Does anyone know what the deal is with her? She wrote a thread about being commissioned to write a hit piece on JK Rowling but in doing research found nothing transphobic and decided to speak out about it. I thought it was great and really good that it got some attention for JKR.

Now I’m seeing on Twitter everyone seems to be slagging her off and I can’t quite work out why. It’s not just trans rights activists, it’s the gender critical lot that seem to be gunning for her just as hard. She seems to have been asking for stories of abusive males but I’m not sure why that’s so terrible. People are always sharing their experiences of abuse on Twitter and obviously no one has to share if they don’t want to.

Can anyone fill me in? I feel I’ve missed something but I don’t know what.

I wonder if EJ Rosetta is the person writing Jack Monroe’s memoir. They seem compatible.

SFW vets people for their locals (as do WRN), EJR clearly doesn’t. But she’s trying to suggest KJK vetted or approved her.

She's either trying to imply that she was vetted and approved, or she's trying to make a snide point that if she got through the vetting then any bad actor can.

There have been a few such people, who have gone from TRA to GC but but then revert. I guess we will see.

A black lesbian friend whose twitter handle says “no DMs” has just had a DM from EJR accusing her of being homophobic and “aggressive” - because she tweeted the article in which EJR talks about faking being a lesbian.

I don't think it's that, I think she sees herself as writing fiction for credulous idiots and that's what she's attempting to continue to do. Flaw being, we're not credulous idiots.

And in the bizarre parallel universe where someone did think "adult services" was an alternative term for building and household maintenance agencies, you'd specify that you were calling about lightbulb replacement (her example!) in the phone call, then and there. You wouldn't leave the purpose of your call mysteriously vague, and simply hope that the agency employee attended the next day with exactly the right type of lightbulb or other required equipment.

Such mysterious vagueness is the preserve of ludicrously plotted sitcoms, where it's employed to move the plot along. Just as it is here.
