Does anyone know what the deal is with her? She wrote a thread about being commissioned to write a hit piece on JK Rowling but in doing research found nothing transphobic and decided to speak out about it. I thought it was great and really good that it got some attention for JKR.

Now I’m seeing on Twitter everyone seems to be slagging her off and I can’t quite work out why. It’s not just trans rights activists, it’s the gender critical lot that seem to be gunning for her just as hard. She seems to have been asking for stories of abusive males but I’m not sure why that’s so terrible. People are always sharing their experiences of abuse on Twitter and obviously no one has to share if they don’t want to.

Can anyone fill me in? I feel I’ve missed something but I don’t know what.

Sorry - was that a total brain fart on my part?

it was!

i have the wrong tweet linked - sorry. Will ask the moderators to remove it.

Nutmegger · 29/12/2022 07:33

I can't make her out. Atm I think she's more innocent than manipulative

GereWeGoAgain · 29/12/2022 09:51

@Nutmegger shes got a couple of sock accounts she’s using to fire at GC women who are questioning her. Accounts that have been dormant for ages suddenly popping back into life just to defend EJ’s honour. I saw a thread on Twitter yesterday, l’ll try and find it and link.

Nutmegger · 29/12/2022 10:19

Oh dear @GereWeGoAgain that sounds ominous. Yes, I'd love to see the thread

GereWeGoAgain · 29/12/2022 11:35

I can’t bloody find it. I thought it was posted by a GC woman with “peach” or “peaches” in her Twitter name but I can’t find her anywhere.

GCSquirrel · 30/12/2022 08:07

Has she sent everyone on this thread half a dozen DMs or was it just me she blessed?

Nothing in my inbox. Have you been invited to a women only (male inclusive) twitter space?

Byfleet · 30/12/2022 08:33

EJ Rosetta- if you are reading this (you must be if you have DM the OP) then what do you think? Can you answer any of the questions posters have about you?

GCSquirrel · 30/12/2022 17:29

She didn’t even answer any of my questions but gave me her personal email address and claims she’s only aware of this thread as her worried mum alerted her to it 🙄. Ah, I was hoping she was a well intentioned but possibly naïve newcomer but she knows exactly what she’s doing.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 30/12/2022 17:40

Her mum?

yeah, avoid.

TinselAngel · 30/12/2022 17:42

It's always a red flag when people try to take discussions off line like that- she did the same to me on Twitter.

EJRosetta · 31/12/2022 03:24

Hi EJ Here!

My poor mother! She was so worried that yesterday, she sent me the link to this message board. I’m so sorry I’ve not been able to read it all, but I thought I’d drop by and say hello. Hello!

I think I understand your concerns so thought I’d confirm I have no “agenda”. I’m just a young lesbian writer who had an un-expected and unprecedented level of attention following “The JK Tweet” & had to quickly decide what to do when the backlash started. The tweet was not in any way planned or a “publicity stunt”. Even though I DID believe JK WAS transphobic, I don’t anymore – I spent over 3 months researching, and in the end, declined to write what (I think we can all agree?) would have been a defamatory article. The tweet was just me saying “Right, I’m done” because I was literally done and unable plus unwilling to slander an innocent woman.

I had no idea my little tweet would go viral! At time of writing It has reached almost 7 million. Offers started pouring in & everyone wanted to hear what I had to say, next! So, you could say I was “given a microphone”

Not wanting to waste it, I had to quickly decide what to do next. “Pick A Cause, EJ” I said to myself. Of course, friends and PR contacts/now-ex colleagues recommended I “remain an enticing mystery” and say nothing, as “Whatever you say may be twisted and used against you”. Turns out they were right! But I believed I had a chance to really raise awareness (MY dearest "cause" is Better Support for Care Leavers, but no one’s ever asked) and I chose Women. Feminism, as I understand it.

But I’m also very shy and many can speak better than me so I “handed that mic” to women. I opened a Live Twitter Space and said "anyone can come! You’re all invited!" and hoped for the best.

