"There’s more to womanhood than high heels" (I don't even own any at all):

The "join the 21st century" message aimed at Rosie duffield has angered me SO much today. Do women's rights belong in the last century, Eddie? I think we are going to see this nastier side of EI a lot more in the coming months. He's going to show his true misogynistic colours.

What a load of disingenous BOLLOCKS (literally).

Forna start, Eddie Izzard did not 'come out as a transwoman in 1985'. In fact he is on record years ago saying 'these are not women's clothes, these are my clothes, I bought them'.

Women are offended by your 'boy mode/girl mode' sexist regressive crap Eddie, and your complete disregard for the dignity of women by using female toilets. Deal with it.

I agree that we are going to see a nastier side to him, especially when he is being egged on by his fellow misogynists.

A lot of red flags really.
Who is Eddie trying to prove themselves to?
Who is Eddie running away from.

I lived in Sheffield a good while ago but it was then and I imagine it is now a very interesting and proud city. I can only imagine the locals giving very short shift to his self aggrandising claims when compared to local political representatives. Hugely dickish things to say about local councillors and the city.

So Eddie, what about all the people
in the world who don't have any shoes at all? How should they 'identify'?

Janice has been influencing this board for many years. She helped me get it.

Just a tip for anyone with a willing student family member, or a .ac.uk email - you can get a student subscription to The Times for £1.99 month.
You'll need a Student Beans account.

Thanks @Whippet
I didn't know and I've been thinking I really need to cut back on subscriptions.

Perhaps Iranian protesters defying compulsory hijabs, girls in Afghanistan fighting for an education or mothers experiencing terrible maternity care in British hospitals should all just switch into “boy mode” when reality gets too much. I’m sure the Taliban would understand.
Yes. Absolutely this. Women aren't allowed to identify out of sex-based repression and men never identify out of sex-based power and privilege.

This in spade’s

She must defo be a mumsnetter!

*On Thursday night I posted this! If only the women in Iran currently being killed had just taken a leaf out of Eddie's book and worn different shoes so that they were no longer female.

If only the girls in Afghanistan being denied an education could have realised all they had to do was to switch to "boy mode".

So fucking insulting to pretend that womanhood is a costume you can identify in and out of when so many women and girls around the world are oppressed based on their biology and can do no such thing.

It makes me sick.*

On the EI thread.

Then last night Janice writes this in the times. Just saying.......you're welcome Janice Wink

Crikey Verastan, you should write! One of our top journalists has borrowed your words because of your insight and the way you articulate it.
