Raquel Rosairo Sanchez still has legal fees to pay

Just saw this on a FB post - Raquel's crowd funder is still open and she has a long way to go to reach her stretch target.

Her case has been heard and the abuse, bullying and harassment that she as a doctoral student new to the UK was subjected to was horrendous.

Not as high profile as other legal cases, but nevertheless important for all of us.

Thanks OP

I'm glad that someone drew it to my attention.

I sort of thought that Raquel had reached her target as other cases were so quickly, but she hasn't.

Carrots planted. This is such an important case - I don't want my children going to a university that treats its members like she has been treated. Bristol Uni should be hanging its head in shame, not only for the initial bullying, but for their shitty behaviour in this litigation. I hope the book is thrown at them and Raquel recovers her costs. Thanks for the reminder.

Added a small spadeful and will add another on payday next week.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 24/03/2022 16:41

Have we heard the outcome of this case yet?

ATeamAmy · 24/03/2022 16:51

No decision yet. This is RRS's update:

As you know, we were in court from February 7th-14th, 2022. At the end of the trial, the judge informed us that he will aim to have his judgement ready within the next three months, but that at that point, if he needed more time he could request an extension.

We have received no news from the Court yet. Many people have been asking me, so I imagine lots of you will want to know the outcome of our legal case against the University of Bristol. I really want to know too, but I'm not worried, or stressed or anxious about it. The outcome will be ready, when it is ready. And if the judge needs extra time, then that is perfectly understandable. The last two months on this litigation (December and January) where thoroughly horrible for me, due to the conduct of the Defendant and their insistence on making this process as difficult as possible for me. So all my sleepless nights (and there were a lot) were before the trial, and now I feel at peace that my legal team and I worked very hard to ensure we presented our case as best as we could.

The stretch fundraiser is to cover costs incurred so far.

Will put some fertiliser in on payday.

TheElementsSong · 24/03/2022 16:55

Did some digging!

Iwassonaive · 24/03/2022 18:30

Me too!

RaquelRosarioSanchez · 24/03/2022 18:49

Dear women,
Thank you for this post. The legal fees remain, and the problem is that unless the public can help me, I would have to start paying out of pocket soon. This represents a significant issue for me because over the course of these past four years (all the ins and outs and the setbacks at every single stage), I have lost all my personal savings.

If you can help, that would be great. But if you're not in a position to contribute, sharing with sympathetic friends is just as important because they could help.

Other than this funding concern (and still pending PhD and immigration issues), I am alright, just trying to stay positive and grounded while in the centre of the storm.

Always grateful for your support and all the kindness Mumsnet has showed me throughout.

This thread reminded me, so thank you, and done. Flowers.

severnboring · 24/03/2022 19:49

@RaquelRosarioSanchez that's absolutely terrible that you have lost all your savings!

Well done and thanks for reminder!

drum123 · 24/03/2022 19:54

Can someone point me in the direction of the garden? I realise I can't be taken there directly!

This is her website. You should be able to find it from there.

Just had a little dig in the garden. We are all behind you @RaquelRosarioSanchez

MoltenLasagne · 24/03/2022 20:29

Done a bit of gardening too. Best of luck.

Twitterwhooooo · 24/03/2022 20:49

You're most welcome Raquel.

I'm going to share your crowdfunder round my networks again (tomorrow, once the WPUK meeting has died down in my timelines, and I'm sure that others will do the same.

What happened to you made me feel ashamed and embarrassed to be a UK citizen tbh, and very concerned about the utter state of the HE sector here.

I've just tried to give some money, and while it said the amount I'd pledged on the penultimate screen, the donation I was asked to approve was £0. I'd removed the Crowd Justice 10%, but the donation itself should still have gone through.

Scorchedterf · 25/03/2022 09:22

I’ve had the same problem, tried to donate £10 plus the £1 crowd funder tip. Verification with my card company showed £0.00. So I cancelled the donation.
Also Rachel, it was difficult to find the link to fund you on your website. I think the donation links should be more obvious and easier to find.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/03/2022 09:34

I think this is because Crowdjustice take payment later, it doesn't come out straight away. It's fine, they just take a penny at first to pre authorise your card. Try again.