Almost 5k people tuned in. I was amazed! Now, I do them every week on Wednesday at 6pm GMT

It was a scary 6 weeks and sadly, for reasons I still don’t fully understand, resulted in people thinking I had some sort of agenda. More backlash came (still is) and it almost scared me off doing any more Spaces! Almost. I think I understand your concerns (that’s why I’m writing this) so please email me if you’d like to. Also, soon I host “Ask Me Anything” where – as it says on the tin - you may Ask Me Anything, live. It’s on Twitter but as some may not have/want Twitter I will also have an FAQ section where I will answer Frequently Asked Questions. Got one? Email [email protected] – I check my inbox every day. The live "Space" will be recorded, so available for anyone to listen to after. It's free!

I’m not a mum, only a “mum-to-be” right now, so don’t wish to “appropriate” your MumsNet space but please do get in touch. And please go easy on me? This has been very tough. I’m a very shy person & this level of attention is quite frankly overwhelming. So, I’ll leave you to your Mumsnetting & hope this has helped settle any concerns.

You can contact me on me on [email protected] or find me here -

Hope to connect soon and have a lovely weekend.

PS I am not writing a book or “exploiting women” or in any way trying to make money. I’m now completely unemployed and back living at my Dads place so I hope you wish me luck as I figure out what’s next. The good news is I’m a trained chef and can make pretty good coffee, so there’s always that! Thanks for reading. Happy-Almost-New-Year!

Nutmegger · 31/12/2022 03:27

Good for you. Lots of people in this resistance movement are very divisive and there is little trust and lots of fights. I hope things work out well for you.

EJRosetta · 31/12/2022 03:34

Oh and I have no sock puppet accounts. Sorry to disappoint! Just me and one "spare one" that I opened a week ago to speak privately with women who were - like you - worried, or wanted to share something 1-1 in complete confidence. I'll share it with you if you email me.

Logging off now! Sorry for invading your MumsNet... I'll be back only once I'm actually a mum. Promise.

Rightsraptor · 31/12/2022 04:39

Hi EJ. Nice to see you here and I'm sure I won't be the only one to tell you that you don't have to be a mother to post here. We have men too. Both minorities, perhaps, but here all the same.

I saw you on Andrew Doyle's Free Speech Nation the other week. Brave of you to do that, you put yourself in the firing line from both sides as it turned out.

Thanks for posting about your Women Speak .... live twitter space (did I get that right?) and I'll definitely be taking a look.

TinselAngel · 31/12/2022 06:26

Still not addressing any concerns about safeguarding then EJ?

I'm surprised your three months of research didn't turn up anything about the influence of MN, and specifically FWR, which you come across as being completely clueless about.

You sure do use a lot of exclamation marks for a writer!

Go well.

TinselAngel · 31/12/2022 06:30

I see this thread is high up on a Google search, if hypothetically one was in the habit of googling oneself.

WarriorN · 31/12/2022 06:44

It would be wise to read a number of threads on this space E, especially the Bunbury ones and their purpose, transwidows support threads break it down and anything on "cis."

Women are exceptionally cautious here due to being doxxed, harassed and loosing their jobs for speaking about this thing. Safeguarding is a priority for us.

Reading "Break it Down For Me" would certainly be a better tactic than plopping and running.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 31/12/2022 08:59

What a spectacularly surprising turn of events.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 31/12/2022 09:12

ah, the old plop and run. always best when you can't explain what you're doing and why

I'd just say to anyone considering speaking at these events

  • what harm could you come to by giving this person a swerve?
  • what harm could you come to by speaking at this person's events? She seems unable to take any feedback on board or be clear about what she's doing and what she hopes to achieve.

If it's something your really want to do, maybe watch her for a bit, tune into a few, make sure you're comfortable before you jump in.

There are a lot of weirdos out there who exploit others for gain and over the years I've learned that they're attracted to activism like flies to honey.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 31/12/2022 09:17

also, if I see any more " or ! today I think my eyelids will twitch

whatever do her editors make of all that punctuation

GCSquirrel · 31/12/2022 09:20

I’m not a writer, clearly, but would a journalist who has only had half a dozen articles published in their career be commissioned to write a hit piece article for an online news outlet with 3 months to research it? It seems excessive to say the least.
