The Tribunal will start on 25th April at 10am. If you would like to view online you need to send a request for access as early as possible.

Send an email to

[email protected]

The subject heading of the email request should read

“MEDIA OR PUBLIC ACCESS REQUEST – Case number 2202172/2020 - Ms A Bailey – 25th April 2022.

Then ask for the pin for the online access.

You will be contacted with instructions on how to observe the hearing.

I have sent a request but haven't had anything back yet. Hopefully nearer the time.

Yeah, this is what I was getting at upthread.

Gendered Intelligence train(ed) judges.

Gendered Intelligence trained Stonewall, aka Respondant 1, during the period circa 2015-16 when it attached the TQ+ to the LGB.

Personally I think there's a conflict of interest but how do you prove it? How would Allison's side even ask?

It becomes impossible because we still don’t know (I think) what the training was, and even if we did, every judge has presumably had it, so if you make one recuse themselves, who do you choose in their stead?

Fortunately it hasn’t prevented judicial independence - eg Choudhury J clearly did understand the issues and I felt that Maya’s judge last month, whatever the judgment they deliver, was not captured. But my purely personal view is that when the training is imposed on top of a pre-existing personal bias it’s likely to cause a lot of problems by reinforcing.

No wonder they’ve been resisting disclosing the training. I imagine they are well aware having had a look that it’s not fit for purpose so there would have to be a massive climb down and retraining of every member of the judiciary on this issue.

SpindleInTheWind · 25/04/2022 11:53

Is this the judge?

(Official press release from 2009)

That's a lot of years of experience.

SpindleInTheWind · 25/04/2022 11:55

@DelurkingLawyer It's a right old mess, the GenderWoo training for judges, isn't it? Maya's doing a sterling job trying to lift the lid on it.

Pluvia · 25/04/2022 12:06

Allison and Ben put down a firm line in the sand with the 'no Cis' and the fact that AB might, in her own evidence, refer to TWs as men. They've made their position — the position held by 90% of the population — plain. The judge's 'women assigned female at birth' woo really stood out. I hope the other members of the panel have their own thoughts.

Datun · 25/04/2022 12:39

The gender woo language is already beginning to look clunky and out of date.

it will be interesting to see the mainstream media reporting, considering that they can now have an opinion about all the ideological language and what the implications are.

GrimDamnFanjo · 25/04/2022 12:39

Was in the tribunal and waiting, hopefully, for the bundle...

WearyLady · 25/04/2022 12:40

I've got access to the hearing. Are we also able to get access to the evidence bundle so that we can see what's being discussed once the questioning begins?

thekingfisher · 25/04/2022 12:43

silly question but do you just have to request access once or for each day you wish to observe?
I followed twitter this am but later in the week I can observe.

I think so, they were discussing redactions etc today so we may get access once all the redactions have been done.

Your personal link works everyday, you don't need fresh ones.

You should be able to re-use your access code / PIN each day. IIRC, observers did that for Maya's tribunal.

I think so, on the Maya Tribunal, the same log in pin worked over a number of days.

Ok. Thank you, Jules - that has been troubling me for the last 20 minutes.

It was still a ridiculous suggestion, though.

Woman has sufficed up until 5 minutes ago. 🤔

yes it's really offensive to mess with language like this. we have a distinction already: woman or transwoman (subset of man). If we never refer to transwomen as anything other than male (when that's relevant) or transwoman then there really is no problem.

Baystard · 25/04/2022 13:23

Quick Q - I've been working this morning and couldn't log in until now. Have logged on now but nothing happening - it says "waiting for host to join". Have they stopped for lunch (and I just need to wait) or have they packed up for the day?

Pluvia · 25/04/2022 13:25

They've adjourned to read all the material and will be reconvening on Wednesday morning.

Thank you @JulesRimetStillGleaming

I am struggling with the new format of MN too - no "refresh" button!! why would they get rid of that?

I know. I've asked several times in Site Stuff to have it back. Maybe if others ask too they will listen.

Baystard · 25/04/2022 13:39

Thanks @Pluvia , you've saved me sitting waiting all afternoon!🙂

SpindleInTheWind · 25/04/2022 13:43

I take it that RMW won't be allowed to put in a guest appearace on this thread? Or opine on social media?

Pluvia · 25/04/2022 14:11

I think you're right there. Lovely!

DelurkingLawyer · 25/04/2022 14:14

I think it would be extremely unwise for a barrister involved in a live case to comment on that case not only before the outcome was known but during a trial.

I’m sure we’ll all be watching with great interest to see if any of them do.

DelurkingLawyer · 25/04/2022 14:30

Well quite. I can only speak for what I would do or not do. I would not for example have interacted on social media in any way with the Claimant. Others may think (and behave) differently…..

Are you on the app or browser? Did 'refresh' do anything other than your browser 'refresh' button? (Having never even realised there was a MN 'refresh' button!)
