I know everyone wants to lighten up a little - I'm sure some of you will enjoy this

THE South Yorkshire town of Cleckburton used to be a thriving industrial hub. Today its shops are boarded up and there are no jobs, hopes or prospects for its inhabitants.

The reason? The onslaught of wokeness, a process which began in the late 1970s and has since laid waste to the town.

Longtime resident Roy Hobbs said: “Back in the day this was a lovely place. People looked out for each other, chatted over their back fences and were casually racist about anyone not born within a ten-mile radius of the market square.

“And now it’s dead. My dad told me that it was the result of de-industrialisation and a lack of investment in the North by successive governments but it turns out he was wrong because the Daily Mail says it’s all down to wokeness.

'yet there are posters who keep posting praise of Jordan peterson, Jacob Rees Mogg, Kemi Badenoch and many others'

That is such a telling comment about what "antifascist" and "Antifa" really means.

I'm getting v annoyed at the radical left calling people fascists, senior Labour figures calling Tory voters 'scum' and various activists telling everyone what we should think and do. It's becoming unnecessarily authoritarian and abusive, and a dreadful turn-off.

What I fear is a lack of credible opposition to Tory policies - being a floating centrist I rather like having a choice of who to vote for. There's no way I'd vote Labour now, like I did in the last GE

The idea that feminists are purely obsessed with pronouns etc is of course bollocks. There's been plenty of discussion about abortion rights over the last few years, and they continue. There's plenty of discussion of the harms of sex work, and of sexualising children. Etc.

And note what happens when a feminist group does something which has nothing at all to do with transgender issues (I'm thinking of the French stillbirth memorial etc) - what happens? Extremist transactivists vandalise it because ... well, tbh I can't get a handle on what the heck that thought process could have been. Perhaps that's something the OP could explain?

I’m a socialist and woke af in many ways. I don’t appreciate my gender critical-ness (which is a product of my disbelief in the highly sexist concept of the special pink silly lady-brain) being lumped in with casual racism.

These kind of articles always feel a bit “sneering at the simple village folk” anyway.
