According to the BBC in advance of the results being published. Let's hope so. And I hope it is her attitude to women's rights that has cost her

Yes that's another good thing about the Mordaunt issue. She got absolutely slaughtered in the tory press .. think what they'd do to Starmer and Raynor. Giving them a loaded gun. If Starmer doesn't care about women's rights he hopefully has enough awareness of his own self preservation to kick it into the long grass. I look forward to that manifesto.

Maybe that’s a golden bridge for Labour - encourage them to launch another new drive on women’s & children’s rights, this time discovering (lo!) that a clash of rights exists (double lo!)

It's good.

What to hope for/encourage, I think, is to continue to drive back gender ideology from state institutions, including those that are arms length from the government. I suspect this will not be quick, precisely because many of them are (rightly) not directly controlled by the political levels of the state.

If a lot has been done in that direction, and also some thought as to how things went so wrong, it would be a much better place to go into a GE.

People really want things both ways sometimes, don’t they? This is the most important social issue since the civil rights movement, but at the same time it’s a marginal issue that can’t possibly influence the selection of a party leader. Doesn’t quite add up, does it?
