I've been a long time poster on Mumsnet, but recently in the last couple of months I feel like I can't say anything anymore. If I attempt to say anything that isn't in lockstep with gender ideology, my account seems to get removed. Can anyone please help me with a code to Ovarit?

I really don't want to leave Mumsnet as I’ve developed a very strong connection to this website, but I feel like me and my views are no longer in line with Mumsnet’s HQs thinking and it's progress too far in the wrong direction. I’ve met some beautiful and wonderful women in my time here, and it’s a shame that I feel like I’m being made to leave.

Farewell, and thank you all for the wonderful memories, and to all of my friends.

In terms of moderation differences I have noticed ...

Deleting posts that discuss surgery/hormone treatment as anything less than positive. So posts have been deleted recently for using words like mutilation and castration (in its entirely correct medical context).

There was also an example of a poster talking about historical attitudes to various trans behaviours and making a nuanced (and if anything positive towards the trans movement) point that got deleted. In all honesty, I don't think the mods understood what she was saying.

There were also deletion messages saying 'deleted for transphobia' which was odd as calling the reason out isn't normal policy (they usually say breaking guidelines).

This, in particular, looks like virtue signalling to some outside body. I don't know what the posts contained to merit their deletion.

At first I thought it was a rogue weekend moderating team but now I'm not so sure. The shift in the opposite way to the direction of travel seems very odd to me.

Why is it banned to mention AGP? There are Transwomen who agree that this describes them and helped them understand themselves and their experience.

I think because some TRAs claim it doesn't exist at all, and is mean to even talk about.
I also think because they know deep down that if the general public got wind of it, any remaining good will would evaporate. 'Be kind' doesn't tend to translate well when we are talking about enabling men's sexual fetishes. It blows a hole in the lie that is 'we just want to pee'.

But it's weird because I've seen posts explicitly mentioning it kept up, and others (like the one I mentioned before) only vaguely referencing it taken down immediately. So maybe it depends on the moderating team at the time.

IloveHolby · 26/08/2022 10:14

I've been on Mumsnet for 12 years or more (since DS was born) but have been a rare poster till I found this board. How do you know if a name is new? On another board I think someone called me out for having had a recent name change (this was a few years ago). How do you even know if someone has changed their name? When I go on my own name change history it doesn't even list my very first user name or how long I've been on here.

Is there any way I can look up my own posts under previous names as I don't see all the ones I've started when I go on there. Sorry, I should probably message admin about that, but I am genuinely curious about how other posters know that someone has changed their name.

I think TRA's target certain posters too. I remember the crowing on Twitter when Langcleg (her area of expertise was safeguarding) was banned. If you're frequently being reported it probably means you're doing something right.

Ok. But we haven’t been able to use the words castration and mutilation for the last few years at least. I haven’t seen it being able to be used anyway.

And I have seen a few posts that do cross the line and then seen them deleted. Usually new posters, who haven’t worked out how to discuss things in the guidelines. I do question putting up the reason for deletion. I think they might be trying to overcome the posts questioning why a post has been deleted. I don’t know. If I really want to know, I will ask MNHQ. Sometimes they will tell me why.

MNHQ get things wrong. Of course they do. They do get things right too.

If you have a problem, go and ask them. Start a thread and maybe we can get things changed.

Sadly, yes. We lose posters who bring loads of insight and experience. The question is do you think staying will help calm the dissonance? For you or for others.

Igmum · 26/08/2022 10:19

I would be interested if anyone has another code. Still like FWR on MN though!

Helleofabore · 26/08/2022 10:21

Having no history posting on MN at all is a good sign it is either s brand new poster or a name change.

TheKeatingFive · 26/08/2022 10:25

If you have a problem, go and ask them.

I did. It was glossed over.

It may or may not constitute a change, I can't say I am 100% au fait with what's been going on historically. It just struck me as a few notable things happening at once and I wasn't the only poster who remarked on it at the time.

Can you see other people's posting history then?

IloveHolby · 26/08/2022 10:29

Ignore that - just tried it.

Helleofabore · 26/08/2022 10:32

Advanced search holby. Try it with your own name.

And regulars tend to quickly pick a new name.

IcakethereforeIam · 26/08/2022 10:40

Can you see other users posting history with MN premium?

The 'deleted for transphobia' was bizarre.

I get it. But there are a few things that cannot be said so bluntly. Three letter acronyms for certain paraphilias or as alternative for transwoman/transman etc. Cult is rarely accepted. Blunt terms such as you mentioned are not often accepted and haven’t been for years.

There a balance, that is skewed towards the group who calls themselves most marginalised. But it has been struck. If anything, some regulars will say that compared to 18 months ago, we have more range of vocab and discussion points. After different court cases.

I cannot comment on the history post you mention. But I did read it and think that it was not going to remain. The writer could have easily contacted MNHQ and have asked what needs to be changed to allow it to stay. I doubt it was the topic itself. I have done this and with a tweak the post can be reposted, despite new attempts to report it to remove it.

But Yes. Of course, we know the guidelines require women to pretzel what we say. We are absolutely well aware of it.

Just use advanced search. They are saying that they will be changing back closer to what it was. But for any quick check, yes you can see peoples history. I don’t use it past a quick one to see if there is any history. I use it because often I have posted links in response to a particular poster and I want to find the link again.

WanOvaryKenobi · 27/08/2022 10:52

I have invite codes.

Thelnebriati · 27/08/2022 12:36

Instructions on how to get an invite code are on Ovarit so if you don't have a posting history here, just use your Twitter account.

Snoodsy · 30/08/2022 01:04

Any chance I could also get an invite to Ovarit please? I don’t post here a horribly lot but I am clearly GC! I don’t mind going through any proper Ovarit channels if need be. Thanks!

Delphinium20 · 31/08/2022 21:38

Hey...let's not just give out random Ovarit codes unless you know the person. It's a public site, so if you're interested, you can read it. Develop relationships here first or ask for others to view your posting history.

Look what just happened...timing tells me it's because of this thread.

I think you can email them and explain why you would like to join. And hope they let you :-) Or if you have Twitter you can message them on there, presumably they would check your posts to make sure you're not a TRA in disguise.

I can't see the original message as it's been deleted, but I guess it was something goady. It's so annoying that they can't leave us alone, even when the whole rest of the internet is available to them.

DarkDayforMN · 31/08/2022 23:27

Not very likely. I have been overwhelmed with some urgent deadlines and only got around to inviting about three people! I popped on here to apologise for that as I wanted to check people’s history first and quite a few people have asked so it’s become a bit of a job to do!

Anyway, I actually saw (and reported) the thread on Ovarit that post is referring to, and I was not embroiled in deadline madness at the time so it must have been before this thread! It was an extremely obvious troll anyway, someone expressing conflict about how their “feminist principles” are preventing them from making their teenage brother happy by calling him a girl like he wants. They aren’t very good at pretending to be us.😁

Delphinium20 · 01/09/2022 04:44

Sorry for assuming that one led to the other...but I still think we should still be careful about giving codes out.

startfresh · 01/09/2022 07:11

Oooh never heard of it, but sounds like something of interest to me. Please could I get a code, if possible? I've got posting history on this name, but again lots of NCs over a few years. (Including some being moved to the naughty feminism corner)

spongedog · 02/09/2022 20:02

I would also be very interested in a code. I do name change, but not recently. Happy to pm other information including twitter name,
