I am speechless at the way in which legitimate concerns are being belittled and ignored in Scotland. Nicola Sturgeon hits a new low.

And ignoring the cass report.

Iluvfriends · 02/05/2022 09:42

Nicola Sturgeon is going to come out as trans one day.

The only explanation i can think of why she is so anti female.

England are wakening up to all that is going on.

She will double down even more now.

She will not fight to her 'dying breath' for this. She will fight to her 'dying death' to be different from England. Woman are just cannon fodder.

Sadly I think this is likely correct.

littlbrowndog · 02/05/2022 09:34

Maybe we need to have another referendum then when she gets a no she will clear off
what’s with the dying breath thing. Weird and uneccsary.

the ferries the Gupta steel education gap nhs. Drugs deaths

she never defended Joanna cherry. Maybe sturgeon should have defended her to her dying breath

jeez sturgeon what’s to be proud off

Is it a 'dead cat' to try and divert attention from all the major issues actually facing people? I think she thinks it's a no-cost policy - because she somehow doesn't understand that removing women's rights is not a great vote-winner in the long run.

Honestly, I'm mystified.

I agree with this.

Any pharma companies or especially shady billionaires who are major donors to the SNP?

I would think that someone donating for policy influence could get quite a lot of bang for their buck with the SNP (more because of the size of Scotland and their dominance over it than because they are exceptionally corrupt.)

I think it has to be 'follow the money' with all these political parties. The only reason the Conservatives are slightly less captured than the rest is because traditionally business has been willing to support them come what may, so they are not as desperate for funds.

““These are the threats against women,” Sturgeon said. “I do not believe that trans rights and women’s rights are or should in any way be in conflict and I will argue that case until my dying breath. And that, I think, is the basis on which we should try to progress this debate.”

She is an absolute disgrace, how are women voting for this worthless dick panderer?

Just why would she say that? Anyone of us could think immediately of half a dozen examples where trans rights conflict with women's rights, starting with placing violent male sexual offenders in women's prisons, moving on through people with male bodies taking part in women's sports and on to young girls having to share changing room space with a trans woman displaying her penis.

Surely what she means is "There is a conflict, but I think trans women are more important than women"?

Lovelyricepudding · 02/05/2022 10:37

All her statements just show what a sham their consultations were. How could they possibly stand in court?

They are developing quite a track record of legislation that doesn't stand up in court. Even legislation that everyone agrees with in principal (UNCRC) they turn into an anti-Westminster charade so the courts have to strike it down.

Galvantula · 02/05/2022 10:39

It's like she thinks she's being a feminist just by being a woman in power and swanning about saying woman a lot? But actually doing fuck all to help and then making it worse. 🙄🙄🙄

mrshoho · 02/05/2022 10:49

Twitter has plenty on Peter Murrell.

Also:

'[Sturgeon] spoke of “an assault that is worse than possibly any time in my lifetime on abortion rights” after Florida brought in a ban on most terminations after 15 weeks of pregnancy.
“These are the threats against women,” Sturgeon said.'

We're no in Florida, Nicola.

And it was amply demonstrated a few weeks ago there is no appetite amongst Westminster's MPs to curtail abortion rights.

I would also point out that Westminster has had a debate on whether to keep telemedication and decided "yes" whereas Holyrood hasn't even got round to considering the issue.

On another point , Elsie McSelfie can't resist a photo op but that photograph is a disgrace. "See you Jimmy" hats with ginger wigs is Scottish tat at its worst.

They don't seem to get much in the way of large donations, although there's one from 'Cor Unum': I think that's the Weir family - lottery winners.

GibbonsGoatsGibbons · 02/05/2022 11:18

To be fair not giving a fuck about actual women is the one thing Sturgeon has been absolutely consistent on.

I'm clinging to the hope that Westminster will push back via courts & say that redefining woman isn't within the legislative scope of Holyrood

I absolutely despair that people keep voting in these utterly incompetent fools. Drugs deaths, economy, education the list is endless & not to mention the fucking ferries.

SunbowRainshine31 · 02/05/2022 11:30

Nicola is a strong woman, anyone who denies that is leaning into misogyny.

Mhairi Black too.

Two of the strongest most outspoken females in scottish politics, who I would suggest, know far more about trans people than the type of person attracted to this forum, support trans rights.

But because this forum is littered with actual misogyny, the abuse and insults that women get for being more informed about trans rights is sickening.

Its actually stomach churning how quickly this forum mocks and abuses cis women as well as trans women.

The misogyny is shameful for a forum supposedly woman-centric.

Rightsraptor · 02/05/2022 11:33

No Sunbow, we don't mock and abuse 'cis' women here. We don't think they exist.

Women exist though.

SunbowRainshine31 · 02/05/2022 11:35

You mock and abuse ALL women. Better?

Disgusting.

DomesticatedZombie · 02/05/2022 11:36

Eh?

DomesticatedZombie · 02/05/2022 11:41

'disgusting' 'shameful' 'stomach-churning' 'sickening' - whereabouts is all this 'abuse', please, Sunbow? Can you point it out?

Or do you mean 'different opinions' and 'disagreement'?

SunbowRainshine31 · 02/05/2022 11:42

I mean, of course the misogyny is excused, I wouldn't expect anything less.

mrshoho · 02/05/2022 11:44

What misogyny? Give some examples please.

drwitch · 02/05/2022 11:45

This is quite revealing suggesting that they are more tolerant of anti -abortion protestors than GC women

Nicola is a strong woman,

I have never seen anyone hear mention Nicola's or Mhairi's strength. I have no idea how strong they are. How do you do think their strength measures up to, say, Laurel Hubbard? Or do you think Hubbard might have some intrinsic advantage over them that would make the comparison unfair?

darlingdodo · 02/05/2022 12:01

Another example of the SNP calling for discussion, being advised by experts and completely ignoring all advice given. And Mhairi Black is a foul mouthed nincompoop. You can be a strong woman without resorting to abuse.

I would guess there are very few places where women are better informed about women's rights (or the lack of them) and the conflict between women's rights and trans rights than right here.

People do not get abused and insulted on here for being 'informed' on trans rights. Women are on the receiving end of abuse, death threats, rape threats, for daring to even discuss the issue in any way other than 'TWAW'. Mhairi Black has resorted to verbal abuse against people who dare state TWANW.

I'm sure the trans widows know far more about trans rights and the realities that go along with it than either Ms Black or Ms Sturgeon.
