An Equalities Officer for the Labour party has posted a tweet based on PP style slogans. But it says:

gender critical
adult human murderers

Ugh.
Desperation.

Theunamedcat · 17/02/2023 16:49

Vote gone, but who the HELL am I supposed to vote for now?

Theunamedcat · 17/02/2023 16:50

This really makes me feel the Labour Party don't ever want to be back in power because there is nothing more electable than a party that behaves like toddlers right?

antipodeancanary · 17/02/2023 16:53

Ffs

IwantToRetire · 17/02/2023 17:00

I dont want to compare it to any other internal Labour Party failings, but the tweet indicates not only a low level of understanding of how to behave as a party official, but also the prevailing culture in the Labour Party that they would say this.

Can only admire the strength of those women who have stayed in the party and been vocal about this anti woman bullying.

Starmer should be ashamed of himself.

That tweet would make me lose all hope for Labour, it I hadn't already lost it.

Meanwhile, the Scottish Labour leader, Anas Sarwar, states that only men can commit rape and rapists should not be in women's prisons.

I would vote for Anas Sarwar if I could, or for Rosie Duffield. But unless a biological realist stands for Labour where I live, Labour is never getting my vote again.

TightFistedWozerk · 17/02/2023 17:08

Okay, there we are, then. It is kind of a relief to have it out in the open - Labour uk's equalities officer has done them a favour, there is no doubt now, is there, that women, the cunty kind, are not welcome in Labour, if they refuse to believe in the magick mantra TWAW.

Double thumbs up.

How did Anas Sarwar vote on the GRR Bill,?

viques · 17/02/2023 17:40

Gosh, wasn’t it only the other day that Sir Keir was loudly and publicly congratulating himself on rooting out anti semitism from the labour party. And yet all the time , deep in the bowels of Labour HQ ………… Sounds like you need to get some new brooms in to do another clean sweep Keir dear.

pattihews · 17/02/2023 17:43

Every time I start to think that maybe I can trust Labour to do the right thing something like this pops up and reminds me that I'm a fool.

And I've seen it said he whipped Labour to vote for it. But can't find a source. But not sure you would find one as whipping isn't public, I don't think?

Nine SNP MSPs break whip and vote against gender recognition reforms

It will be interesting to see whether there's a response from Labour to this. Expect it will it be the same old, same old. There is no insult or threat made against gender critical women that's so awful it will generate a response from Starmer or other senior politicians. There's no level of bullying / intimidation of women in the party that will get a "not in our name" response from Starmer. Maybe a little handwringing bleat about "blame on both sides" but that will be it.

Xzxzxzxz · 17/02/2023 17:52

But this isn't Labour's equality officer - that's a complete misrepresentation.

It's an equalities officer. There are hundreds, and usually they are people who stand for the role, get it uncontested, and wield absolutely no power whatsoever within the Party.

It's a disgraceful tweet, but no constituency equalities officer speaks for the Party.

The Daily Record on 20 December 2023 said Labour were whipped on the Bill..

Agreed. However, if you swap this for other kinds of ignorant memes, Labour would act fast. It's just when it's actual women that they don't.

Depending on the post and the person, this story could have another life yet eg if the person is senior or tipped to stand as an MP in the next election. That sort of thing.

IwantToRetire · 17/02/2023 17:55

A slight tangent but there was a YouGov chat survey on whether the Labour Party is better under Starmer than Corbyn. The questions mainly focus on anti-semitism in the party, and are very badly constructed. I gave up.

But at the end there is the option to make your own point. A lot were saying what a shoddy survey, but amongst them I spotted 2 comments saying the Labour party should get rid of transphobes, and 2 saying Starmer needed to stand up for women's rights.

If you can be bothered you could just skim through the questions and then add a few comments!

See yesterday's question www.yougov.chat/

An Equalities Officer for @ UKLabour

For a Constituency Labour Party. Normally elected by a dozen or so members of that CLP and usually uncontested.

It says on the Twitter link that a complaint has been made to the Labour Party, and hopefully this will be dealt with very firmly. No senior member of the Party will have a clue who this person is and they will not be aware of his/her profile picture.

TightFistedWozerk · 17/02/2023 17:58

oh beg pardon, AN equalities officer for UK Labour has made it clear that on a personal level they do not want women, the cunty type, in their Party unless they agree that human beings can change sex, pleased to put the record straight and many apologies thankyou. Wozzer xx

MarshaBradyo · 17/02/2023 17:58

At least being blunt with it

The woman who tweeted this still hadn't put a complaint in five hours ago. I do think we can allow the Party more than a maximum of five hours to react before we condemn them as having condoned the member's actions.

They would investigate and then write to suspend/expel the member, if that's what they are going to do. There are thousands of CLP officers and the Labour Party cannot possibly monitor all of their social media pages. Let's see if they act now that they're aware (assuming someone has now reported it).

No need to be snippy. There is a huge difference between a national equalities officer, who would be reasonably thought of by the public as voicing the Party's official policies and opinions (as it happens that role does not exist), and a rank and file member of a Party of hundreds of thousands having a profile picture which will hopefully see then expelled from the Party.

There are hundreds of equalities officers within the Labour Party.

IwantToRetire · 17/02/2023 18:09

I agree with due process etc., etc.. but for me the fact that this even happened is the problem.

This tweet didn't come out of nowhere.

It came out of Labour Party culture.

And am beginning to wonder what that is when I heard on the news that Labour MPs wants parents of children with anti social behaviour orders to attend classes to learn how to be better parents! Can just see how a single mother working all hours, with two teenage sons is really going to benefit from this. How about talking about funding youth clubs and sports? I despair. news.sky.com/story/parents-will-be-given-classes-to-handle-anti-social-children-under-plans-by-labour-12813366
