They are doing some presentations at my place of work soon.

Does anyone have experience of their presentations? Any idea what I can expect?

It's not mandatory but it makes me think there may be a forthcoming policy...

Saying that though Helen Joyce did a brilliant speech at Cambridge and I can't think of anyone better placed to speak at other universities.

sex-matters.org/posts/updates/helen-joyce-speaks-at-caius-college/

I'm interested to know how many complaints they got? Probably more critical thinkers like you OP there than you realised!

BellaAmorosa · 16/11/2022 11:27

Good news, @Whatwherewherewhat .
This is the universe rewarding you for having courage and being prepared to stand up against indoctrination.

Whatwherewherewhat · 16/11/2022 12:38

Thank you for the suggestions.
@OhHolyJesus it's a university so higher education.

Are there any organisations that can be perceived as "neutral" that offer training?

OP posts:
Whatwherewherewhat · 16/11/2022 12:40

To replace what GI were offering I mean...although I don't know what the nature of the complaints were exactly, about GI in particular or the subject matter. Maybe I can try and find out.

And thank you @BellaAmorosa, I had a quiet word in the right (very lovely) person's ear, who then had a quiet word with the organiser, and I think what with the emails, that tipped it over the edge. Or I like to think so anyway 😆

That's the problem isn't it? As all the "trans" training is so ideological, truth absent, compelled speech, coercive behaviour orientated, people are forced to "object" or counter this.
What we need (and used to have before the trans extremists got hold of inclusion training) was balanced, appropriate for the industry, diversity training that identified the issues / blocks to inclusion of protected groups in that field and looked at strategies to overcome these blocks.
Once the flag waving "repeat after me, TWAW, this is my life and any questions are transphobic" individuals got hold of D & I, they've literally driven out so many intelligent, insightful trainers who refused to raise the trans flag above all other groups.

OhHolyJesus · 16/11/2022 14:10

@Whatwherewherewhat I don't know if any could be seen as 'neutral' as sex matters would be seen as 'the other side' I suppose, being that there are only two and you have to pick one 🙄

Audrey Luwig, Naomi Campbell or a human rights lawyer or expert (who didn't have anything to do with the Yogyakarta principles and isn't captured) might be good. Maybe Robert Wintermute?

Someone would bound to protest and label them transphobic right wing alt right Christian conservative (it is a university after all!) but depending on the aim of the presentation from the university's point of view I'd go with human rights speakers or free speech speakers.

They suggest that schools use the Pupil Premium or Disability allowance to pay for their £90 hour plus travel & accommodation charges.
this is the most infuriating thing I have read for a long time.

Oh and ONLY women have PCOS because you need ovaries to have an ovarian syndrome.

It's enraging isn't it Itisbetter? I've never seen anyone challenge them about this, more's the pity. The arrogance of self interested adults setting themselves up to "mentor" other people's children about changing sex and charging schools for the dubious privilege.
How this gets past any school's safeguarding policy I can't imagine.

Itisbetter · 16/11/2022 20:30

Pupil premium is for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children in our society, those in care, adopted or experiencing childhood as a carer. As for disability funding HOW DARE THEY. Honestly I can’t describe what I think about trying to tap in on that pitiful fund. I’ve home educated on and off for more than a decade and I have never been to a home Ed meet up where the children with disabilities didn’t outnumber the able children. In fact the ONLY children we met who didn’t have fairly significant needs were siblings. In TEN years, meetings are usually weekly and most people go to multiple groups.

Shame on them

So glad it's been cancelled OP. I think your uni is going in the right direction.

What did your comment mean...?
'Apparently there were MANY complaints, some very unpleasant.' By unpleasant did they mean women were pointing out the problems with Gi?

Whatwherewherewhat · 17/11/2022 12:04

I believe so yes, and their relationship with Stonewall.

OP posts:
Whatwherewherewhat · 17/11/2022 12:06

But not just unpleasant because they were complaints, they were framed in an unpleasant way, that's the impression I get anyway.

Until you see them yourself, I might be inclined to think that unpleasant was another word that has been redefined.

@Datun
Very true, I wonder what they actually said. Would love to know who sent them also!

This looks good for a company who is setting up a policy but my organisation has one (I didn't realise before but of course they do). I think what this person is looking for is someone to come in and do one off training sessions.

Also, isn't there a Stonewall connection with Diversity by Design?

Simon Fanshawe was a founder of Stonewall, back in the days when they cared about LGB rights. He’s not involved any more so that’s ok.

Well done OP, I too would be very interested to know who the complainants were, what they said and who it was that decreed them to be 'unpleasant'. The email from the organiser has a whiff of resentment about it, doesn't acknowledge the complaints and only alludes to the possibility that GI will not be re-booked (I'd be flabbergasted if they were, if what you said is accurate):

Dear colleagues,

I am very sorry about the short notice, but for reasons outside of our
control, we are having to postpone tomorrow's trans awareness workshop
with Gendered Intelligence. We will give you an update in the new year
on when the sessions will be re-scheduled for - and whether they will be
delivered by GI or another provider.

With apologies again for the short notice.

Whatwherewherewhat · 21/11/2022 14:00

I am in an excellent position now to make suggestions!

Thank you so much for those who made suggestions earlier in the thread.

Any more ideas?

OP posts:
Whatwherewherewhat · 21/11/2022 14:04

@QuimReaper to be fair, I think the organiser was completely taken aback by the reaction and wants to look into the whole thing more closely, which is so good.
