We can't have Bunburys but we can have a cheer up thread for recipes and nonsense - unrelated to any other that reads and just for ourselves to discuss purple scarves and green skirts and cats. Is anyone preparing for Xmas yet? I'm going to buy a Christmas cake from the bakers and feed it some brandy (no time to bake one).

Thank you, this thread had totally slipped my mind. Is it bad form to laugh at your old posts that you'd completely forgotten?

Nope. I've just been reading this and id forgotten half the shit i write.

I feel I've missed something today have been busy then dentist. Came back to see posts from cake hiding out on quieter thread and clitoral violence had been deleted so I assume somone had been getting people hot under the collar!

Wanders off to work out what the he'll had been going on today

Ps
The pee smelling old mangy cat is still available to any takers!

I don’t think I’d fancy letting my cats have access to social media that connects them to felines as bold as the ones described here 🙀
They can manage mischief enough alone (notably the theft of human food; they’ll not have any of this “obligate carnivore” business when vegan food is obviously delicious… I mean, they’re not turning down their own food for it, but they are shameless wee thieves) but they’re good boys about using their trays, for example…
They do also continue to be absurdly cute with the snuggling me like mad & then following me around when I DO get up.
On which note, it is in fact their teatime. My brother is away, but he forgot to tell them, so they’re patiently waiting for him to get home to feed them.

@EdithStourton I’m so sorry, that must add an extra layer of scary 🥺 I hope you had a good Christmas 💐

EdithStourton · 07/01/2023 08:46

@NitroNine I had a lovely Christmas, thank you. And generally I truck on without worrying too much. Have a good 2023.

IcakethereforeIam · 07/01/2023 12:11

@NitroNine did you get the Potter thing?

@EdithStourton glad you had a good Christmas, all the best for the New Year!

CryInToYourCornflakesNicola · 07/01/2023 12:42

Aww thanks for bumping, this thread that I must have missed pre Christmas has given me a great idea for ribboning next years tree. Or at least finding tinsel and baubles in the colours. I've got a year near enough to find purple, white and green things. Its plenty of time so, so obviously I'll be frantic in December doing this.

I dont know what shenanigans I missed yesterday, damn that work thing, but it sounds like I was better off not there.

Ooh, that thread was absolutely batshit, reading it through. I found it too late to get involved properly in the conversation but well done those who did.

On a better note, I am loving the amount of posters, on loads of threads, who are delurking to make fantastic, well evidenced, well argued points and have obviously been following multiple discussions on here.

Boiledbeetle · 07/01/2023 17:31

I think since the end of December a lot of women have justifiably found their anger and realised they are so fucking sick of being nice.

NO MORE!

WandaWomblesaurus · 11/01/2023 01:36

Starting to see so many more threads in other places - as in not on MN - just generally with people questioning. Lots of threads with worried parents whose child has been involved with another child who is coaching them. More newspaper articles. More general discussion.

More absolutely OUTRAGEOUS stories. It's almost like instead of calming down and finding a peaceful level the Rainbow 🌈 people are becoming more and more bizarre. Which of course brings more questions.

@EdithStourton excellent 😊

@IcakethereforeIam
I did, but it appeared both late & broken; & the company were unhelpful when they finally got back to me so I need to chase them again because it was a jolly expensive present (for my family, I’m aware lots of people would think it nothing) & they were rubbish about it all frankly 🫤
I also got a copy of the illustrated edition of the first book; & some Niffler trainers because I am very spoiled 😶

IcakethereforeIam · 11/01/2023 17:27

@NitroNine Angry, sorry to hear that.

If you ever find yourself in South Wales, take yourself, in your Niffler trainers, off to Colby Woodland Gardens. Not only is it a lovely wild garden (with cake!) but I was told the person who designed the Niffler for the film took inspiration from a mole carved on a wooden bench made from a fallen tree there. It might be so much rotten wood by now, but it's still a lovely place to visit and picnic by the stream. I think Dobbie's grave is quite close, at one of the Freshwater beaches..

NitroNine · 12/01/2023 01:51

Thanks @IcakethereforeIam - I will try chasing it up again in fact, perhaps with threats of Naming And Shaming On Mumsnet if they don’t buck their ideas up a bit😂

I shall bear that in mind, even if it resolves into having to suggest my father & stepmother might like to visit on one of their trips to Wales. Apparently they had to refilm the Shell Cottage scenes on a soundstage because so many turned up to gawk at them when they were shooting on location.

picklemewalnuts · 17/01/2023 13:09

I should have visited here this morning. Got all hot under the collar about fetish dogs in ikea when I could have been downing a nice cool butterbeer!

IcakethereforeIam · 17/01/2023 13:22

I think the National Trust have at least one cottage you can rent there. Did I mention cake?

I had a look at the ikea thread yesterday, there were at least two posters who I have to believe were trolling. Anyway, pull up a bar stool....crisps?

picklemewalnuts · 17/01/2023 13:44

Gosh yes. I finished my Christmas stash.... ta muchly.

picklemewalnuts · 17/01/2023 14:11

I liked the sound of Colby Woodland Gardens. I'll have to seek it out.

There's an island in the Severn I fancy staying on, too. No telecommunications at all. No data.

IcakethereforeIam · 17/01/2023 14:17

I'd love to stay on a tiny private island. In a lake, in an estuary, out to sea, any of that. Cosy cottage, snug tent, or a light house! Could spend hours walking in circles reading a book. Send out the bat signal, just for laughs and to see what happens.

PomegranateOfPersephone · 03/05/2023 07:15

The weather is beautiful this morning so I’m heading into the woods to admire the bluebells and primroses. Afterwards a butterbeer at the Bluestocking will be just the thing.

I am finding it really disappointing that some of the most interesting threads are getting deleted at the moment. Things seemed to have improved on these boards, but now it is just as bad as ever for deletions and thread deletions.
