mind the wider price women have paid for Tory rule in terms of poverty and practically making rape legal.

Anyway, jump on me all you like but the connection between this issue and the far right is very off putting for left leaning women like me. Oh, and I'm a member of a political party on the left, I don't keep my TWANW views quiet, I am very vocal about it and there are loads who agree with me and are also not quiet.

Trans issues..

It’s women’s rights we’re trying to protect

If you say you’ll let males into female spaces gladly due to some violent men turning up - although remind me who punched the 70 year woman old in the face? I bet that doesn’t matter as much to you otherwise it would be front of mind and a priority

  • then no you’re not ‘GC as they come’. You’re ready to give up rights far too quickly

So what's the solution? you get put off enough so you stop defending women?

Or you don't.

Which ever one you decide, Posie Parker did not invite Nazis. The Nazis were there to tell the transactivists that they think they're paedophiles. That was their signage.

The Nazis have got absolutely nothing to do with any of the women involved in this.

If you're upset that they're going after transactivists then by all means go and support transactivists.

EdithStourton · 04/08/2023 12:53

Nazis - like any other extreme political grouping - will always attached themselves to anything that will give them some publicity and a chance to strut and shout in public. Since siding with trans activists has been the choice of the Left (fuck women, yeah?) the Nazis think they might gain traction by yelling at them from the other side of the barricades. Except, as KJK has made crystal bloody clear, they can fuck off from her side of the barricades.

Apparently he went on a blocking spree before issuing the apology thus deliberately reducing the number of people who could actually read it. Seems rather not in the right spirit!

I'm sure he must feel very hard done by with this judgement since even the most gener critical women you'll ever meet agree with him.
