NCAA Woman of the year
Which of the following rules is most applicable?

  1. Women are responsible for what men do.
  2. Women saying no to men is a hate crime.
  3. Women speaking for themselves are exclusionary and selfish.
  4. Women’s opinions are violence against men, thus male violence against women is justified.
  5. Women and Feminism must be useful to men or they are worthless.
  6. Women who go around being female AT men by menstruating and breastfeeding babies deserve punishment.
  7. Women should always be grateful to men for everything.
  8. Men are whatever men say they are and women are whatever men say they are.
  9. Men always know the “real reasons” for everything women do and say.
10. The worst thing about male violence is that it makes men look bad. 11. Whatever women suffer from, it is worse when it happens to men. 12. Women’s ability to recognize male behavior patterns is misandry. 13. Angry women are crazy. Angry men have trouble expressing themselves. 14. Women have all the rights they need: The right to remain silent. 15. Men are the default human. Women are strange subhuman others. 16. Everyone owns and controls women’s bodies except the women themselves. 17. Men are better at performing femininity than women are because they invented it and it gives them a boner.

I haven't clicked on link. Could you explain please?

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 16/07/2022 16:09

Sorry it's a CNN story first paragraph reads "The University of Pennsylvania nominated swimmer Lia Thomas who has become the face of the debate on transgender women in sports for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year award."

The NCAA is the (American) National Collegiate Athletics Association

sorry for formatting accidental c&p of dashes from article.

The link is to a CNN story (nowadays, because people are rightly cautious about clicking links Im tending to prefer to just give them plain rather than prettifying).

In short,
The University of Pennsylvania nominated Lia Thomas for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year award. .... The award is meant to honor the "academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service and leadership of graduating female college athletes from all three divisions," according to the website.

The chumps still don't know what the word 'female' means.Hmm

JacquelinePot · 16/07/2022 16:22

That is pure trolling.

Re links, I don't know why MN have changed how this works, it's really annoying!

My eyes just rolled so far into the back of my head I'm sure they did a 360.

What a load of bollocks, quite literally.

They honestly believe the sky is red.

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 16/07/2022 16:27

@ErrolTheDragon "because people are rightly cautious about clicking links Im tending to prefer to just give them plain rather than prettifying" Thanks, that makes total sense of course and I'll bear that in mind for the future.

I'm not aware they've changed anything? It seems as it ever was to me. Ie. If you just c&p a link it shows up in full like the one I put in. If you want a pretty link then you do the thing with square brackets - if you hold down on one of those without actually clicking it should show you what the URL is.

WarriorN · 16/07/2022 18:25

Yep, chumps.

JacquelinePot · 16/07/2022 18:30

Before the latest "upgrade" I used to c&p links, but now that never works (they are never clicky). So now I use the link symbol which gives you the option to pretty-fy but i post the full link in both boxes so people can see what they are

Delphinium20 · 16/07/2022 21:20

This is so embarrassing. I have friends who are UPenn alumni and they hate this so much...they've written letters to their alma mater, but no response.

PearlClutch · 16/07/2022 22:29

'Her hair nestled alongside the medal around her neck as a blue University of Pennsylvania jacket hung from her broad swimmer's shoulders.'

Confused
PearlClutch · 16/07/2022 22:30

Oh, sorry, that was a link within the article. Quote from edition.cnn.com/2022/02/22/us/lia-thomas-transgender-swimmer-ivy-league/index.html

PearlClutch · 16/07/2022 22:30

Anyway, brilliant news and wishing Lia every success in this award. Sunny sunny sunlight! Bring it!

spot on.

Clementinecerise · 17/07/2022 09:47

What an insult to every talented female athlete who could have been nominated. Whoever put Lia forward is deliberately trolling women.

Absolutely - In some ways it feels almost inevitable and I shouldn't be surprised by this; and yet somehow I am.

It really is the final ”fuck you” from penn university to the women in the swimming team isn’t it

how little must someone think of women to do this?

Quite - When someone shows you [how little they think of you] believe them?

@Theeyeballsinthesky
Exactly, they've put this out there for all to see, and they seem so proud of it too

Circumferences · 17/07/2022 17:20

Just nominated though right?
Any chance Thomas will win? When do we find out?

DisgustedofManchester · 17/07/2022 18:48

This is the thread I have been waiting for since hearing the news. Let me get comfy

SkeletonFight · 17/07/2022 18:59

What a dick!

ErrolTheDragon · 17/07/2022 19:40

Probably too much to hope that Thomas's nomination is rejected on the simple factual grounds of ineligibility for an award specifically for "graduating female college athletes".
