Yes this is the feminism board. Paul Embery clipped it but I wonder if anyone saw it in full? He says the piece was about the impact of soaring water bills on an everyday mother. The voiceover calls the person a customer but the customer calls themself a mum. On the Twitter thread someone points out that the customer works for the TUC and is an economist who has been published in the Guardian. I think it’s fair to say the customer is neither a mother nor an ‘everyday’ one.

I think it's up to other people to chose the language they're most comfortable with when choosing to swear. You don't have to use it but telling other people what language they can and cant use very much comes from the TRA camp.

At this stage I think a man could stuff a cushion up his jumper and say he was pregnant and some people (including some female MP's) would go along with it and say who are we to gatekeep pregnancy. What even is pregnancy, anyway? Lots of women get pregnant and don't produce a live baby at the end of it, etc etc. You can be pregnant and have no symptoms, look at all the women who give birth and didn't realise they were pregnant. Some women don't even show all that much. He could draw a line on a pregnancy test with a biro and people would say look, he got a positive test, it must be true.

ITV did it for clicks on an otherwise dull piece that no-one would have watched. That we'd end up here seems inevitable because these individuals do seem to often have certain interests. I'd like to say a male openly pretending to breastfeed a baby is the line in the sand that will make people finally start listening to women. But I doubt it, sadly. Because they're still male and we're still only women.

I'm not sure why you have put the word biological in quotation marks, as if this is a quaint concept that has no basis in actual reality.

A woman is an adult human female. This is a biological category - which is what many males are trying to simulate when they cos play at breastfeeding.
If being a woman had nothing to do with biology why do you think so many men want to appropriate those biological experiences?

That's the goal of endless boundary pushing and this type of wilful exposure.
