Who is Lang Cleg?

JustcameoutGC · 03/09/2021 12:25

I am fairly new (i.e. Less than 5yrs) to this board. I often hear tell of a Lang Cleg, there are lots of user names that seem to be referencing her.

Who is she and where did she go?

@Ereshkigalangcleg

I missed the Weetabix thing. Dare I ask?

No! You might even agree with her and then where would you be?

Unlikely. I detest breakfast cereal of all denominations.
GCAcademic · 03/09/2021 13:11

Ketchup? Sandwiched with cheese and pickle? As croutons in French Onion Soup?

BlackeyedSusan · 03/09/2021 13:12

Banana and hot milk apparently

GCAcademic · 03/09/2021 13:14

That's how my mother eats Bran Flakes! Now you see why the thought of any cereal makes me want to puke.
Knittingupastorm · 03/09/2021 13:16

Hot milk is the only way to eat weetabix. In fact, growing up I thought that it literally was the only way to eat it, I didn’t know people ate it any other way. Pour on milk, heat in microwave, mix to consistency of porridge.

I draw the line at banana though.

LizBennet · 03/09/2021 13:16

Ugh no, I can eat banana on cornflakes, never on weetabix, I think them being warm is worse though 🤮

BlackeyedSusan · 03/09/2021 13:16

Indeed. Envy

BlackeyedSusan · 03/09/2021 13:23

But back to the important stuff ..

LC advocates: no sacred castes

Noone is exempt from safeguarding checks and practices.

Anyone advocating exceptions because....( Insert reason) is dangerous and potentially opening a loophole that abusers can walk through.

This rule hasn't been plucked out of thin air; its the result of actual harm caused in real life to real people.

LizBennet · 03/09/2021 13:45

Well terrible breakfast aside, what a shame she has been banned Sad

Masdintle · 03/09/2021 13:48

Please will someone post her "Why did this go on for so long?" thing about sacred castes? I really must save it.

MonsignorMirth · 03/09/2021 13:58

Big fan o' Lang here
It was probably just over a year ago she was banned? I occasionally come across threads with actual Lang on them and feel sad, happy and angry all at once.

Safeguarding is clearly really important but to me it seems like a very complex and unintuitive area, so I appreciated her clarification on loads of safeguarding issues. Obviously not something that's useful on a site for parents.... Hmm

TinselAngel · 03/09/2021 14:00

Trying to get potentially identifying details about anonymous Mumsnet users is bad form.

Leafstamp · 03/09/2021 14:04

Well said Tinsel.

The legacy of LangCleg and the knowledge she passed on to others is immeasurable. So, in that way, if no other, she is still a very powerful force in the game.

She's not dead! Grin

YetAnotherSpartacus · 03/09/2021 14:08

I think the OP has been around a while (but not on this board). Surely it is less than two years since Lang was banned?

And I was sure it was Marmite.

BlueBrush · 03/09/2021 14:15

Feeling duly inspired now, does anyone have any suggestions (website, book?) for a good starting point where I could learn more about safeguarding? Feels more and more like it's a pretty key thing to get one's head around...

I did hesitate to use that word, but cba to think of another one!

How did the scandal of Catholic priests grooming and exploiting children get so bad before anything was done?

How did the scandal of on-street gangs grooming and exploiting children get so bad before anything was done?

Because if you create a sacred caste of any group and silence anyone asking questions about individuals on behalf of the sacred caste, abusers will see, infiltrate, and groom and exploit children. That''s how."

I wondered the same about Dittany when I joined in around 2016.

PandorasMailbox · 03/09/2021 14:27

She also does unspeakable things to weetabix

Okay. That's enough Mumsnet for me today...

Idge of Reason, aka Lisa Muggeridge. The videos are in newest-to-oldest order, so scroll down to the bottom and start there. I learned a lot from her.

Nobody is trying to do that. The OP means who is she in the MN context, not offline.

OhHolyJesus · 03/09/2021 15:00

This thread has made me feel very nostalgic.

I miss Lang.

JustcameoutGC · 03/09/2021 15:00

Yeah, wasn't exactly asking for her address
