Please update your email signature to include your pronouns

The email states (at the bottom) that this is optional.

I knew it was coming, saw other threads from people who's organisations asked the same. I won't do it, just wanted a moan here.

I'm sure you won't be alone in ignoring this request. And the upside, I guess, is that it gives some indication of who thinks specifying pronouns is daft or wrong.

How long is it optional for though before they single out those who don't have pronouns on their signature? This worries me.

It's going to be very revealing!

I'm dreading seeing the emails come in over the next few weeks, seeing who has added them to their signatures. I don't want to see my colleagues in a new light but know I will judge them if they fall for this crap.

Hopefully it will help you easily identify the sane ones - there is strength in numbers 💐

Optional where I work, made available fairly recently. Such a disappointment every time I see a colleague I previously respected add pronouns! It's such a bad move for the company to bring politics / ideologies into the workplace in this way. Those who have added them are still very much in the minority. Interestingly they are almost all women with a handful of gay blokes. Not yet seen a single pronoun that doesn't match the individual's sex.

This is exactly what worries me! My opinions are kept to myself and I have a great deal of respect for my colleagues. I don't want to see their pronouns suddenly appear based on this request.

My real name can be used by either sex. I'm absolutely fed up with people assuming I'm a man because male is the default
