The Tribunal will start on 25th April at 10am. If you would like to view online you need to send a request for access as early as possible.

Send an email to

[email protected]

The subject heading of the email request should read

“MEDIA OR PUBLIC ACCESS REQUEST – Case number 2202172/2020 - Ms A Bailey – 25th April 2022.

Then ask for the pin for the online access.

You will be contacted with instructions on how to observe the hearing.

I have sent a request but haven't had anything back yet. Hopefully nearer the time.

It strikes me as a bit desperate too.

When I appeared as a witness in a case that arose in my work capacity the rather desperate barrister resorted to criticising the punctuation of my thrown-together-at-the-last-minute statement. We won.

Yes, I noted that at the beginning when referring to her statement he corrected her grammar from 'this' to 'these'. I know he's only doing his job, but he is coming across as odious.

Shock
Clangyleg · 29/04/2022 10:54

Who else is on the witness list?

Pluvia · 29/04/2022 10:55

This could backfire on AH. If FPFW is the 'tiny' (his word), non-membership, outlying group of men and women, why would the mere mention of it strike horror in the hearts of GCC?

Ameanstreakamilewide · 29/04/2022 10:55

Really, Pluvia??

That is clutching at straws in the extreme!

tabbycatstripy · 29/04/2022 10:56

I don't find him odious. He's just doing his job. There are weaknesses in this evidence, but I don't think what he's arguing makes it irrelevant.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 29/04/2022 10:58

What a pranny...🙄

Pyjamagame · 29/04/2022 10:59

I was referring to his manner, not his questions. I find his manner odious. I might feel the same way if he was acting for Allison. He's making my skin crawl.

Agree. If CG beliefs are such a piffle, a trifle, then how does AH explain all those OTT emails between GCC and SW conspiring to get rid of Allison? He can't have it both ways.

Pyjamagame · 29/04/2022 11:00

So, he's making out like a witness statement needs to be referenced and peer reviewed. Who knew.

tabbycatstripy · 29/04/2022 11:00

Pyjamagame - really? He's slightly confrontational but again I think that's his job. Giving evidence must be hard, I don't envy Nicola Williams and think she's doing a great thing. She's doing well.

imokhesbonkers · 29/04/2022 11:00

Without evidence that women, rsp lesbians, are more likely to be gc, discriminating on grounds of gcness won't also be discrimination on grounds of sex, rsp sexuality - isn't that the point?

ickky · 29/04/2022 11:03

@imokhesbonkers Yes I think so.

where was this forensic approach to data in the scottish census case?

ickky · 29/04/2022 11:06

I know I donated anon, a lot of people do, primarily as the don't want to be outed as GC publicly, as they would be be in danger of losing their job.

Placemarking. Glad Allison is feeling better.

chilling19 · 29/04/2022 11:07

Just tuned in - is the aim to discredit Nic as a witness?

Datun · 29/04/2022 11:08

You would struggle to justify that lesbians aren't particularly gender critical, given trans ideology disputes the very concept.

chilling19 · 29/04/2022 11:08

I always donate anon for obvious reasons.

tabbycatstripy · 29/04/2022 11:08

Yes, the aim is to imply that her analysis has nothing to say about the likelihood of a gender critical feminist being either female or a lesbian.

Iknowitisheresomewhere · 29/04/2022 11:08

I can see where he is going but I think one can also argue (I am sure BC will) that because anti-GC views have a disproportionately negative effect on women (because women are more at risk from males in prisons than vice versa, etc etc) then it is still sex discrimination to deny the right to express them.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 29/04/2022 11:09

Indeed, ikky.

Wasn't there actually an incident where TRAs got hold of the database of names on a GC petition?
Naturally people were then very reluctant to use their real names, etc.

I'm using an alias logged into the hearing this morning - lots of people have.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 29/04/2022 11:10

Nic is cool as a cucumber but she's given evidence in a lot of these cases.

Gender critical feminism primarily benefits women as a protected characteristic, it's advocating for women's sex based rights, so discriminating against women and lesbians advocating for their rights is surely both discrimination against their GC beliefs and their rights to organise to protect and advance their own human and legal rights on the grounds of sex and sexual orientation.

chilling19 · 29/04/2022 11:10

Nic Williams - you are doing a good job.

Ratonastick · 29/04/2022 11:11

Am watching on twitter. Can I just check something? I saw mention of Doyle Clayton, are they acting for Alison? I ask because I had some professional dealings with them and they were in equal parts fucking brilliant and fucking terrifying. I’ve recommended them to any number of people with employment issues. Please tell me they are with Alison.
