Haven't seen a thread on this yet, but if so, will delete for duplication.

JK Rowling is currently trending on twitter and she's yet again getting incredible abuse for her support for women and children.

For those less familiar with latest developments.

JK Rowling originally tweeted this thread:-

which included the sentence from her:
I've ignored fake tweets attributed to me and RTed widely. I've ignored porn tweeted at children on a thread about their art. I've ignored death and rape threats. I'm not going to ignore this. 1/11

JK clarified this to the tweeter in question to say Juan, I'll give you a moment to think hard about leaving that up . I reported every bit of porn so-called trans allies tweeted into Twitter threads where children were sending me artwork for the Ickabog. I didnt respond or retweet it because I don't want more kids to see it.

It seems as though Juan chose not to consider or delete, and the assumption is that JK has taken action against his tweet, which has led to his retraction of his original statement.

JK ignored the abuse on twitter so that the children engaging with her Ickabog tweets weren't exposed to the pornographic material tweeted into those threads.

On 16th July I posted a tweet of JK Rowling saying “I ignore porn tweeted at children”. This was entirely misleading as I took her words out of context. I was wrong to make this defamatory and untrue allegation and apologise to JK Rowling.

But as a result of his apology, JK is now yet again subjected to online abuse - to quote Helen Saxby: twitter.com/helensaxby11/status/1436048850293297173

To use her tweet to suggest she didn't care about children is about as defamatory as you can get.

Saw this earlier and it really pissed me off - these absolute bellends piling on JKR once again because she threatened to sue a 'queer person' (ODFOD) because they defamed her by implying that she condones porn being tweeted at children.

It was clear that she meant she 'ignored' it in that she didn't publicly respond to it. And she even gave that person the chance to take it down, and clarified what she very obviously meant. He obviously didn't take it down and she has obviously got her legal team onto him. Fucking good for her!

And in all of the piling on, the TRAs seem to be conveniently ignoring the fact that it was people on 'their side' who were tweeting porn at kids.

JKR has the patience and resilience of a Saint.

I don't think reminding us that some of their number tweeted dick picks at children whose parents were posting their artwork on Rowling's Twitter feed is quite the smart move trans activists think it is.

  • a sex offender exposing himself to children
  • the rights of me who have been convicted of sex crimes against children to be incarcerated in facilities occupied by women and children.

And as far as I'm concerned, the people who defend and protect men who sexually abuse children are just as guilty as the men who abuse and the ones who pay others to abuse for them. They're all child rapists

It's so odd. People are viciously attacking Rowling - but not the people who tweeted the porn at children. Gosh, it's almost like they have an agenda that means they've lost all sense of proportion and fairness.

Just went on to report some of them. Why is twitter moderation so crap and blatantly biased? One was openly accusing her of tweeting porn to children. Fucks sake.
This and then Nicola Sturgeon yesterday heckling Murdo Fraser for supporting women, another woman murdered and the kler given five years.... It just beggars belief. I feel we are under seige.

Agreed.

And the responses also demonstrate the out-of-all-proportion focus on one single cause, even at the expense of necessary focusing on those who tweet porn at kids.

Twitter is not at all balanced in its moderation. The female sex is not a protected group at all but mostly the group which gets the ban hammer most easily.

Exactly. The words porn, at kids, exposure, all of it seems to have lost its entire meaning and impact to these people.

They don't realise what it looks like to the outside world.

Just looked at Twitter. There are far too many imbeciles repeating the false slur about JKR. I really hope every single one of them gets contact from her lawyers. I used to think it was best to ignore most of it because otherwise you’d be making martyrs out of them, but most of these people are so thick and obsessed there’s little point worrying about what their feelings might be at a legal letter. None of them will stop and think. They’re too deep in this belief system to react appropriately.

Astounding lack of ability to read and understand on display. So many numpties gleefully saying they're in the US so she can't touch them. So many burbling about the Streisand effect. Yes, it's in operation here, but the person being shown up is not JKR. I hope and pray (in an atheist kind of way) that most people over the age of 20 would read what JKR wrote and understand it completely on sight, especially when you add the tweet from months later confirming she reported every single pornographic tweet on the Ickabog threads. No sane person of average intelligence could read those tweets and be left with the impression that JKR thought porn aimed at children was AOK.

Very notable that the pornographic tweeters aren't condemned. I see a lot of tweets saying effectively she was asking for that to happen, by posting a thread of free story chapters designed to appeal to parents and children during a global pandemic.

I don't know how she keeps going.

Came on to say what people have already said up-thread. TRAs are attacking JK for not wanting to draw attention to the sexual content TRAs were targetting at kids. And they honestly think they're the goodies. It's mind-blowing!

JKR is suing (in their words) a queer person and good for her, so she fucking should be! LGBTQ does not give you a right to do or say whatever the fuck you want.

The logic (I use the word extremely loosely) seems to be that Twitter isn't for children so it's irresponsible to post content aimed at children. This ignores that it's impossible for social media platforms to verify users' age, over 13s, ie older children, are allowed, and parents were posting their children's pictures and were obviously looking at the thread with their children.

Also appears to take it for granted that there will be adult content on Twitter and that's no biggy. I imagine Twitter allows it and even encourages it as it increases traffic from porn addicted men.

Twitter does allow porn as I discovered following back some trans activists profiles and discovering their legit porn. It ‘should’ be behind a label or something that you have to click to enable you to see it (like ‘content for 18 + only’) but it is there in all its glory. .. well, in the eyes of the ‘beholder’ anyway.
